Although the Robinson-Schensted-Knuth correspondence is a classical subject, its study is still active because of new development in last two decades. In this field, fundamental results are sometimes proved by using machineries which may be bypassed. Hence we still feel a lack of good source for these elementary materials. This paper is intended to fill in this lack about the RSK correspondence and the left cells of the symmetric group. It is mostly survey-like, but shows the variety of fields the RSK correspondence is related to.

A $q$-Robinson-Schensted-Knuth Algorithm and a $q$-polymer

In [Matveev-Petrov 2016](arXiv:1504.00666) a $q$-deformed Robinson-Schensted-Knuth algorithm ($q$RSK) was introduced. In this article we give reformulations of this algorithm in terms of the Noumi-Yamada description, growth diagrams and local moves. We show that the algorithm is symmetric, namely the output tableaux pairs are swapped in a sense of distribution when the input matrix is transposed. Schensted-type correspondences and plactic monoids for types $B_{n}$ and $D_{n}$

We use Kashiwara's theory of crystal bases to study plactic monoids for $U_{q}(so_{2n+1})$ and $U_{q}(so_{2n})$. Simultaneously we describe a Schensted type correspondence in the crystal graphs of tensor powers of vector and spin representations and we derive a Jeu de Taquin for type $B$ from the Sheats sliding algorithm.

Schensted type correspondence for type $G_{2}$ and computation of the canonical basis of a finite dimensional $U_{q}(G_{2})$-module

We use Kang-Misra's combinatorial description of the crystal graphs for $U_{q}(G_{2})$ to introduce the plactic monoid for type $G_{2}$. Then we describe the corresponding insertion algorithm which yields a Schensted type correspondence. Next we give a simple algorithm for computing the canonical basis of any finite dimensional $U_{q}(G_{2})$-module.

We introduce and study q-randomized Robinson-Schensted-Knuth (RSK) correspondences which interpolate between the classical (q=0) and geometric (q->1) RSK correspondences (the latter ones are sometimes also called tropical). For 0<q<1 our correspondences are randomized, i.e., the result of an insertion is a certain probability distribution on semistandard Young tableaux. Simple modules for quiver Hecke algebras and the Robinson-Schensted-Knuth correspondence

We formalize some known categorical equivalences to give a rigorous treatment of smooth representations of p-adic general linear groups, as ungraded modules over quiver Hecke algebras of type A. Graded variants of RSK-standard modules are constructed for quiver Hecke algebras. Exporting recent results from the p-adic setting, we describe an effective method for construction and classification of all simple modules as quotients of modules induced from maximal homogenous data.
