Inelastic semiclassical Coulomb scattering

We present a semiclassical S-matrix study of inelastic collinear electron-hydrogen scattering. A simple way to extract all necessary information from the deflection function alone without having to compute the stability matrix is described. This includes the determination of the relevant Maslov indices. Results of singlet and triplet cross sections for excitation and ionization are reported. The different levels of approximation -- classical, semiclassical, and uniform semiclassical -- are compared among each other and to the full quantum result.

Semiclassical time--dependent propagation in three dimensions: How accurate is it for a Coulomb potential?

A unified semiclassical time propagator is used to calculate the semiclassical time-correlation function in three cartesian dimensions for a particle moving in an attractive Coulomb potential. It is demonstrated that under these conditions the singularity of the potential does not cause any difficulties and the Coulomb interaction can be treated as any other non-singular potential. Moreover, by virtue of our three-dimensional calculation, we can explain the discrepancies between previous semiclassical and quantum results obtained for the one-dimensional radial Coulomb problem.

Strong-field photoelectron holography beyond the electric dipole approximation: a semiclassical analysis

Molecules in external fields: a semiclassical analysis

We undertake a semiclassical analysis of the spectral properties (modulations of photoabsorption spectra, energy level statistics) of a simple Rydberg molecule in static fields within the framework of Closed-Orbit/Periodic-Orbit theories. Semiclassical two-step model for ionization of hydrogen molecule by strong laser field

We extend the semiclassical two-step model for strong-field ionization that describes quantum interference and accounts for the Coulomb potential beyond the semiclassical perturbation theory to the hydrogen molecule. A toolkit for semiclassical computations for strongly-driven molecules: "frustrated" ionization of H$_{2}$ driven by elliptical laser fields

We study the formation of highly excited neutral atoms during the break-up of strongly-driven molecules. Past work on this significant phenomenon has shown that during the formation of highly excited neutral atoms ($\mathrm{H^{*}}$) during the break-up of H$_{2}$ in a linear laser field the electron that escapes does so either very quickly or after remaining bound for a few periods of the laser field. Coulomb repulsion and quantum-classical correspondence in laser-induced nonsequential double ionization

The influence of electron-electron Coulomb repulsion on nonsequential double ionization of rare-gas atoms is investigated. Several variants of the quantum-mechanical transition amplitude are evaluated that differ by the form of the inelastic electron-ion rescattering and whether or not Coulomb repulsion between the two electrons in the final state is included. Coulomb focusing in retrapped ionization with near-circularly polarized laser field

The full three-dimensional photoelectron momentum distributions of argon are measured in intense near-circularly polarized laser fields. Electron Collisional Broadening of Isolated Lines from Multiply-Ionized Atoms

Recent experimental and theoretical (both improved semiclassical and fully quantum-mechanical) results for B III and Ne VII delta n = 0 transitions with n = 2 or 3, respectively, are discussed. The probable reasons for disagreements by about a factor of 2 between the fully quantum-mechanically calculated and both measured and semiclassically calculated widths can be explained in terms of violation of validity criteria and non-thermal Doppler effects. Low-energy muon-transfer reaction from hydrogen isotopes to helium isotopes

Direct muon transfer in low-energy collisions of the muonic hydrogen H$_μ$ and helium (He$^{++}$) is considered in a three-body quantum-mechanical framework of coordinate-space integro-differential Faddeev-Hahn-type equations within two- and six-state close coupling approximations. The final-state Coulomb interaction is treated without any approximation employing appropriate Coulomb waves in the final state. The present results agree reasonably well with previous semiclassical calculations.

Coulomb focusing at above-threshold ionization in elliptically polarized mid-infrared strong laser fields

The role of Coulomb focusing in above-threshold ionization in an elliptically polarized mid-infrared strong laser field is investigated within a semiclassical model incorporating tunneling and Coulomb field effects. The Coulomb correction (difference from the 1st Born approximation) to the Molière screening angle in multiple Coulomb scattering theory is evaluated with the allowance for inelastic contribution.
