Non-separable Hilbert manifolds of continuous mappings

Let $X, Y$ be separable metrizable spaces, where $X$ is noncompact and $Y$ is equipped with an admissible complete metric $d$. We show that the space $C(X,Y)$ of continuous maps from $X$ into $Y$ equipped with the uniform topology is locally homeomorphic to the Hilbert space of weight $2^{\aleph_0}$ if (1) $(Y, d)$ is an ANRU, a uniform version of ANR and (2) the diameters of components of $Y$ is bounded away from zero. The same conclusion holds for the subspace $C_B(X,Y)$ of bounded maps if $Y$ is a connected complete Riemannian manifold.

In this paper, we characterize infinite-dimensional manifolds modeled on absorbing sets in non-separable Hilbert spaces by using the discrete cells property, which is a general position property. On a hyperspace of compact subsets which is homeomorphic to a non-separable Hilbert space

Let $X$ be a metrizable space and ${\rm Comp}(X)$ be the hyperspace consisting of non-empty compact subsets of $X$ endowed with the Vietoris topology. In this paper, we give a necessary and sufficient condition on $X$ for ${\rm Comp}(X)$ to be homeomorphic to a non-separable Hilbert space. Moreover, we consider the topological structure of pair $({\rm Comp}(\overline{X}),{\rm Fin}(X))$ of hyperspaces of $X$ and its completion $\overline{X}$, where ${\rm Fin}(X)$ is the hyperspace of non-empty finite sets in $X$.

The Urysohn universal metric space is homeomorphic to a Hilbert space

The Urysohn universal metric space U is characterized up to isometry by the following properties: (1) U is complete and separable; (2) U contains an isometric copy of every separable metric space; (3) every isometry between two finite subsets of U can be extended to an isometry of U onto itself. We show that U is homeomorphic to the Hilbert space l_2 (or to the countable power of the real line).

Topological structures of hyperspaces of finite sets in non-separable metrizable spaces

Let ${\rm Fin}(X)$ be the hyperspace consisting of non-empty finite subsets of a space $X$ endowed with the Vietoris topology. In this paper, we characterize a metrizable space $X$ whose hyperspace ${\rm Fin}(X)$ is homeomorphic to the linear subspace spanned by the canonical orthonormal basis of a non-separable Hilbert space.

Topological structure of non-separable sigma-locally compact convex sets

For an infinite cardinal $κ$ let $\ell_2(κ)$ be the linear hull of the standard othonormal base of the Hilbert space $\ell_2(κ)$ of density $κ$. We prove that a non-separable convex subset $X$ of density $κ$ in a locally convex linear metric space if homeomorphic to the space (i) $\ell_2^f(κ)$ if and only if $X$ can be written as countable union of finite-dimensional locally compact subspaces, (ii) $[0,1]^ω\times \ell_2^f(κ)$ if and only if $X$ contains a topological copy of the Hilbert cube and $X$ can be written as a countable union of locally compact subspaces.

A Banach-Dieudonné theorem for the space of bounded continuous functions on a separable metric space with the strict topology

Let X be a separable metric space and let βbe the strict topology on the space of bounded continuous functions on X, which has the space of τ-additive Borel measures as a continuous dual space. We prove a Banach-Dieudonneé type result for the space of bounded continuous functions equipped with β. As a consequence, this space is hypercomplete and a Pták space. Additionally, the closed graph, inverse mapping and open mapping theorems holds for linear maps between space of this type.

On typical properties of Hilbert space operators

We study the typical behavior of bounded linear operators on infinite dimensional complex separable Hilbert spaces in the norm, strong-star, strong, weak polynomial and weak topologies. In particular, we investigate typical spectral properties, the problem of unitary equivalence of typical operators, and their embeddability into C_0-semigroups. Our results provide information on the applicability of Baire category methods in the theory of Hilbert space operators.
