We set up a general framework for enriching a subcategory of the category of noncommutative sets over a category C using products of the objects of a non-Σoperad P in \C. By viewing the simplicial category as a subcategory of the category of noncommutative sets in two different ways, we obtain two generalizations of simplicial objects. For the operad given by the Stasheff associahedra we obtain a model for the 2-sided bar construction in the first case and the cyclic bar and cobar construction in the second case. Using either the associahedra or the cyclohedra in place of the geometric simplices we can define the geometric realization of these objects.
In the present paper the cyclic homology functor from the category of $A_\infty$-algebras over any commutative unital ring $K$ to the category of graded $K$-modules is constructed. Further, it is showed that this functor sends homotopy equivalences of $A_\infty$-algebras into isomorphisms of graded modules. As a corollary, it is obtained that the cyclic homology of an $A_\infty$-algebra over any field is isomorphic to the cyclic homology of the $A_\infty$-algebra of homologies for the source $A_\infty$-algebra.
Given two cyclic A$_\infty$-algebras $A$ and $B$, we prove that there exists a cyclic A$_\infty$-algebra structure on their tensor product $A\otimes B$ which is unique up to a cyclic A$_\infty$-quasi-isomorphism. Furthermore, the Kontsevich class of $A\otimes B$ is equal to the cup product of the Kontsevich classes of $A$ and $B$ on the moduli space of curves.
We show that the tensor product of two cyclic $A_\infty$-algebras is, in general, not a cyclic $A_\infty$-algebra, but an $A_\infty$-algebra with homotopy inner product. More precisely, we construct an explicit combinatorial diagonal on the pairahedra, which are contractible polytopes controlling the combinatorial structure of an $A_\infty$-algebra with homotopy inner products, and use it to define a categorically closed tensor product. A cyclic $A_\infty$-algebra can be thought of as an $A_\infty$-algebra with homotopy inner products whose higher inner products are trivial. However, the highe…
We exhibit the simplex category $Δ$ and Segal's category $Γ$ as $\infty$-categorical localizations of the dendroidal categories $Ω_π$ and $Ω$ introduced by Moerdijk and Weiss. As an application we obtain an equivalence of $\infty$-categories between invertible $\infty$-operads and the $2$-Segal spaces of Dyckerhoff and Kapranov. Finally, we describe a cyclic version of the dendroidal category and explain how it $\infty$-localizes to Connes's cyclic category $Λ$.
$A_\infty$ categories are a mathematical structure that appears in topological field theory, string topology, and symplectic topology. This paper studies the cyclic homology of a Calabi-Yau $A_\infty$ category, and shows that it is naturally an equivariant topological conformal field theory, and in particular, contains an involutive Lie bialgebra. Applications of the theory to string topology and the Fukaya category are given; in particular, it is shown that there is a Lie bialgebra homomorphism from the cyclic cohomology of the Fukaya category of a symplectic manifold with contact type bounda…
First we describe a class of homotopy Frobenius algebras via cyclic operads which we call cyclic $A_\infty$ algebras. We then define a suitable new combinatorial operad which acts on the Hochschild cochains of such an algebra in a manner which encodes the homotopy BV structure. Moreover we show that this operad is equivalent to the cellular chains of a certain topological (quasi)-operad of CW complexes whose constituent spaces form a homotopy associative version of the Cacti operad of Voronov. These cellular chains thus constitute a chain model for the framed little disks operad, proving a cyc…
Using the $E_\infty-$structure on singular cochains, we construct a homotopy coherent map from the cyclic bar construction of the differential graded algebra of cochains on a space to a model for the cochains on its free loop space. This fills a gap in the paper "Cyclic homology and equivariant homology" by John D.S. Jones.
We provide a new combinatorial approach to studying the collection of N-infinity-operads in G-equivariant homotopy theory for G a finite cyclic group. In particular, we show that for G the cyclic group of order p^n the natural order on the collection of N-infinity-operads stands in bijection with the poset structure of the (n+1)-associahedron. We further provide a lower bound for the number of possible N-infinity-operads for any finite cyclic group G.
The cyclic bar construction in symmetric spectra and Bökstedt's original construction are two possible ways to define the topological Hochschild homology of a symmetric ring spectrum. In this short note we explain how to correct an error in Shipley's original comparison of these two approaches.
We define Hochschild and cyclic homologies for bornological coarse spaces: for a fixed field $k$ and group $G$, these are lax symmetric monoidal functors $\mathcal{X}HH_{k}^G$ and $\mathcal{X}HC_{k}^G$ from the category of equivariant bornological coarse spaces $G\mathbf{BornCoarse}$ to the cocomplete stable $\infty$-category of chain complexes $\mathbf{Ch}_\infty$. We relate these equivariant coarse homology theories to coarse algebraic $K$-theory $\mathcal{X} K^G_{k}$ and to coarse ordinary homology $\mathcal{X} H^G$ by constructing a trace-like natural transformation $\mathcal{X} K_{k}^G\to…
This paper is our first step in establishing a de Rham model for equivariant twisted $K$-theory using machinery from noncommutative geometry. Let $G$ be a compact Lie group, $M$ a compact manifold on which $G$ acts smoothly. For any $α\in H^3_G (M, {\mathbb Z})$ we introduce a notion of localized equivariant twisted cohomology $H^\bullet ({\barΩ}^\bullet (M, G, L)_g, d^α_{G^g})$, indexed by $g\in G$. We prove that there exists a natural family of chain maps, indexed by $g\in G$, inducing a family of morphisms from the equivariant periodic cyclic homology $HP^G_\bullet ( C^\infty (M, α) )$, whe…
We define combinatorial counterparts to the geometric string vertices of Sen-Zwiebach and Costello-Zwiebach, which are certain closed subsets of the moduli spaces of curves. Our combinatorial vertices contain the same information as the geometric ones, are effectively computable, and act on the Hochschild chains of a cyclic $A_\infty$-algebra. This is the first in a series of two papers where we define enumerative invariants associated to a pair consisting of a cyclic $A_\infty$-algebra and a splitting of the Hodge filtration on its cyclic homology. These invariants conjecturally generalize th…
We give a new formula for real topological cyclic homology that refines the fiber sequence formula discovered by Nikolaus and Scholze for topological cyclic homology to one involving genuine $C_2$-spectra. To accomplish this, we give a new definition of the $\infty$-category of real cyclotomic spectra that replaces the usage of genuinely equivariant dihedral spectra with the parametrized Tate construction. We then define an $\infty$-categorical version of Høgenhaven's O(2)-orthogonal cyclotomic spectra, construct a forgetful functor relating the two theories, and show that this functor restric…
We prove that the bar construction of an $E_\infty$ algebra forms an $E_\infty$ algebra. To be more precise, we provide the bar construction of an algebra over the surjection operad with the structure of a Hopf algebra over the Barratt-Eccles operad. (The surjection operad and the Barratt-Eccles operad are classical $E_\infty$ operads.)
We study cohomology theories of strongly homotopy algebras, namely $A_\infty, C_\infty$ and $L_\infty$-algebras and establish the Hodge decomposition of Hochschild and cyclic cohomology of $C_\infty$-algebras thus generalising previous work by Loday and Gerstenhaber-Schack. These results are then used to show that a $C_\infty$-algebra with an invariant inner product on its cohomology can be uniquely extended to a symplectic $C_\infty$-algebra (an $\infty$-generalisation of a commutative Frobenius algebra introduced by Kontsevich). As another application, we show that the `string topology' oper…
Transfer systems are combinatorial objects which classify $N_\infty$ operads up to homotopy. By results of A. Blumberg and M. Hill, every transfer system associated to a linear isometries operad is also saturated (closed under a particular two-out-of-three property). We investigate saturated and linear isometric transfer systems with equivariance group $C_{p^mq^n}$, the cyclic group of order $p^mq^n$ for $p,q$ distinct primes and $m,n\ge 0$. We give a complete enumeration of saturated transfer systems for $C_{p^mq^n}$. We also prove J. Rubin's saturation conjecture for $C_{pq^n}$; this says th…
We give a new formula for $p$-typical real topological cyclic homology that refines the fiber sequence formula discovered by Nikolaus and Scholze for $p$-typical topological cyclic homology to one involving genuine $C_2$-spectra. To accomplish this, we give a new definition of the $\infty$-category of real $p$-cyclotomic spectra that replaces the usage of genuinely equivariant dihedral spectra with the parametrized Tate construction $(-)^{t_{C_2} μ_p}$ associated to the dihedral group $D_{2p} = μ_p \rtimes C_2$. We then define a $p$-typical and $\infty$-categorical version of Høgenhaven's $O(2…
We introduce an explicit combinatorial characterization of the minimal model ${\cal O}_{\infty}$ of the coloured operad ${\cal O}$ encoding non-symmetric operads. In our description of ${\cal O}_{\infty}$, the spaces of operations are defined in terms of hypergraph polytopes and the composition structure generalizes the one of the $A_{\infty}$-operad. As further generalizations of this construction, we present a combinatorial description of the $W$-construction applied on ${\cal O}$, as well as of the minimal model of the coloured operad ${\cal C}$ encoding non-symmetric cyclic operads.
We show that the complex $C_\bullet X$ of rational simplicial chains on a compact and triangulated Poincaré duality space $X$ of dimension $d$ is an A$_\infty$ coalgebra with $\infty$ duality. This is the structure required for an A$_\infty$ version of the cyclic Deligne conjecture. One corollary is that the shifted Hochschild cohomology $HH^{\bullet+d} (C^\bullet X, C_\bullet X)$ of the cochain algebra $C^\bullet X$ with values in $C_\bullet X$ has a BV structure. This implies, if $X$ is moreover simply connected, that the shifted homology $H_{\bullet+d}LX$ of the free loop space admits a BV …
