For a fractional Brownian motion $B^H$ with Hurst parameter $H\in]{1/4},{1/2}[\cup]{1/2},1[$, multiple indefinite integrals on a simplex are constructed and the regularity of their sample paths are studied. Then, it is proved that the family of probability laws of the processes obtained by replacing $B^H$ by $ε^{1/2} B^H$ satisfies a large deviation principle in Hölder norm. The definition of the multiple integrals relies upon a representation of the fractional Brownian motion in terms of a stochastic integral with respect to a standard Brownian motion. For the large deviation principle, the abstract general setting given by Ledoux in [Lecture Notes in Math., vol. 1426 (1990) 1-14] is used.
In this paper, we consider semilinear stochastic fractional heat equation $\frac{\partial}{\partial t}u_{β,t}(x)=\triangle^{α/2}u_{β,t}(x)+σ(u_{β,t}(x))η_β$. The Gaussian noise $η_β$ is assumed to be colored in space with covariance of the form $E(η_β(t,x)η_β(s,y))=δ(t-s)f_β(x-y)$, where $f_β$ is the Riesz kernel $f_β(x)\propto |x|^{-β}$. We obtain the spatial and temporal H$\ddot{\mbox{o}}$lder continuity of the mild solution.
We investigate some smoothness properties for a transport-diffusion equation involving a class of non-degerate L{é}vy type operators with singular drift. Our main argument is based on a duality method using the molecular decomposition of Hardy spaces through which we derive some H{ö}lder continuity for the associated parabolic PDE. This property will be fulfilled as far as the singular drift belongs to a suitable Morrey-Campanato space for which the regularizing properties of the L{é}vy operator suffice to obtain global H{ö}lder continuity.
We study gradient estimates of $q$-harmonic functions $u$ of the fractional Schr{ö}dinger operator $Δ^{α/2} + q$, $α\in (0,1]$ in bounded domains $D \subset \R^d$. For nonnegative $u$ we show that if $q$ is H{ö}lder continuous of order $η> 1 - α$ then $\nabla u(x)$ exists for any $x \in D$ and $|\nabla u(x)| \le c u(x)/ (\dist(x,\partial D) \wedge 1)$. The exponent $1 - α$ is critical i.e. when $q$ is only $1 - α$ H{ö}lder continuous $\nabla u(x)$ may not exist. The above gradient estimates are well known for $α\in (1,2]$ under the assumption that $q$ belongs to the Kato class $\calJ^{α- 1}$. …
Applying an upper bound estimate for small $L^{2}$ ball probability for fractional Brownian motion (fBm), we prove the non-degeneracy of some Sobolev pseudo-norms of fBm.
We investigate the asymptotic properties of the minimum $L_1$-norm estimator of the drift parameter for fractional Ornstein-Uhlenbeck type process driven by a general Gaussian process.
The main tool for stochastic calculus with respect to a multidimensional process $B$ with small Hölder regularity index is rough path theory. Once $B$ has been lifted to a rough path, a stochastic calculus -- as well as solutions to stochastic differential equations driven by $B$ -- follow by standard arguments. Although such a lift has been proved to exist by abstract arguments \cite{LyoVic07}, a first general, explicit construction has been proposed in \cite{Unt09,Unt09bis} under the name of Fourier normal ordering. The purpose of this short note is to convey the main ideas of the Fourier no…
We study asymptotic normality of the randomized periodogram estimator of quadratic variation in the mixed Brownian--fractional Brownian model. In the semimartingale case, that is, where the Hurst parameter $H$ of the fractional part satisfies $H\in(3/4,1)$, the central limit theorem holds. In the nonsemimartingale case, that is, where $H\in(1/2,3/4]$, the convergence toward the normal distribution with a nonzero mean still holds if $H=3/4$, whereas for the other values, that is, $H\in(1/2,3/4)$, the central convergence does not take place. We also provide Berry--Esseen estimates for the estima…
We derive a high-resolution formula for the quantization and entropy coding approximation quantities for fractional Brownian motion, respective to the supremum norm and L^p[0,1]-norm distortions. We show that all moments in the quantization problem lead to the same asymptotics. Using a general principle, we conclude that entropy coding and quantization coincide asymptotically. Under supremum-norm distortion, our proof uses an explicit construction of efficient codebooks based on a particular entropy constrained coding scheme. This procedure can be used to construct close to optimal high resolu…
Let $q\geq 2$ be a positive integer, $B$ be a fractional Brownian motion with Hurst index $H\in(0,1)$, $Z$ be an Hermite random variable of index $q$, and $H_q$ denote the Hermite polynomial having degree $q$. For any $n\geq 1$, set $V_n=\sum_{k=0}^{n-1} H_q(B_{k+1}-B_k)$. The aim of the current paper is to derive, in the case when the Hurst index verifies $H>1-1/(2q)$, an upper bound for the total variation distance between the laws $\mathscr{L}(Z_n)$ and $\mathscr{L}(Z)$, where $Z_n$ stands for the correct renormalization of $V_n$ which converges in distribution towards $Z$. Our results shou…
Fourier normal ordering \cite{Unt09bis} is a new algorithm to construct explicit rough paths over arbitrary Hölder-continuous multidimensional paths. We apply in this article the Fourier normal ordering ordering algorithm to the construction of an explicit rough path over multi-dimensional fractional Brownian motion $B$ with arbitrary Hurst index $α$ (in particular, for $α\le 1/4$, which was till now an open problem) by regularizing the iterated integrals of the analytic approximation of $B$ defined in \cite{Unt08}. The regularization procedure is applied to 'Fourier normal ordered' iterated i…
We explore a generalisation of the Lévy fractional Brownian field on the Euclidean space based on replacing the Euclidean norm with another norm. A characterisation result for admissible norms yields a complete description of all self-similar Gaussian random fields with stationary increments. Several integral representations of the introduced random fields are derived. In a similar vein, several non-Euclidean variants of the fractional Poisson field are introduced and it is shown that they share the covariance structure with the fractional Brownian field and converge to it. The shape parameter…
We study classical weighted $L^p\to L^q$ inequalities for the fractional maximal operators on $\R^d$, proved originally by Muckenhoupt and Wheeden in the 70's. We establish a slightly stronger version of this inequality with the use of a novel extension of Bellman function method. More precisely, the estimate is deduced from the existence of a certain special function which enjoys appropriate majorization and concavity. From this result and an explicit version of the ``$A_{p-\varepsilon}$ theorem," derived also with Bellman functions, we obtain the sharp inequality of Lacey, Moen, Pérez and To…
We will consider the following stochastic differential equation (SDE): \begin{equation} X_t=X_0+\int_0^tb(X_s,θ_0)ds+σB_t,~~~t\in(0,T], \end{equation} where $\{B_t\}_{t\ge 0}$ is a fractional Brownian motion with Hurst index $H\in(1/2,1)$, $θ_0$ is a parameter that contains a bounded and open convex subset $Θ\subset\mathbb{R}^d$, $\{b(\cdot,θ),θ\inΘ\}$ is a family of drift coefficients with $b(\cdot,θ):\mathbb{R}\rightarrow\mathbb{R}$, and $σ\in\mathbb{R}$ is assumed to be the known diffusion coefficient.
It is well known that, under suitable regularity conditions, the normalized fractional process with fractional parameter $d$ converges weakly to fractional Brownian motion for $d>1/2$. We show that, for any non-negative integer $M$, derivatives of order $m=0,1,\dots,M$ of the normalized fractional process with respect to the fractional parameter $d$, jointly converge weakly to the corresponding derivatives of fractional Brownian motion. As an illustration we apply the results to the asymptotic distribution of the score vectors in the multifractional vector autoregressive model.
