A simplified construction of representations is presented for the quantized enveloping algebra Uq(g), with g being a simple complex Lie algebra belonging to one of the four principal series A, B, C or D. The carrier representation space is the quantized algebra of polynomials in antiholomorphic coordinate functions on the big cell of a coadjoint orbit of K where K is the compact simple Lie group with the Lie algebra g - the compact form of g.
We propose a formulation of the quantization problem of Manin quadruples, and show that a solution to this problem yields a quantization of the corresponding Poisson homogeneous spaces. We then solve both quantization problems in an example related to quantum spheres.
The central notion in Connes' formulation of non commutative geometry is that of a spectral triple. Given a homogeneous space of a compact quantum group, restricting our attention to all spectral triples that are `well behaved' with respect to the group action, we construct a certain dimensional invariant. In particular, taking the (quantum) group itself as the homogeneous space, this gives an invariant for a compact quantum group. Computations of this invariant in several cases, including all type A quantum groups, are given.
Quantum homogeneous vector bundles are introduced by a direct description of their sections in the context of Woronowicz type compact quantum groups. The bundles carry natural topologies inherited from the quantum groups, and their sections furnish projective modules over algebras of functions on quantum homogeneous spaces. Further properties of the quantum homogeneous vector bundles are investigated, and their applications to the representation theory of quantum groups are explored. In particular, quantum Frobenius reciprocity and a generalized Borel-Weil theorem are established.
The quantum general linear supergroup GLq(m|n) is defined and its structure is studied systematically. Quantum homogeneous supervector bundles are introduced following Connes' theory, and applied to develop the representation theory of GLq(m|n). Quantum Frobenius reciprocity is proven, and a Borel - Weil theorem is established for the irreducible covariant and contravariant tensor representations.
We define holomorphic structures on canonical line bundles on the quantum projective plane. The space of holomorphic sections of these line bundles will determine the quantum homogeneous coordinate ring of $\qp^2_q$. We also show that the holomorphic structure of $\qp^2_q$ is naturally represented by a twisted positive Hochschild 4-cocycle.
A method of constructing covariant differential calculi on a quantum homogeneous space is devised. The function algebra X of the quantum homogeneous space is assumed to be a left coideal of a coquasitriangular Hopf algebra H and to contain the coefficients of any matrix over H which is the two-sided inverse of one with entries in X. The method is based on partial derivatives. For the quantum sphere of Podles and the quantizations of symmetric spaces due to Noumi, Dijkhuizen and Sugitani the construction produces the subcalculi of the standard bicovariant calculus on the quantum group.
Let A be a coquasitriangular Hopf algebra and X the subalgebra of A generated by a row of a matrix corepresentation u or by a row of u and a row of the contragredient representation u^c. In the paper left-covariant first order differential calculi on the quantum group A are constructed and the corresponding induced calculi on the left quantum space X are described. The main tool for these constructions are the L-functionals associated with u. The results are applied to the quantum homogeneous space GL_q(N)/GL_q(N-1).
In this note we construct bi-*-Galois objects linking the quantized universal enveloping algebras associated to the Lie groups SU(2), E(2) and SU(1,1), where E(2) denotes the Lie group of Euclidian transformations of the plane, and we show how one can create (formal) quantum homogeneous spaces for these quantum groups by integrating the associated Miyashita-Ulbrich action on certain subquotient *-algebras.
The natural generalization of the notion of bundle in quantum geometry is that of bimodule. If the base space has quantum group symmetries one is particularly interested in bimodules covariant (equivariant) under these symmetries. Most attention has so far been focused on the case with maximal symmetry -- where the base space is a quantum group and the bimodules are bicovariant. The structure of bicovariant bimodules is well understood through their correspondence with crossed modules. We investigate the ``next best'' case -- where the base space is a quantum homogeneous space and the bimodule…
Associated to a finite graph $X$ is its quantum automorphism group $G$. The main problem is to compute the Poincaré series of $G$, meaning the series $f(z)=1+c_1z+c_2z^2+...$ whose coefficients are multiplicities of 1 into tensor powers of the fundamental representation. In this paper we find a duality between certain quantum groups and planar algebras, which leads to a planar algebra formulation of the problem. Together with some other results, this gives $f$ for all homogeneous graphs having 8 vertices or less.
Building on the theory of noncommutative complex structures, the notion of a noncommutative Kähler structure is introduced. In the quantum homogeneous space case many of the fundamental results of classical Kähler geometry are shown to follow from the existence of such a structure, allowing for the definition of noncommutative Lefschetz, Hodge, Kähler-Dirac, and Laplace operators. Quantum projective space, endowed with its Heckenberger-Kolb calculus, is taken as the motivating example. The general theory is then used to show that the calculus has cohomology groups of at least classical dimensi…
We apply the Tannaka-Krein duality theory for quantum homogeneous spaces, developed in the first part of this series of papers, to the case of the quantum SU(2) groups. We obtain a classification of their quantum homogeneous spaces in terms of weighted oriented graphs. The equivariant maps between these quantum homogeneous spaces can be characterized by certain quadratic equations associated with the braiding on the representations of SUq(2). We show that, for |q| close to 1, all quantum homogeneous spaces are realized by coideals.
The quantum duality principle (QDP) for homogeneous spaces gives four recipes to obtain, from a quantum homogeneous space, a dual one, in the sense of Poisson duality. One of these recipes fails (for lack of the initial ingredient) when the homogeneous space we start from is not a quasi-affine variety. In this work we solve this problem for the quantum Grassmannian, a key example of quantum projective homogeneous space, providing a suitable analogue of the QDP recipe.
For a complex or real algebraic group G, with g:=Lie(G), quantizations of global type are suitable Hopf algebras F_q[G] or U_q(g) over C[q,q^{-1}]. Any such quantization yields a structure of Poisson group on G, and one of Lie bialgebra on g : correspondingly, one has dual Poisson groups G^* and a dual Lie bialgebra g^*. In this context, we introduce suitable notions of quantum subgroup and of quantum homogeneous space, in three versions: weak, proper and strict (also called "flat" in the literature). The last two notions only apply to those subgroups which are coisotropic, and those homogeneo…
Quantum planes and a new quantum cylinder are obtained as quantization of Poisson homogeneous spaces of two different Poisson structures on classical Euclidean group E(2).
A quantum deformation of the adjoint action of the special linear group on the variety of nilpotent matrices is introduced. New non-embedded quantum homogeneous spaces are obtained related to certain maximal coadjoint orbits, and known quantum homogeneous spaces are revisited.
An algebraic framework for noncommutative bundles with (quantum) homogeneous fibres is proposed. The framework relies on the use of principal coalgebra extensions which play the role of principal bundles in noncommutative geometry which might be additionally equipped with a Hopf algebra symmetry. The proposed framework is supported by two examples of noncommutative $\mathbb{C} P_q^1$-bundles: the quantum flag manifold viewed as a bundle with a generic Podleś sphere as a fibre, and the quantum twistor bundle viewed as a bundle over the quantum 4-sphere of Bonechi, Ciccoli and Tarlini.
We show that certain embeddable homogeneous spaces of a quantum group that do not correspond to a quantum subgroup still have the structure of quantum quotient spaces. We propose a construction of quantum fibre bundles on such spaces. The quantum plane and the general quantum two-spheres are discussed in detail.
In this paper we construct homogeneous star products of Weyl type on every cotangent bundle $T^*Q$ by means of the Fedosov procedure using a symplectic torsion-free connection on $T^*Q$ homogeneous of degree zero with respect to the Liouville vector field. By a fibrewise equivalence transformation we construct a homogeneous Fedosov star product of standard ordered type equivalent to the homogeneous Fedosov star product of Weyl type. Representations for both star product algebras by differential operators on functions on $Q$ are constructed leading in the case of the standard ordered product to…
In the present paper the algebras of functions on quantum homogeneous spaces are studied. The author introduces the algebras of kernels of intertwining integral operators and constructs quantum analogues of the Poisson and Radon transforms for some quantum homogeneous spaces. Some applications and the relation to $q$-special functions are discussed.
Quantum analogues of the homogeneous spaces $\GL(n)/\SO(n)$ and $\GL(2n)/\Sp(2n)$ are introduced. The zonal spherical functions on these quantum homogeneous spaces are represented by Macdonald's symmetric polynomials $P_{\ld}=P_{\ld}(x_1,\cdots,x_n;q,t)$ with $t=q^{1 \over 2}$ or $t=q^2$.
We introduce a general recipe to construct quantum projective homogeneous spaces, with a particular interest for the examples of the quantum Grassmannians and the quantum generalized flag varieties. Using this construction, we extend the quantum duality principle to quantum projective homogeneous spaces.
The cusp was recently shown to admit the structure of a quantum homogeneous space, that is, its coordinate ring $B$ can be embedded as a right coideal subalgebra into a Hopf algebra $A$ such that $A$ is faithfully flat as a $B$-module. In the present article such a Hopf algebra $A$ is constructed for the coordinate ring $B$ of the nodal cubic, thus further motivating the question which affine varieties are quantum homogeneous spaces.
A new framework for noncommutative complex geometry on quantum homogeneous spaces is introduced. The main ingredients used are covariant differential calculi and Takeuchi's categorical equivalence for faithfully flat quantum homogeneous spaces. A number of basic results are established, producing a simple set of necessary and sufficient conditions for noncommutative complex structures to exist. Throughout, the family of quantum projective spaces, endowed with the Heckenberger--Kolb calculus, is taken as the motivating set of examples.
Differential calculi are obtained for quantum homogeneous spaces by extending Woronowicz' approach to the present context. Representation theoretical properties of the differential calculi are investigated. Connections on quantum homogeneous vector bundles are classified and explicitly constructed by using the theory of projective modules.
We propose a definition of a quantum homogeneous space of a locally compact quantum group. We show that classically it reduces to the notion of a homogeneous spaces. On the quantum level our definition goes beyond the quotient case. It provides a framework which, besides the Vaes' quotient of a locally compact quantum group by its closed quantum subgroup (our main motivation) is also compatible with, generically non-quotient, quantum homogeneous spaces of a compact quantum group studied by P. Podles as well as the Rieffel deformation of G-homogeneous spaces. Finally, our definition rules out t…
The recent result of Brown and Zhang establishing Poincare duality in the Hochschild (co)homology of a large class of Hopf algebras is extended to right coideal subalgebras over which the Hopf algebra is faithfully flat, and applied to the standard Podles quantum 2-sphere.
We study the most elementary aspects of harmonic analysis on a homogeneous space of a deformation of the two-dimensional Euclidean group, admitting generalizations to dimensions three and four, whose quantum parameter has the physical dimensions of a length. The homogeneous space is recognized as a new quantum plane and the action of the Euclidean quantum group is used to determine an eigenvalue problem for the Casimir operator, that constitutes the analogue of the Schroedinger equation in the presence of such deformation. The solutions are given in the plane wave and in the angular momentum b…
The quantum supergroup OSPq(1|2n) is studied systematically. A Haar functional is constructed, and an algebraic version of the Peter - Weyl theory is extended to this quantum supergroup. Quantum homogeneous superspaces and quantum homogeneous supervector bundles are defined following the strategy of Connes' theory. Parabolic induction is developed by employing the quantum homogeneous supervector bundles. Quantum Frobenius reciprocity and a generalized Borel - Weil theorem are established for the induced representations.
We propose a simple but effective framework for producing examples of covariant faithfully flat (generalised) Hopf-Galois extensions from a nested pair of quantum homogeneous spaces. Our construction is modelled on the classical situation of a homogeneous fibration $G/N \to G/M$, for $G$ a group, and $N \subseteq M \subseteq G$ subgroups. Variations on Takeuchi's equivalence and Schneider's descent theorem are presented in this context. Quantum flag manifolds and their associated quantum Poisson homogeneous spaces are taken as motivating examples. Moreover, a large collection of noncommutative…
We present other examples illustrating the operator-theoretic approach to invariant integrals on quantum homogeneous spaces developed by Kuersten and the second author. The quantum spaces are chosen such that their coordinate algebras do not admit bounded Hilbert space representations and their self-adjoint generators have continuous spectrum. Operator algebras of trace class operators are associated to the coordinate algebras which allow interpretations as rapidly decreasing functions and as finite functions. The invariant integral is defined as a trace functional which generalizes the well-k…
It is shown that quantum homogeneous spaces of a quantum group H can be viewed as fibres of quantum fibrations with the total space H that are dual to coalgebra bundles. As concrete examples of such structures the fibrations with the quantum 2-sphere and the quantum hyperboloid fibres are considered.
In this paper, we quantize universal gauge groups such as SU(\infty), as well as their homogeneous spaces, in the sigma-C*-algebra setting. More precisely, we propose concise definitions of sigma-C*-quantum groups and sigma-C*-quantum homogeneous spaces and explain these concepts here. At the same time, we put these definitions in the mathematical context of countably compactly generated spaces as well as C*-compact quantum groups and homogeneous spaces. We also study the representable K-theory of these spaces and compute it for the quantum homogeneous spaces associated to the universal gauge …
An ergodic action of a compact quantum group G on an operator algebra A can be interpreted as a quantum homogeneous space for G. Such an action gives rise to the category of finite equivariant Hilbert modules over A, which has a module structure over the tensor category Rep(G) of finite dimensional representations of G. We show that there is a one-to-one correspondence between the quantum G-homogeneous spaces up to equivariant Morita equivalence, and indecomposable module C*-categories over Rep(G) up to natural equivalence. This gives a global approach to the duality theory for ergodic actions…
We briefly report on our result that, if there exists a realization of a Hopf algebra $H$ in a $H$-module algebra $A$, then their cross-product is equal to the product of $A$ itself with a subalgebra isomorphic to $H$ and commuting with $A$. We illustrate its application to the Euclidean quantum groups in $N\ge 3$ dimensions.
This paper is part II of a series of papers on the deformation quantization on the cotangent bundle of an arbitrary manifold $Q$. For certain homogeneous star products of Weyl ordered type (which we have obtained from a Fedosov type procedure in part I, see q-alg/9707030) we construct differential operator representations via the formal GNS construction (see q-alg/9607019). The positive linear functional is integration over $Q$ with respect to some fixed density and is shown to yield a reasonable version of the Schrödinger representation where a Weyl ordering prescription is incorporated. Furt…
We develop a fundamental theory of compact quantum group equivariant finite extensions of C*-algebras. In particular we focus on the case of quantum homogeneous spaces and give a Tannaka-Krein type result for equivariant correspondences. As its application, we show that every Jones' value appears as the index of an equivariant conditional expectation. In the latter half of this paper, we give an imprimitivity theorem in some cases: for general compact quantum groups under a finiteness conditions, and for the Drinfeld-Jimbo deformation $G_q$ of a simply-connected compact Lie group $G$. As an ap…
