The paper is dedicated to the problem of adding a modality to the \Lukasiewicz many-valued logics in the purpose of obtaining completeness results for Kripke semantics. We define a class of modal many-valued logics and their corresponding Kripke models and modal many-valued algebras. Completeness results are considered through the construction of a canonical model. Completeness is obtained for modal finitely-valued logics but also for a modal many-valued system with an infinitary deduction rule. We introduce two classes of frames for the finitely-valued logics and show that they define two distinct classes of Kripke-complete logics.
In this article, we study the inconsistency of a system of $\max$-product fuzzy relational equations and of a system of $\max$-Lukasiewicz fuzzy relational equations. For a system of $\max-\min$ fuzzy relational equations $A \Box_{\min}^{\max} x = b$ and using the $L_\infty$ norm, (Baaj, 2023) showed that the Chebyshev distance $Δ= \inf_{c \in \mathcal{C}} \Vert b - c \Vert$, where $\mathcal{C}$ is the set of second members of consistent systems defined with the same matrix $A$, can be computed by an explicit analytical formula according to the components of the matrix $A$ and its second membe…
We study a real valued propositional logic with unbounded positive and negative truth values that we call R-valued logic. Such logic slightly extends continuous propositional logic which, in turn, builds on Lukasiewicz many-valued logic. After presenting the deduction machinery and the semantics of R-valued logic, we prove a completeness theorem for finite theories. Then we define unital and Archimedean theories, in accordance with the theory of Riesz spaces. In the unital setting, we prove the equivalence of consistency and satisfiability and an approximated completeness theorem similar to th…
Lukasiewicz logic is a "fuzzy" logic in which truth value can be real numbers in the unit interval. There are connectives for min, max, addition and complement (1-x). The "value" of a closed formula in a fuzzy (relational model) is defined in the natural way. A formula is called valid iff it has value 1 in every fuzzy model. We show that the set of valid formulas in Lukasiewicz predicate logic is a complete Pi^0_2 set. We also show that if we restrict our attention to the classical language (min, max, complement) then the classically valid formulas are exactly those formulas whose fuzzy value …
The logics RL, RP, and RG have been obtained by expanding Lukasiewicz logic L, product logic P, and Gödel--Dummett logic G with rational constants. We study the lattices of extensions and structural completeness of these three expansions, obtaining results that stand in contrast to the known situation in L, P, and G. Namely, RL is hereditarily structurally complete. RP is algebraized by the variety of rational product algebras that we show to be Q-universal. We provide a base of admissible rules in RP, show their decidability, and characterize passive structural completeness for extensions of …
The present paper is devoted to study some completeness properties of transitive binary relational set, i.e., a set together with a transitive binary relation (so called t-set).

Using recent results in topos theory, two systems of higher-order logic are shown to be complete with respect to sheaf models over topological spaces---so-called ``topological semantics''. The first is classical higher-order logic, with relational quantification of finitely high type; the second system is a predicative fragment thereof with quantification over functions between types, but not over arbitrary relations. The second theorem applies to intuitionistic as well as classical logic.
The aim of this paper is to show that even if the natural algebraic semantic for modal (normal) logic is modal algebra, the more general class of subordination algebras (roughly speaking, the non symmetric contact algebras) is adequate too - so leading to completeness results. This motivates for an algebraic (in the sense of universal algebra) study of those relational structures that are subordinate algebras.
This paper presents the logic QRC$_1$, which is a strictly positive fragment of quantified modal logic. The intended reading of the diamond modality is that of consistency of a formal theory. Predicate symbols are interpreted as parametrized axiomatizations. We prove arithmetical soundness of the logic QRC$_1$ with respect to this arithmetical interpretation. Quantified provability logic is known to be undecidable. However, the undecidability proof cannot be performed in our signature and arithmetical reading. We conjecture the logic QRC$_1$ to be arithmetically complete. This paper takes the …
We investigate a recent proposal for modal hypersequent calculi. The interpretation of relational hypersequents incorporates an accessibility relation along the hypersequent. These systems give the same interpretation of hypersequents as Lellman's linear nested sequents, but were developed independently by Restall for S5 and extended to other normal modal logics by Parisi. The resulting systems obey Dosen's principle: the modal rules are the same across different modal logics. Different modal systems only differ in the presence or absence of external structural rules. With the exception of S5,…
This paper continues the investigation of the logic of competing theories, be they scientific, social, political etc. We introduce a many-valued, multi-type modal language which we endow with relational semantics based on enriched reflexive graphs, inspired by Ploščica's representation of general lattices. We axiomatize the resulting many-valued, non-distributive modal logic of these structures and prove a completeness theorem. We illustrate the application of this logic through a case study in which we model competition among interacting political promises and social demands within an arena o…
Interpretability logics are endowed with relational semantics à la Kripke: Veltman semantics. For certain applications though, this semantics is not fine-grained enough. Back in 1992, in the research group of de Jongh, the notion of generalised Veltman semantics emerged to obtain certain non-derivability results as was first presented by Verbrugge ([76]). It has turned out that this semantics has various good properties. In particular, in many cases completeness proofs become simpler and the richer semantics will allow for filtration arguments as opposed to regular Veltman semantics. This pape…
In this paper we investigate certain systems of propositional intuitionistic modal logic defined semantically in terms of neighborhood structures. We discuss various restrictions imposed on those frames but our constant approach is to discard superset axiom. Such assumption allows us to think about specific modalities $Δ, \nabla$ and new functor $\rightsquigarrow$ depending on the notion of maximal neighborhood. We show how it is possible to treat our models as bi-relational ones. We prove soundness and completeness of proposed axiomatization by means of canonical model. Moreover, we show that…
We propose a new modal logic endowed with a simple deductive system to interpret Aristotle's theory of the modal syllogism. While being inspired by standard propositional modal logic it is also a logic of terms that admits a (sound) extensional semantics involving possible states-of-affairs in a given world. Applied to the analysis of Aristotle's modal syllogistic as found in the \emph{Prior Analytics} A8-22 it sheds light on various fine-grained distinctions which when made allow us to clarify some ambiguities and obtain a completely consistent system and prove all of the modal syllogisms con…

We develop a framework for epistemic logic that combines relevant modal logic with classical propositional logic. In our framework the agent is modeled as reasoning in accordance with a relevant modal logic while the propositional fragment of our logics is classical. In order to achieve this feature, we modify the relational semantics for relevant modal logics so that validity in a model is defined as satisfaction throughout a set of designated states that, as far as propositional connectives are concerned, behave like classical possible worlds. The main technical result of the paper is a modu…
Fix 2<n<ω. Let L_n denote first order logic restricted to the first n variables. CA_n denotes the class of cylindric algebras of dimension n and for m>n, Nr_n\CA_m(\subseteq CA_n) denotes the class of n-neat reducts of CA_m's. The existence of certain finite relation algebras and finite CA_n's lacking relativized complete representations is shown to imply that the omitting types theorem (OTT) fails for L_n with respect to clique guarded semantics (which is an equivalent formalism of its packed fragments), and for the multi-dimensional modal logic S5^n. Several such relation and cylindric algeb…
