The geodesic flow on the tangent bundle is the flow of a certain vector field which is called the spray $S:TM\to TTM$. The flow lines of the vector field $\ka_{TM}øTS:TTM\to TTTM$ project to the Jacobi fields on $TM$. This could be called the Jacobi flow.

Jacobi operators along the structure flow on real hypersurfaces in a nonflat complex space form

Let $M$ be a real hypersurface of a complex space form with almost contact metric structure $(ϕ, ξ, η, g)$. In this paper, we study real hypersurfaces in a complex space form whose structure Jacobi operator $R_ξ=R(\cdot,ξ)ξ$ is $ξ$-parallel. In particular, we prove that the condition $\nabla_ξ R_ξ=0$ characterizes the homogeneous real hypersurfaces of type $A$ in a complex projective space or a complex hyperbolic space when $R_ξ ϕS=S ϕR_ξ$ holds on $M$, where $S$ denotes the Ricci tensor of type (1,1) on $M$.

Jacobi vector fields of integrable geodesic flows

We show that an invariant surface allows to construct the Jacobi vector field along a geodesic and construct the formula for the normal component of the Jacobi field. If a geodesic is the transversal intersection of two invariant surfaces (such situation we have, for example, if the geodesic is hyperbolic), then we can construct a fundamental solution of the the Jacobi-Hill equation. This is done for quadratically integrable geodesic flows.

Integrable geodesic flows on tubular sub-manifolds

In this paper we construct a new class of surfaces whose geodesic flow is integrable (in the sense of Liouville). We do so by generalizing the notion of tubes about curves to 3-dimensional manifolds, and using Jacobi fields we derive conditions under which the metric of the generalized tubular sub-manifold admits an ignorable coordinate. Some examples are given, demonstrating that these special surfaces can be quite elaborate and varied.

Curvatures and hyperbolic flows for natural mechanical systems in Finsler geometry

We consider a natural mechanical system on a Finsler manifold and study its \emph{curvature} using the intrinsic Jacobi equations (called \emph{Jacobi curves}) along the extremals of the least action of the system. The curvature for such a system is expressed in terms of the Riemann curvature and the Chern curvature (involving the gradient of the potential) of the Finsler manifold and the Hessian of the potential w.r.t. a Riemannian metric induced from the Finslerian metric. D'atri spaces of type k and related classes of geometries concerning jacobi operators

In this article we continue the study of the geometry of $k$-D'Atri spaces, $% 1\leq k$ $\leq n-1$ ($n$ denotes the dimension of the manifold)$,$ began by the second author.
