The properties of the states of the alternating parity bands in actinides, Ba, Ce and Nd isotopes are analyzed within a cluster model. The model is based on the assumption that cluster type shapes are produced by the collective motion of the nuclear system in the mass asymmetry coordinate. The calculated spin dependences of the parity splitting and of the electric multipole transition moments are in agreement with the experimental data.
Angular momentum dependences of the parity splitting and electric dipole transitions in the alternating parity bands of heavy nuclei have been analyzed. It is shown that these dependences can be treated in a universal way with a single parameter of critical angular momentum, which characterizes phase transition from octupole vibrations to the stable octupole deformation. Using the simple but useful model of axially-symmetric reflection-asymmetric mode, the analytical expression for the parity splitting and electric dipole transitional moment have been obtained. The results obtained are in a go…
In this work we examine the possibility to describe yrast positive- and negative-parity excitations of deformed even-even nuclei through a collective rotation model in which the nuclear surface is characterized by triaxial quadrupole and octupole deformations. The nuclear moments of inertia are expressed as sums of quadrupole and octupole parts. By assuming an adiabatic separation of rotation and vibration degrees of freedom we suppose that the structure of the positive- and negative- parity bands may be determined by the triaxial-rigid-rotor motion of the nucleus. By diagonalizing the Hamilto…
The particle-number conserving (PNC) method in the framework of cranked shell model (CSM) is developed to deal with the reflection-asymmetric nuclear system by applying the $S_x$ symmetry. Based on an octupole-deformed Nilsson potential, the alternating-parity bands in \element{236,238}{U} and \element{238,240}{Pu} are investigated. The experimental kinematic moments of inertia (MoI) and the angular momentum alignments of all studied bands are reproduced well in the PNC-CSM calculations. The striking difference of rotational behaviors between U and Pu isotopes can be linked to the strength of …
We show, within the framework of renormalized nuclear field theory and of the induced reaction surrogate formalism, that the highly debated $^{10}$Li structure, observed in a recent $^9$Li(d,p)$^{10}$Li one--neutron transfer experiment is consistent with or better, requires the presence of a virtual $1/2^+$ state of similar single--particle strength than that of the $1/2^-$ resonance at 0.45$\pm$ 0.03 MeV. Based on continuum spectroscopy self-energy techniques, we find that the physical mechanism responsible for parity inversion in $^{10}_3$Li is the same as that at the basis of the similar ph…
The interplay between quadrupole and octupole degrees of freedom is discussed in a series of neutron-rich actinides and superheavy nuclei with $92 \le$ Z $\le 110$ and $186 \le$ N $\le 202$. In addition to the static Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov approach, dynamical beyond-mean-field correlations are taken into account via both parity restoration and symmetry-conserving Generator Coordinate Method calculations based on the Gogny-D1M energy density functional. Physical properties such as correlation energies, negative-parity excitation energies as well as reduced transition probabilities $B(E1)$ and …
In the present work we report a comprehensive analysis of shell model results for high-spin states of $^{87}$Sr and $^{87}$Zr for recently available experimental data within the full $f_{5/2}pg_{9/2}$ model space using JUN45 and jj44b effective interactions developed for this model space. In this work we have compared the energy levels, electromagnetic transition probabilities, quadrupole and magnetic moments with available experimental data. We have confirmed structure of high-spin states of these two nuclei which were tentatively assigned in the recent experimental work. In the case of $^{87…
We show that within the proxy-SU(3) scheme the wave functions of the normal parity orbitals in a given nuclear shell are affected very little as a result of the replacement of the abnormal parity orbitals by their 0[110] proxy-SU(3) counterparts.
The nuclear Chirality-Parity (ChP) violation, a simultaneous breaking of chiral and reflection symmetries in the intrinsic frame, is investigated with a reflection-asymmetric triaxial particle rotor model. A new symmetry for an ideal ChP violation system is found and the corresponding selection rules of the electromagnetic transitions are derived. The fingerprints for the ChP violation including the nearly degenerate quartet bands and the selection rules of the electromagnetic transitions are provided. These fingerprints are examined for ChP quartet bands by taking a two-$j$ shell $h_{11/2}$ a…
