We prove all the maximizers of the sharp Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev inequality are smooth. More generally, we show all the nonnegative critical functions are smooth, radial with respect to some points and strictly decreasing in the radial direction. In particular, this resolves all the cases left open by previous works of Chen, Li and Ou on the corresponding integral systems.
We give a simple proof of the $λ= d-2$ cases of the sharp Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev inequality for $d\geq 3$, and the sharp Logarithmic Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev inequality for $d=2$ via a monotone flow governed by the fast diffusion equation.
In this note we prove the reverse Stein-Weiss inequality on general homogeneous Lie groups. The obtained results extend previously known inequalities. Special properties of homogeneous norms and the reverse integral Hardy inequality play key roles in our proofs. Also, we show reverse Hardy, Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev, Lp-Sobolev and Lp-Caffarelli-Kohn-Nirenberg inequalities on homogeneous groups.
A Stein-Weiss type inequality on Carnot groups is established by proving the boundedness of an integral operator and the Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev type inequality on Carnot groups is also derived.
This paper studies the existence of extremal problems for the Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev inequalities on compact manifolds without boundary via Concentration-Compactness principle.
In the euclidean space, Sobolev and Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev inequalities can be related by duality. In this paper, we investigate how to relate these inequalities using the flow of a fast diffusion equation in dimension $d\ge3$. The main consequence is an improvement of Sobolev's inequality when $d\ge5$, which involves the various terms of the dual Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev inequality. In dimension $d=2$, Onofri's inequality plays the role of Sobolev's inequality and can also be related to its dual inequality, the logarithmic Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev inequality, by a super-fast diffusion equat…

This paper is devoted to a new family of reverse Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev inequalities which involve a power law kernel with positive exponent. We investigate the range of the admissible parameters and characterize the optimal functions. A striking open question is the possibility of concentration which is analyzed and related with nonlinear diffusion equations involving mean field drifts.
In this paper we extend Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev inequalities on compact Riemannian manifolds for dimension $n\ne 2$. As one application, we solve a generalized Yamabe problem on locally conforamlly flat manifolds via a new designed energy functional and a new variational approach. Even for the classic Yamabe problem on locally conformally flat manifolds, our approach provides a new and relatively simpler solution.
In this work, we have proved a version of the Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev inequality for variable exponents. After we use the variational method to establish the existence of solution for a class of Choquard equations involving the $p(x)$-Laplacian operator.
This paper is devoted to logarithmic Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev inequalities in the two-dimensional Euclidean space, in presence of an external potential with logarithmic growth. The coupling with the potential introduces a new parameter, with two regimes. The attractive regime reflects the standard logarithmic Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev inequality. The second regime corresponds to a reverse inequality, with the opposite sign in the convolution term, that allows us to bound the free energy of a drift-diffusion-Poisson system from below. Our method is based on an extension of an entropy method prop…
This paper is devoted to improvements of Sobolev and Onofri inequalities. The additional terms involve the dual counterparts, i.e. Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev type inequalities. The Onofri inequality is achieved as a limit case of Sobolev type inequalities. Then we focus our attention on the constants in our improved Sobolev inequalities, that can be estimated by completion of the square methods. Our estimates rely on nonlinear flows and spectral problems based on a linearization around optimal Aubin-Talenti functions.
There are at least two directions concerning the extension of classical sharp Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev inequality: (1) Extending the sharp inequality on general manifolds; (2) Extending it for the negative exponent $λ=n-α$ (that is for the case of $α>n$). In this paper we confirm the possibility for the extension along the first direction by establishing the sharp Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev inequality on the upper half space (which is conformally equivalent to a ball). The existences of extremal functions are obtained; And for certain range of the exponent, we classify all extremal functions via…

This note is devoted to several inequalities deduced from a special form of the logarithmic Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev, which is well adapted to the characterization of stationary solutions of a Keller-Segel system written in self-similar variables, in case of a subcritical mass. For the corresponding evolution problem, such functional inequalities play an important role for identifying the rate of convergence of the solutions towards the stationary solution with same mass.
In this paper we establish the reversed sharp Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev (HLS for short) inequality on the upper half space and obtain a new HLS type integral inequality on the upper half space (extending an inequality found by Hang, Wang and Yan in \cite{HWY2008}) by introducing a uniform approach. The extremal functions are classified via the method of moving spheres, and the best constants are computed. The new approach can also be applied to obtain the classical HLS inequality and other similar inequalities.
In this paper, we study some qualitative properties of Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev type systems. The HLS type systems are categorized into three cases: critical, supercritical and subcritical. The critical case, the well known original HLS system, corresponds to the Euler-Lagrange equations of the fundamental HLS inequality. In each case, we give a brief survey on some important results and useful methods. Some simplifications and extensions based on somewhat more direct and intuitive ideas are presented. Also, a few new qualitative properties are obtained and several open problems are raised for…
This paper is mainly devoted to the study of the reversed Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev (HLS) inequality on Heisenberg group $\mathbb{H}^n$ and CR sphere $\mathbb{S}^{2n+1}$. First, we establish the roughly reversed HLS inequality and give a explicitly lower bound for the sharp constant. Then, the existence of the extremal functions with sharp constant is proved by subcritical approach and some compactness techniques. Our method is rearrangement free and can be applied to study the classical HLS inequality and other similar inequalities.
We consider the following nonlinear Choquard equation with Dirichlet boundary condition $$-Δu =\left(\int_Ω\frac{|u|^{2_μ^{\ast}}}{|x-y|^μ}dy\right)|u|^{2_μ^{\ast}-2}u+λf(u)\hspace{4.14mm}\mbox{in}\hspace{1.14mm} Ω, $$ where $Ω$ is a smooth bounded domain of $\mathbb{R}^N$, $λ>0$, $N\geq3$, $0<μ<N$ and $2_μ^{\ast}$ is the critical exponent in the sense of the Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev inequality. Under suitable assumptions on different types of nonlinearities $f(u)$, we are able to prove some existence and multiplicity results for the equation by variational methods.
We are concerned with the existence of ground states for nonlinear Choquard equations involving a critical nonlinearity in the sense of Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev. Our result complements previous results by Moroz and Van Schaftingen where the subcritical case was considered. Then, we focus on the existence of semi-classical states and by using a truncation argument approach, we establish the existence and concentration of single peak solutions concentrating around minima of the Schrödinger potential, as the Planck constant goes to zero. The result is robust in the sense that the nonlinearity is …
Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev (HLS) Inequality fails in the "critical" case: μ=n. However, for discrete HLS, we can derive a finite form of HLS inequality with logarithm correction for a critical case: μ=n and p=q, by limiting the inequality on a finite domain. The best constant in the inequality and its corresponding solution, the optimizer, are studied. First, we obtain a sharp estimate for the best constant. Then for the optimizer, we prove the uniqueness and a symmetry property. This is achieved by proving that the corresponding Euler-Lagrange equation has a unique nontrivial nonnegative critic…
The purpose of this text is twofold. We present a review of the existing stability results for Sobolev, Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev (HLS) and related inequalities. We also contribute to the topic with some observations on constructive stability estimates for (HLS).
We prove the existence of an extremal function in the Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev inequality for the energy associated to an stable operator. To this aim we obtain a concentration-compactness principle for stable processes in $\mathbb{R}^N$.
This paper is a second one following our work [CLZ13] in series, considering sharp Hardy- Littlewood-Sobolev inequalities on groups of Heisenberg type. The first important breakthrough was made by Frank and Lieb in [FL12]. In this paper, analogous results are obtained for octonionic Heisenberg group.
In this paper, we investigate a stochastic Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev inequality. Due to the stochastic nature of the inequality, the relation between the exponents of intgrability is modified. This modification can be understood as a regularization by noise phenomenon. As a direct application, we derive Strichartz estimates for the white noise dispersion which enables us to address a conjecture from [3].
We investigate the class $\mathcal{B}^{loc}(\mathbb{R}^{n})$ of exponents $p(\cdot)$ for with local Hardy-Littlewood maximal operator is bounded in $L^{p(\cdot)}(\mathbb{R}^{n})$ space. Littlewood-Paley square-function characterization of $L^{p(\cdot)}(\mathbb{R}^{n})$ spaces with the above class of exponent are also obtained.
We show that the sharp constant in the Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev inequality can be derived using the method that we employed earlier for a similar inequality on the Heisenberg group. The merit of this proof is that it does not rely on rearrangement inequalities; it is the first one to do so for the whole parameter range.
This work focuses on an improved fractional Sobolev inequality with a remainder term involving the Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev inequality which has been proved recently. By extending a recent result on the standard Laplacian to the fractional case, we offer a new, simpler proof and provide new estimates on the best constant involved. Using endpoint differentiation, we also obtain an improved version of a Moser-Trudinger-Onofri type inequality on the sphere. As an immediate consequence, we derive an improved version of the Onofri inequality on the Euclidean space using the stereographic projection…
For a closed connected surface with a metric g, we consider the regularized trace of the inverse of the Laplace-Beltrami operator. We minimize this on the class of smooth metrics conformal to g having the same area, and show that the infimum is less than or equal to the value for the round sphere of the same area, and if it is equal, then it is attained. In fact we prove the analogs of these results for general dimensional compact manifolds. Explicitly, the results are logarithmic Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev inequalites. By duality they give analogs of the Onofri-Beckner theorem.
We give a new proof of certain cases of the sharp HLS inequality. Instead of symmetric decreasing rearrangement it uses the reflection positivity of inversions in spheres. In doing this we extend a characterization of the minimizing functions due to Li and Zhu.
In this paper, we got several sharp Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev-type inequalities on quaternionic Heisenberg groups (a general form due to Folland and Stein [FS74]), using the symmetrization-free method in a paper of Frank and Lieb [FL12], where they considered the analogues on classical Heisenberg group. First, we give the sharp Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev inequalities, both on quaternionic Heisenberg group and its equivalent on quaternionic sphere for exponent bigger than 4. The extremizer, as we guess, is almost uniquely constant function on sphere. Then their dual form, sharp conformally-invaria…
