We explore the relationship between contact forms on $\mathbb S^3$ defined by Finsler metrics on $\mathbb S^2$ and the theory developed by H. Hofer, K. Wysocki and E. Zehnder in \cite{HWZ,HWZ1}. We show that a Finsler metric on $\mathbb S^2$ with curvature $K\geq 1$ and with all geodesic loops of length $>π$ is dynamically convex and hence it has either two or infinitely many closed geodesics. We also explain how to explicitly construct $J$-holomorphic embeddings of cylinders asymptotic to Reeb orbits of contact structures arising from Finsler metrics on $\mathbb S^2$ with K=1 thus complementing the results obtained in \cite{HW}.
Complex Finsler vector bundles have been studied mainly by T. Aikou, who defined complex Finsler structures on holomorphic vector bundles. In this paper, we consider the more general case of a holomorphic Lie algebroid E and we introduce Finsler structures, partial and Chern-Finsler connections on it. First, we recall some basic notions on holomorphic Lie algebroids. Then, using an idea from E. Martinez, we introduce the concept of complexified prolongation of such an algebroid. Also, we study nonlinear and linear connections on the tangent bundle of E and on the prolongation of E and we inves…
In this paper, we get an inequality in terms of holomorphic sectional curvature of complex Finsler metrics. As applications, we prove a Schwarz Lemma from a complete Riemannian manifold to a complex Finsler manifold. We also show that a strongly pseudoconvex complex Finsler manifold with semi-positive but not identically zero holomorphic sectional curvature has negative Kodaira dimension under an extra condition.
In this paper, we solve a problem of Kobayashi posed in \cite{Ko4} by introducing a Donaldson type functional on the space $F^+(E)$ of strongly pseudo-convex complex Finsler metrics on $E$ -- a holomorphic vector bundle over a closed Kähler manifold $M$. This Donaldson type functional is a generalization in the complex Finsler geometry setting of the original Donaldson functional and has Finsler-Einstein metrics on $E$ as its only critical points, at which this functional attains the absolute minimum.
A convergence result for perturbed holomorphic cylinders in $\mathbb{R}^{2n}$ is proved; a sequence of perturbed holomorphic cylinders converges to a configuration of two holomorphic disks joined by a flow line. A key step in the computation is played by an a priori exponential estimate.
In this paper, we present two kinds of total Chern forms $c(E,G)$ and $\mathcal{C}(E,G)$ as well as a total Segre form $s(E,G)$ of a holomorphic Finsler vector bundle $π:(E,G)\to M$ expressed by the Finsler metric $G$, which answers a question of J. Faran (\cite{Faran}) to some extent. As some applications, we show that the signed Segre forms $(-1)^ks_k(E,G)$ are positive $(k,k)$-forms on $M$ when $G$ is of positive Kobayashi curvature; we prove, under an extra assumption, that a Finsler-Einstein vector bundle in the sense of Kobayashi is semi-stable; we introduce a new definition of a flat Fi…
$\mathcal{H}-$holomorphic curves are solutions of a specific modification of the pseudoholomorphic curve equation in symplectizations involving a harmonic $1-$form as perturbation term. In this paper we study the asymptotics of $\mathcal{H}-$holomorphic curves defined on a sequence of degenerating cylinders.
In this paper, we first establish several theorems about the estimation of distance function on real and strongly convex complex Finsler manifolds and then obtain a Schwarz lemma from a strongly convex weakly Kähler-Finsler manifold into a strongly pseudoconvex complex Finsler manifold. As applications, we prove that a holomorphic mapping from a strongly convex weakly Kähler-Finsler manifold into a strongly pseudoconvex complex Finsler manifold is necessary constant under an extra condition. In particular, we prove that a holomorphic mapping from a complex Minkowski space into a strongly pseud…
Suppose that $M$ is a Kähler manifold with a pole such that its holomorphic sectional curvature is bounded from below by a constant and its radial sectional curvature is also bounded from below. Suppose that $N$ is a strongly pseudoconvex complex Finsler manifold such that its holomorphic sectional curvature is bounded from above by a negative constant. In this paper, we establish a Schwarz lemma for holomorphic mappings $f$ form $M$ into $N$. As applications, we obtain a Liouville type rigidity result for holomorphic mappings $f$ from $M$ into $N$, as well as a rigidity theorem for bimeromorp…
Let $B_n$ and $P_n$ be the unit ball and the unit polydisk in $\mathbb{C}^n$ with $n\geq 2$ respectively. Denote $\mbox{Aut}(B_n)$ and $\mbox{Aut}(P_n)$ the holomorphic automorphism group of $B_n$ and $P_n$ respectively. In this paper, we prove that $B_n$ admits no $\mbox{Aut}(B_n)$-invariant strongly pseudoconvex complex Finsler metric other than a constant multiple of the Poincar$\acute{\mbox{e}}$-Bergman metric, while $P_n$ admits infinite many $\mbox{Aut}(P_n)$-invariant complete strongly convex complex Finsler metrics other than the Bergman metric. The $\mbox{Aut}(P_n)$-invariant complex …
The aim of this paper is to construct horizontal Chern forms of a holomorphic vector bundle using complex Finsler structures. Also, some properties of these forms are studied.
The paper introduces Laplace-type operators for functions defined on the tangent space of a Finsler Lie algebroid, using a volume form on the prolongation of the algebroid. It also presents the construction of a horizontal Laplace operator for forms defined on the prolongation of the algebroid. All of the Laplace operators considered in the paper are also locally expressed using the Chern-Finsler connection of the algebroid.
The conformal properties of complex Finsler metrics are studied. We give a characterization of a compact complex Finsler manifold to be globally conformal Kähler. The critical points of the total holomorphic curvature and total Ricci curvature in the volume preserved conformal classes are studied. The stability of critical Kähler Finsler metrics is obtained. A Yamabe type problem for mean Ricci curvature is considered.
In this paper, we obtain a necessary and sufficient condition for a $U(n)$-invariant complex Finsler metric $F$ on domains in $\mathbb{C}^n$ to be strongly convex, which also makes it possible to investigate relationship between real and complex Finsler geometry via concrete and computable examples. We prove a rigid theorem which states that a $U(n)$-invariant strongly convex complex Finsler metric $F$ is a real Berwald metric if and only if $F$ comes from a $U(n)$-invariant Hermitian metric. We give a characterization of $U(n)$-invariant weakly complex Berwald metrics with vanishing holomorph…
Gromov has shown how to construct holomorphic maps of the plane to a complex manifold with prescribed values on a lattice. In the present paper, a similar interpolation theorem for pseudo-holomorphic maps from the cylinder S to an almost-complex manifold (M,J) is proved. Properties of the space of pseudo-holomorphic maps from S to (M,J) are derived, in particular a lower bound for the size of this space (in terms of mean dimension). When M is a moduli space of curves, this gives a construction of non-compact complex surfaces. The methods involve an infinite number of surgeries. On the way, a r…
In complex Finsler geometry, an open problem is: does there exist a weakly Kähler Finsler metric which is not Kähler? In this paper, we give an affirmative answer to this open problem. More precisely, we construct a family of the weakly Kähler Finsler metrics which are non-Kähler. The examples belong to the unitary invariant complex Randers metrics. Furthermore, a uniformization theorem of the unitary invariant complex Randers metrics with constant holomorphic curvature is proved under the weakly Kähler condition.
The fundamental properties of $J$-holomorphic maps depend on two inequalities: The gradient inequality gives a pointwise bound on the differential of a $J$-holomorphic map in terms of its energy. The cylinder inequality stipulates and quantifies the exponential decay of energy along cylinders of small total energy. We show these inequalities hold uniformly if the geometry of the target symplectic manifold and Lagrangian boundary condition is appropriately bounded.
We show that if a Finsler metric on $S^2$ with reversibility $r$ has flag curvatures $K$ satisfying $(\frac{r}{r+1})^2 <K \leq 1$, then closed geodesics with specific contact-topological properties cannot exist, in particular there are no closed geodesics with precisely one transverse self-intersection point. This is a special case of a more general phenomenon, and other closed geodesics with many self-intersections are also excluded. We provide examples of Randers type, obtained by suitably modifying the metrics constructed by Katok \cite{katok}, proving that this pinching condition is sharp.…
In 1991, Dajczer and Rodriguez proved in [10] that a complete minimal real Kahler submanifold of codimension 2, if with complex dimension > 2, would be either holomorphic, or a cylinder, or complex ruled. In this article, we generalize their result to real analytic complete real Kahler submanifolds of codimension 4. The conclusion is that such the submanifold, if with complex dimension > 4, would be either partially holomorphic, or a cylinder, or a twisted cylinder in the sense that the complex relative nullity foliation is contained in a strictly larger holomorphic foliation, whose leaves are…
In this paper, we study a notion of hyperbolicity for hyperbolicity foliations with 1-dimensional parabolic leaves, namely the non-existence of holomorphic cylinders along the foliation - holomorphic maps from $\D^{n-1} \times \C$ to the manifold sending each $\{*\} \times \C$ to a leaf. We construct a tensor, that is a leaf-wise holomorphic section of a bundle above the foliated manifold, which vanishes on an open saturated set if and only if there exists such a cylinder through each point of this open set. Thanks to this study, we prove that open sets saturated by compact leaves are union of…
For a strongly pseudo-convex complex Finsler manifold M, a bundle U of adapted unitary frames is canonically defined. A non-linear Hermitian connection on U, invariant under local biholomorphic isometries, is given and it proved to be unique. By means of such connection, an absolute parallelism on U is determined and a new set of structure functions which generate all the isometric invariants of a Finsler metric is obtained. A pseudo-convex complex Finsler manifolds M, which admits a totally geodesic complex curve with a given constant holomorphic sectional curvature through any point and any …
In the first part of this dissertation, we give a new definition of a Laplace operator for Finsler metric as an average, with regard to an angle measure, of the second directional derivatives. This operator is elliptic, symmetric with respect to the Holmes-Thompson volume, and coincides with the usual Laplace--Beltrami operator when the Finsler metric is Riemannian. We compute explicit spectral data for some Katok-Ziller metrics. When the Finsler metric is negatively curved, we show, thanks to a result of Ancona that the Martin boundary is Hölder-homeomorphic to the visual boundary. This allow…
We prove that a primitive harmonic map is equivariant if and only if it admits a holomorphic potential of degree one. We investigate when the equivariant harmonic map is periodic, and as an application discuss constant mean curvature cylinders with screw motion symmetries.
In this paper, we obtain a Schwarz lemma for holomorphic mappings from the unit polydisc $P_m$ into the unit polydisc $P_n$, here $P_m$ and $P_n$ are endowed with $\mbox{Aut}(P_m)$-invariant Kähelr-Berwald metric $F_{t,k}$ and $\mbox{Aut}(P_n)$-invariant Kähler-Berwald metric $\tilde{F}_{\tilde{t},\tilde{k}}$ respectively. Our result generalizes the Schwarz lemma for holomorphic mappings from $P_m$ into $P_n$ whenever $P_m$ and $P_n$ are endowed with the Bergman metrics respectively. We also obtain a distortion theorem on the unit polydisc $P_m$, where $P_m$ is endowd with an $\mbox{Aut}(P_m)$…
In this paper, we introduce notions of nonlinear stabilities for a relative ample line bundle over a holomorphic fibration and define the notion of a geodesic-Einstein metric on this line bundle, which generalize the classical stabilities and Hermitian-Einstein metrics of holomorphic vector bundles. We introduce a Donaldson type functional and show that this functional attains its absolute minimum at geodesic-Einstein metrics, and we also discuss the relations between the existence of geodesic-Einstein metrics and the nonlinear stabilities of the line bundle. As an application, we will prove t…
For any open orientable surface $M$ and convex domain $Ω\subset \mathbb{C}^3,$ there exists a Riemann surface $N$ homeomorphic to $M$ and a complete proper null curve $F:N\toΩ.$ This result follows from a general existence theorem with many applications. Among them, the followings: For any convex domain $Ω$ in $\mathbb{C}^2$ there exist a Riemann surface $N$ homeomorphic to $M$ and a complete proper holomorphic immersion $F:N\toΩ.$ Furthermore, if $D \subset \mathbb{R}^2$ is a convex domain and $Ω$ is the solid right cylinder $\{x \in \mathbb{C}^2 | {Re}(x) \in D\},$ then $F$ can be chosen so …
In this work, we consider the model of $\mathbb{S}^2\times\mathbb{R}$ isometric to $\mathbb{R}^3\setminus \{0\}$, endowed with a metric conformally equivalent to the Euclidean metric of $\mathbb{R}^3$, and we define a Gauss map for surfaces in this model likewise in the $3-$Euclidean space. We show as a main result that any two minimal conformal immersions in $\mathbb{S}^2\times\mathbb{R}$ with the same non-constant Gauss map differ by only two types of ambient isometries: either $f=(\mathrm{id},T)$, where $T$ is a translation on $\mathbb{R}$, or $f=(\mathcal{A},T)$, where $\mathcal{A}$ denote…
