We prove that Schlumprecht space $S$ is isomorphic to $(\sum_{k=1}^\infty \oplus \ell_infty ^{n_k})_S $ for any sequence of integers $(n_k)$. We also show that every complemented subspace of $S$ which has some subsymmetric basis, is isomorphic to $S$.

Some remarks about disjointly homogeneous symmetric spaces

Let $1\le p<\infty$. A symmetric space $X$ on $[0,1]$ is said to be $p$-disjointly homogeneous (resp. restricted $p$-disjointly homogeneous) if every sequence of normalized pairwise disjoint functions from $X$ (resp. characteristic functions) contains a subsequence equivalent in $X$ to the unit vector basis of $l_p$. Answering a question posed recently, we construct, for each $1\le p<\infty$, a restricted $p$-disjointly homogeneous symmetric space, which is not $p$-disjointly homogeneous. Moreover, we prove that the property of $p$-disjoint homogeneity is preserved under Banach isomorphisms.

Some remarks about interpolating sequences in reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces

In this paper we study two separate problems on interpolation. We first give some new equivalences of Stout's Theorem on necessary and sufficient conditions for a sequence of points to be an interpolating sequence on a finite open Riemann surface. We next turn our attention to the question of interpolation for reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces on the polydisc and provide a collection of equivalent statements about when it is possible to interpolation in the Schur-Agler class of the associated reproducing kernel Hilbert space.

We present some remarks about the embedding of spaces of Schwartz distributions into spaces of Colombeau generalized functions. We show that the various constructions of such embeddings existing in the literature lead in fact to the same one.

A remark about the spectral radius

We show that for any finitely generated non-amenable group and any $\varepsilon>0$, there exists some finite symmetric generating set with spectral radius less than $\varepsilon$. We give applications to percolation theory and the theory of operator spaces.

Some remarks about The Morse-Sard theorem and approximate differentiability

Let $n, m$ be positive integers, $n\geq m$. We make several remarks on the relationship between approximate differentiability of higher order and Morse-Sard properties. For instance, among other things we show that if a function $f:\mathbb{R}^n\to\mathbb{R}^m$ is locally Lipschitz and is approximately differentiable of order $i$ almost everywhere with respect to the Hausdorff measure $\mathcal{H}^{i+m-2}$, for every $i=2, \dots, n-m+1$, then $f$ has the Morse-Sard property (that is to say, the image of the critical set of $f$ is null with respect to the Lebesgue measure in $\mathbb{R}^m$).

Two remarks about nilpotent operators of order two

We present two novel results about Hilbert space operators which are nilpotent of order two. First, we prove that such operators are indestructible complex symmetric operators, in the sense that tensoring them with any operator yields a complex symmetric operator. In fact, we prove that this property characterizes nilpotents of order two among all nonzero bounded operators. Second, we establish that every nilpotent of order two is unitarily equivalent to a truncated Toeplitz operator.

A remark about supramenability and the Macaev norm

We show that a finitely generated group G which satisfies a certain condition with respect to the Macaev norm is supramenable. The condition is equivalent to the existence of quasicentral approximate unit with respect to the Macaev norm relative to the left regular representation of the group and has been studied by the author in connection with perturbation questions for Hilbert space operators. The condition can be also viewed as an analogue with respect to the Macaev norm of Yamasaki parabolicity. Remarks about Synthetic Upper Ricci Bounds for Metric Measure Spaces

We discuss various characterizations of synthetic upper Ricci bounds for metric measure spaces in terms of heat flow, entropy and optimal transport. In particular, we present a characterization in terms of semiconcavity of the entropy along certain Wasserstein geodesics which is stable under convergence of mm-spaces. And we prove that a related characterization is equivalent to an asymptotic lower bound on the growth of the Wasseretein distance between heat flows.
