Final representation of all those measures $μ$ for which algebraic polynomials are dense in $L_p(R, dμ)$ is found. The weighted analogue of the Weierstrass polynomial approximation theorem and a new version of the M. Krein's theorem about partial fraction decomposition of reciprocal of an entire function are established.
We prove that for any even algebraic polynomial $p$ one can find a cosine polynomial with an arbitrary small $l_1$-norm of coefficients such that the first coefficients of its representation as an algebraic polynomial in $\cos x$ coincide with those of $p$.
The singularity structure of solutions of a class of Hamiltonian systems of ordinary differential equations in two dependent variables is studied. It is shown that for any solution, all movable singularities, obtained by analytic continuation along a rectifiable curve, are at most algebraic branch points.
We study a new family of q-Meixner multiple orthogonal polynomials of the first kind. The discrete orthogonality conditions are considered over a non-uniform lattice with respect to different q-analogues of Pascal distributions. We address some algebraic properties, namely raising and lowering operators as well as Rodrigues-type. Based on the explicit expressions for the raising and lowering operator a high-order linear q-difference equation with polynomial coefficients for the q-Meixner multiple orthogonal polynomials of the first kind is obtained. Finally, we obtain the nearest neighbor recu…
We study approximation of functions by algebraic polynomials in the Hölder spaces corresponding to the generalized Jacobi translation and the Ditzian-Totik moduli of smoothness. By using modifications of the classical moduli of smoothness, we give improvements of the direct and inverse theorems of approximation and prove the criteria of the precise order of decrease of the best approximation in these spaces. Moreover, we obtain strong converse inequalities for some methods of approximation of functions. As an example, we consider approximation by the Durrmeyer-Bernstein polynomial operators.
It is shown that several of Brafman's generating functions for the Gegenbauer polynomials are algebraic functions of their arguments, if the Gegenbauer parameter differs from an integer by one-fourth or one-sixth. Two examples are given, which come from recently derived expressions for associated Legendre functions with octahedral or tetrahedral monodromy. It is also shown that if the Gegenbauer parameter is restricted as stated, the Poisson kernel for the Gegenbauer polynomials can be expressed in terms of complete elliptic integrals. An example is given.
Inverse polynomial images of $[-1,1]$, which consists of two Jordan arcs, are characterised by an explicit polynomial equation for the four endpoints of the arcs.
The continuous big $q$-Hermite polynomials are shown to realize a basis for a representation space of an extended $q$-oscillator algebra. An expansion formula is algebraically derived using this model.
In this paper, approximation by means of algebraic polynomials of classes of functions defined by a generalised modulus of smoothness of operators of differentiation of these functions is considered. We give structural characteristics of classes of functions defined by the order of best approximation by algebraic polynomials.
A new method of algebraic nature is proposed for the study of the asymptotic properties of special polynomials. The technique we foresee is based on the use of umbral operators, allowing a unified treatment of a large body of polynomial families, with the use of elementary algebraic tools.
We show that the algebraic curve $a_0(x)(y-r(x))+p_2(x)a'(x)=0,$ where $r(x)$ and $p_2(x)$ are polynomial of degree 1 and 2 respectively and $a_0(x)$ is a polynomial solution of the convenient Fucsh's equation, is an invariant curve of the quadratic planar differential system. We study the particular case when $a_0(x)$ is an orthogonal polynomials. We prove that that in this case the quadratic differential system is Liouvillian integrable.
In this paper, we characterize all the irreducible Darboux polynomials and polynomial first integrals of FitzHugh-Nagumo (F-N) system. The method of the weight homogeneous polynomials and the characteristic curves is widely used to give a complete classification of Darboux polynomials of a system. However, this method does not work for F-N system. Here by considering the Darboux polynomials of an assistant system associated to F-N system, we classified the invariant algebraic surfaces of F-N system. Our results show that there is no invariant algebraic surface of F-N system in the biological p…
This paper is a sequel of the reference \cite[§4.2, p.p. 1782--1783]{almp}, in where some families of quadratic polynomial vector fields related with orthogonal polynomials were studied. We extend such results that contain some details related with differential Galois Theory as well the inclusion of Darboux theory of integrability and qualitative theory of dynamical systems.
We consider a system of the form x'=P_n(x,y)+xR_m(x,y), y'=Q_n(x,y)+yR_m(x,y), where P_n(x,y), Q_n(x,y) and R_m(x,y) are homogeneous polynomials of degrees n, n and m, respectively, with n<=m. We prove that this system has at most one limit cycle and that when it exists it can be explicitly found. Then we study a particular case, with n=3 and m=4. We prove that this quintic polynomial system has an explicit limit cycle which is not algebraic. To our knowledge, there are no such type of examples in the literature. The method that we introduce to prove that this limit cycle is not algebraic can …
For real planar polynomial differential systems there appeared a simple version of the $16$th Hilbert problem on algebraic limit cycles: {\it Is there an upper bound on the number of algebraic limit cycles of all polynomial vector fields of degree $m$?} In [J. Differential Equations, 248(2010), 1401--1409] Llibre, Ramírez and Sadovskia solved the problem, providing an exact upper bound, in the case of invariant algebraic curves generic for the vector fields, and they posed the following conjecture: {\it Is $1+(m-1)(m-2)/2$ the maximal number of algebraic limit cycles that a polynomial vector f…
An algebraic interpretation of the $q$-Meixner polynomials is obtained. It is based on representations of $\mathcal{U}_q(\mathfrak{su}(1,1))$ on $q$-oscillator states with the polynomials appearing as matrix elements of unitary $q$-pseudorotation operators. These operators are built from $q$-exponentials of the $\mathcal{U}_q(\mathfrak{su}(1,1))$ generators. The orthogonality, recurrence relation, difference equation, and other properties of the $q$-Mexiner polynomials are systematically obtained in the proposed framework.
The multivariate quantum $q$-Krawtchouk polynomials are shown to arise as matrix elements of "$q$-rotations" acting on the state vectors of many $q$-oscillators. The focus is put on the two-variable case. The algebraic interpretation is used to derive the main properties of the polynomials: orthogonality, duality, structure relations, difference equations and recurrence relations. The extension to an arbitrary number of variables is presented
The properties of the Pastro polynomials on the real line are studied with the help of a triplet of $q$-difference operators. The $q$-difference equation and recurrence relation these polynomials obey are shown to arise as generalized eigenvalue problems involving the triplet of operators, with the Pastro polynomials as solutions. Moreover, a discrete biorthogonality relation on the real line for the Pastro polynomials is obtained and is then understood using adjoint operators. The algebra realized by the triplet of $q$-difference operators is investigated.
In this paper, we prove that $ζ$ is not a solution of any non-trivial algebraic differential equation whose coefficients are polynomials in $Γ, Γ^{(n)}, Γ^{(l)}$ over the ring of polynomials in $\mathbb{C}$, $l>n\geq 1$ are positive integers. We extended the result that $ζ$ does not satisfy any non-trivial algebraic differential equation whose coefficients are polynomials in $Γ, Γ', Γ''$ over the field of complex numbers, which is proved by Li and Ye[7].
In this paper we present an algebraic study concerning the general second order linear differential equation with polynomial coefficients. By means of Kovacic's algorithm and asymptotic iteration method we find a degree independent algebraic description of the spectral set: the subset, in the parameter space, of Liouiville integrable differential equations. For each fixed degree, we prove that the spectral set is a countable union of non accumulating algebraic varieties. This algebraic description of the spectral set allow us to bound the number of eigenvalues for algebraically quasi-solvable …
The expected number of real zeros of an algebraic polynomial $a_0+a_1x+a_2x^2+a_3x^3+....+a_{n-1}x^{n-1}$ depends on the types of random coefficients, with large $n.$ In this article, we show that when the random coefficients $\{a_i\}_{i=1}^{n-1}$ are assumed to be negatively dependent with $var(a_i)=σ^{2i}$ and correlation between any two coefficients for $i\neq j,$ assumed to be $ρ_{ij}=-ρ^{|i-j|},$ where $0<ρ<\frac{1}{3}$, then the expected number of real zeros is asymptotically equal to $\frac{2}{πσ}logn.$
