We give an explicit description of the set of all factorization structures, or twisting maps, existing between the algebras k^2 and k^2, and classify the resulting algebras up to isomorphism. In the process we relate several different approaches formerly taken to deal with this problem, filling a gap that appeared in a recent paper by Cibils. We also provide a counterexample to a result concerning the Hochschild (co)homology appeared in a paper by J.A. Guccione and J.J. Guccione.
We classify the twisted tensor products of a finite set algebra with a two elements set algebra using colored quivers obtained through considerations analogous to Ore extensions. This provides also a classification of entwining structures between a finite set algebra and the grouplike coalgebra on two elements. The resulting 2-nilpotent algebras have particular features with respect to Hochschild (co)homology and cyclic homology.
We give algebraic and geometric classifications of complex $4$-dimensional nilpotent noncommutative Jordan algebras. Specifically, we find that, up to isomorphism, there are only $18$ non-isomorphic nontrivial nilpotent noncommutative Jordan algebras. The corresponding geometric variety is determined by the Zariski closure of $3$ rigid algebras and $2$ one-parametric families of algebras.
Let $S$ be a $3$-dimensional quantum polynomial algebra, and $f \in S_2$ a central regular element. The quotient algebra $A = S/(f)$ is called a noncommutative conic. For a noncommutative conic $A$, there is a finite dimensional algebra $C(A)$ which determines the singularity of $A$. In this paper, we mainly focus on a noncommutative conic such that its quadratic dual is commutative, which is equivalent to say, $S$ is determined by a symmetric regular superpotential. We classify these noncommutative conics up to isomorphism of the pairs $(S,f)$, and calculate the algebras $C(A)$.
We introduce the notion of quantum duplicates of an (associative, unital) algebra, motivated by the problem of constructing toy-models for quantizations of certain configuration spaces in quantum mechanics. The proposed (algebraic) model relies on the classification of factorization structures with a two-dimensional factor. In the present paper, main properties of this particular kind of structures are determined, and we present a complete description of quantum duplicates of finite set algebras. As an application, we obtain a classification (up to isomorphism) of all the algebras of dimension…
This paper studies etale twists of derived categories of schemes and associative algebras. A general method, based on a new construction called the twisted Brauer space, is given for classifying etale twists, and a complete classification is carried out for genus 0 curves, quadrics, and noncommutative projective spaces. A partial classification is given for curves of higher genus. The techniques build upon my recent work with David Gepner on the Brauer groups of commutative ring spectra.
In noncommutative algebraic geometry, noncommutative quadric hypersurfaces are major objects of study. In this paper, we focus on studying noncommutative conics $\operatorname{Proj_{nc}} A$ embedded into Calabi-Yau quantum projective planes. In particular, we give complete classifications of homogeneous coordinate algebras $A$ of noncommutative conics up to isomorphism of graded algebras, and of noncommutive conics $\operatorname{Proj_{nc}} A$ up to isomorphism of noncommutative schemes.
We develop a general noncommutative version of Balmer's tensor triangular geometry that is applicable to arbitrary monoidal triangulated categories (M$Δ$Cs). Insight from noncommutative ring theory is used to obtain a framework for prime, semiprime, and completely prime (thick) ideals of an M$Δ$C, ${\bf K}$, and then to associate to ${\bf K}$ a topological space--the Balmer spectrum $\operatorname{Spc} {\bf K}$. We develop a general framework for (noncommutative) support data, coming in three different flavors, and show that $\operatorname{Spc} {\bf K}$ is a universal terminal object for the f…
We classify the RBA-bases of $6$-dimensional noncommutative semisimple algebras for which the algebra has a positive degree map. We show that these RBAs are parametrized by seven real numbers, the first four of which are positive and the remaining three arbitrary. Our classification gives formulas for their standard bases and structure constants. Using these we give a list of all noncommutative integral table algebras of rank 6 with order up to 150. Four in the list are primitive, but we show these cannot be realized as adjacency algebras of association schemes. In the last section of the pape…
A subspace of an algebra with involution is called a Lie skew-ideal if it is closed under Lie products with skew-symmetric elements. Lie skew-ideals are classified in central simple algebras with involution (there are eight of them for involutions of the first kind and four for involutions of the second kind) and this classification result is used to characterize noncommutative polynomials via their values in these algebras. As an application, we deduce that a polynomial is a sum of commutators and a polynomial identity of $d\times d$ matrices if and only if all of its values in the algebra of…
One of the major open problems in noncommutative algebraic geometry is the classification of noncommutative projective surfaces (or, slightly more generally, of noetherian connected graded domains of Gelfand-Kirillov dimension 3). Earlier work of the authors classified the connected graded noetherian subalgebras of Sklyanin algebras using a noncommutative analogue of blowing up. In order to understand other algebras birational to a Sklyanin algebra, one also needs a notion of blowing down. This is achieved in this paper, where we give a noncommutative analogue of Castelnuovo's classic theorem …
All iterated skew polynomial extensions arising from quantized universal enveloping algebras of Kac-Moody algebras are special examples of a very large, axiomatically defined class of algebras, called CGL extensions. For the purposes of constructing initial clusters for quantum cluster algebra structures on an algebra R, and classification of the automorphisms of R, one needs embeddings of R into quantum tori T which have the property that R contains the corresponding quantum affine space algebra A. We explicitly construct such an embedding A \subseteq R \subset T for each CGL extension R usin…
We introduce the symplectic group $\mathrm{Sp}_2(A,σ)$ over a noncommutative algebra $A$ with an anti-involution $σ$. We realize several classical Lie groups as $\mathrm{Sp}_2$ over various noncommutative algebras, which provides new insights into their structure theory. We construct several geometric spaces, on which the groups $\mathrm{Sp}_2(A,σ)$ act. We introduce the space of isotropic $A$-lines, which generalizes the projective line. We describe the action of $\mathrm{Sp}_2(A,σ)$ on isotropic $A$-lines, generalize the Kashiwara-Maslov index of triples and the cross ratio of quadruples of …
Let $p$ be a prime. We complete the classification on pointed Hopf algebras of dimension $p^2$ over an algebraically closed field $k$. When $\text{char}k \neq p$, our result is the same as the well-known result for $\text{char}k=0$. When $\text{char}k=p$, we obtain 14 types of pointed Hopf algebras of dimension $p^2$, including a unique noncommutative and noncocommutative type.
A major current goal of noncommutative geometry is the classification of noncommutative projective surfaces. The generic case is to understand algebras birational to the Sklyanin algebra. In this work we complete a considerable component of this problem. Let S denote the 3-dimensional Sklyanin algebra over an algebraically closed field, and assume that S is not a finite module over its centre. In earlier work Rogalski, Sierra and Stafford classified the maximal orders inside the 3-Veronese of S. We complete and extend their work and classify all maximal orders inside S. As in Rogalski, Sierra …
One of the major open problems in noncommutative algebraic geometry is the classification of noncommutative surfaces, and this paper resolves a significant case of this problem. Specifically, let S denote the 3-dimensional Sklyanin algebra over an algebraically closed field k and assume that S is not a finite module over its centre. (This algebra corresponds to a generic noncommutative P^2.) Let A be any connected graded k-algebra that is contained in and has the same quotient ring as a Veronese ring S^(3n). Then we give a reasonably complete description of the structure of A. This is most sat…

Classification of AS-regular algebras is one of the main interests in noncommutative algebraic geometry. We say that a $3$-dimensional quadratic AS-regular algebra is of Type EC if its point scheme is an elliptic curve in $\mathbb{P}^{2}$. In this paper, we give a complete list of geometric pairs and a complete list of twisted superpotentials corresponding to such algebras. As an application, we show that there are only two exceptions up to isomorphism among all $3$-dimensional quadratic AS-regular algebras which cannot be written as a twist of a Calabi-Yau AS-regular algebra by a graded algeb…
We solve the problem of extension of characters of commutative subalgebras in associative (noncommutative) algebras for a class of subrings (Galois orders) in skew group rings. These results can be viewed as a noncommutative analogue of liftings of prime ideals in the case of integral extensions of commutative rings. The proposed approach can be applied to the representation theory of many infinite dimensional algebras including universal enveloping algebras of reductive Lie algebras, Yangians and finite $W$-algebras. In particular, we develop a theory of Gelfand-Tsetlin modules for $\gl_n$. B…
The noncommutative projective scheme $\operatorname{\mathsf{Proj_{nc}}} S$ of a $(\pm 1)$-skew polynomial algebra $S$ in $n$ variables is considered to be a $(\pm 1)$-skew projective space of dimension $n-1$. In this paper, using combinatorial methods, we give a classification theorem for $(\pm 1)$-skew projective spaces. Specifically, among other equivalences, we prove that $(\pm 1)$-skew projective spaces $\operatorname{\mathsf{Proj_{nc}}} S$ and $\operatorname{\mathsf{Proj_{nc}}} S'$ are isomorphic if and only if certain graphs associated to $S$ and $S'$ are switching (or mutation) equivale…
A coassociative Lie algebra is a Lie algebra equipped with a coassociative coalgebra structure satisfying a compatibility condition. The enveloping algebra of a coassociative Lie algebra can be viewed as a coalgebraic deformation of the usual universal enveloping algebra of a Lie algebra. This new enveloping algebra provides interesting examples of noncommutative and noncocommutative Hopf algebras and leads to a classification of connected Hopf algebras of Gelfand-Kirillov dimension four in [WZZ].
