Logarithmic asymptotics for the number of periodic orbits of the Teichmueller flow on Veech's space of zippered rectangles

The logarithmic asymptotics for the growth of the number of periodic orbits, such that the norm of the corresponding renormalization matrix does not exceed a given constant, is computed for the Teichmueller flow on Veech's moduli space of zippered rectangles. The rate is equal to the entropy of the flow with respect to the absolutely continuous invariant measure.

We review the different notions about translation surfaces which are necessary to understand McMullen's classification of $GL_2^+(\mathbb{R})$-orbit closures in genus two. Decay of Correlations for the Rauzy-Veech-Zorich Induction Map on the Space of Interval Exchange Transformations and the Central Limit Theorem for the Teichmueller Flow on the Moduli Space of Abelian Differentials

A stretched-exponential bound is obtained for the decay of correlations of the Rauzy-Veech-Zorich induction map on the space of interval exchange transformations. A Corollary is the Central Limit Theorem for the Teichmueller flow on the moduli space of abelian differentials. The proof involves an approximation of the induction map by a Markov chain satisfying the Doeblin condition, the method of Sinai and Bunimovich--Sinai. The main estimate is Lemma 4. Dynamics and geometry of the Rauzy-Veech induction for quadratic differentials

Interval exchange maps are related to geodesic flows on translation surfaces; they correspond to the first return maps of the vertical flow on a transverse segment. The Rauzy-Veech induction on the space of interval exchange maps provides a powerful tool to analyze the Teichmueller geodesic flow on the moduli space of Abelian differentials. Completely periodic directions and orbit closures of many pseudo-Anosov Teichmueller discs in Q(1,1,1,1)

In this paper, we investigate the closure of a large class of Teichmüller discs in the stratum Q(1,1,1,1) or equivalently, in a GL^+_2(R)-invariant locus L of translation surfaces of genus three. We describe a systematic way to prove that the GL^+_2(R)-orbit closure of a translation surface in L is the whole of L. The strategy of the proof is an analysis of completely periodic directions on such a surface and an iterated application of Ratner's theorem to unipotent subgroups acting on an ``adequate'' splitting. Right-angled billiards and volumes of moduli spaces of quadratic differentials on $\mathbb{C}P^1$

We use the relation between the volumes of the strata of meromorphic quadratic differentials with at most simple poles on the Riemann sphere and counting functions of the number of (bands of) closed geodesics in associated flat metrics with singularities to prove a very explicit formula for the volume of each such stratum conjectured by M. Kontsevich a decade ago.
