The logarithmic asymptotics for the growth of the number of periodic orbits, such that the norm of the corresponding renormalization matrix does not exceed a given constant, is computed for the Teichmueller flow on Veech's moduli space of zippered rectangles. Let Q(S) be the moduli space of area one holomorphic quadratic differentials for an oriented surface S of genus g with m punctures and 3g-3+m>1. We show that the supremum over all compact subsets K of Q(S) of the asymptotic growth rate of the number of periodic orbits of the Teichmueller flow which are contained in K equals h=6g-6+2m. Moreover, h is also the supremum of the topological entropies of the restriction of the Teichmueller flow to compact invariant subsets of Q(S).

We prove that the Teichmueller disc stabilized by the Arnoux-Yoccoz pseudo-Anosov diffeomorphism contains at least two closed Teichmueller geodesics. This proves that the corresponding flat surface does not have a cyclic Veech group. We show that for many strata of Abelian differentials in low genus the sum of Lyapunov exponents for the Teichmueller geodesic flow is the same for all Teichmueller curves in that stratum, hence equal to the sum of Lyapunov exponents for the whole stratum. This behavior is due to the disjointness property of Teichmueller curves with various geometrically defined divisors on moduli spaces of curves.
We extend Teichmueller dynamics to a flow on the total space of a flat bundle of deformation spaces of representations of the fundamental group of a fixed surface S in a Lie group G. We give an algebraic way of distinguishing the components of the exceptional strata of quadratic differentials in genus three and four. The complete list of these strata is (9, -1), (6,3,-1), (3,3,3, -1) in genus three and (12), (9,3), (6,6), (6,3,3) and (3,3,3,3) in genus four. We discuss the action of subgroups of the mapping class group of S on the CAT(0)-boundary of the completion of Teichmueller space with respect to the Weil-Petersson metric. We consider a topological class of a germ of complex analytic function in two variables which does not belong to its jacobian ideal. Such a function is not quasi homogeneous. Each element f in this class induces a germ of foliation (df = 0). Proceeding similarly to the homogeneous case and the quasi homogeneous case treated by Genzmer and Paul, we describe the local moduli space of the foliations in this class and give analytic normal forms.
