In this paper we study a new notion of category weight of homology classes developing further the ideas of
E. Fadell and S. Husseini. In the case of closed smooth manifolds the homological category weight is equivalent to the cohomological category weight of E. Fadell and S. Husseini but these two notions are distinct already for Poincaré complexes. An important advantage of the homological category weight is its homotopy invariance. We use the notion of homological category weight to study various generalizations of the Lusternik - Schnirelmann category which appeared in the theory of closed one-forms and have applications in dynamics. Our primary goal is to compare two such invariants $\cat(X,ξ)$ and $\cat^1(X,ξ)$ which are defined similarly with reversion of the order of quantifiers. We compute these invariants explicitly for products of surfaces and show that they may differ by an arbitrarily large quantity. The proof of one of our main results, Theorem \ref{main2}, uses an algebraic characterization of homology classes $z\in H_i(\tilde X;\Z)$ (where $\tilde X\to X$ is a free abelian covering) which are movable to infinity of $\tilde X$ with respect to a prescribed cohomology class $ξ\in H^1(X;\R)$. This result is established in Part II which can be read independently of the rest of the paper.
One of the most useful methods for studying the stable homotopy category is localising at some spectrum E. For an arbitrary stable model category we introduce a candidate for the E-localisation of this model category. We study the properties of this new construction and relate it to some well-known categories.
This text gives a construction of a differential graded Lie algebra in Nori's category of effective homological motives. In fact the construction works in more a general setting than that of an Abelian category. This allows us to give the rational homotopy Lie algebra of a 1-connected space a motivic structure. As a consequence the rational homotopy Lie algebra inherits a mixed Hodge structure and Galois module structure.

An important example of a model category is the category of unbounded chain complexes of R-modules, which has as its homotopy category the derived category of the ring R. This example shows that traditional homological algebra is encompassed by Quillen's homotopical algebra. The goal of this paper is to show that more general forms of homological algebra also fit into Quillen's framework. Specifically, a projective class on a complete and cocomplete abelian category A is exactly the information needed to do homological algebra in A. The main result is that, under weak hypotheses, the category …
A unified splitting result for Ext calculated in the category of modules over a Leibniz algebra is given for the case where coefficients are either both symmetric modules or both antisymmetric modules. This is a generalization of results of Loday and Pirashvili and others.
This article develops several main results for a general theory of homological algebra in categories such as the category of sheaves of idempotent modules over a topos. In the analogy with the development of homological algebra for abelian categories the present paper should be viewed as the analogue of the development of homological algebra for abelian groups. Our selected prototype, the category Bmod of modules over the Boolean semifield B is the replacement for the category of abelian groups. We show that the semi-additive category Bmod fulfills analogues of the axioms AB1 and AB2 for abeli…

The goal of this paper is to show that more general forms of homological algebra also fit into Quillen's framework. We compare the homological support and tensor triangular support for `big' objects in a rigidly-compactly generated tensor triangulated category. We prove that the comparison map from the homological spectrum to the tensor triangular spectrum is a bijection and that the two notions of support coincide whenever the category is stratified, extending work of Balmer. Moreover, we clarify the relations between salient properties of support functions and exhibit counter-examples highlighting the differences between homological and tensor triangular support.

In this dissertation, we compare the "classical" homology of an $ω$-category (defined as the homology of its Street nerve) with its polygraphic homology. More precisely, we prove that both homologies generally do not coincide and call homologically coherent the particular strict $ω$-categories for which polygraphic homology and homology of the nerve do coincide. The goal pursued is to find abstract and concrete criteria to detect homologically coherent $ω$-categories. For example, we prove that all (small) categories, considered as strict $ω$-categories with unit cells above dimension 1, are h…
Theorem 6.1.1 of [H.A.H.A.] on the existence of a model structure on the category of operads is not valid in the generality claimed. We present here a counter-example (due to B. Fresse) and a corrected version of the theorem.
The purpose of this paper is to give information on the FI-homology of the standard injective cogenerators of the category of FI-modules, where FI is the category of finite sets and injections. Working over a field k of characteristic zero, a full calculation is given in homological degree zero and a conjectural description in higher homological degree. The proof of the main theorem reduces to a calculation in representation theory of the symmetric groups, exploiting the Young orthonormal basis.
We use homological perturbation machinery specific for the algebra category [P. Real. Homological Perturbation Theory and Associativity. Homology, Homotopy and Applications vol. 2, n. 5 (2000) 51-88] to give an algorithm for computing the differential structure of a small 1--homological model for commutative differential graded algebras (briefly, CDGAs). The complexity of the procedure is studied and a computer package in Mathematica is described for determining such models.
In Part 1, we describe six projective-type model structures on the category of differential graded modules over a differential graded algebra A over a commutative ring R. When R is a field, the six collapse to three and are well-known, at least to folklore, but in the general case the new relative and mixed model structures offer interesting alternatives to the model structures in common use. The construction of some of these model structures requires two new variants of the small object argument, an enriched and an algebraic one, and we describe these more generally. In Part 2, we present a v…
The theory of derivators enhances and simplifies the theory of triangulated categories. In this article a notion of fibered (multi-)derivator is developed, which similarly enhances fibrations of (monoidal) triangulated categories. We present a theory of cohomological as well as homological descent in this language. The main motivation is a descent theory for Grothendieck's six operations.
Given a rigid tensor-triangulated category and a vector space valued homological functor for which the Künneth isomorphism holds, we construct a universal graded-Tannakian category through which the given homological functor factors. We use this to (unconditionally) construct graded-Tannakian categories of pure motives associated to a fixed Weil cohomology theory, with a fiber functor realizing the given cohomology theory. For $\ell$-adic cohomology and a ground field which is algebraic over a finite field, this category is Tannakian. In this case, we obtain in particular motivic Galois groups…
This is the second in a series of papers laying the foundations for a differential graded approach to derived differential geometry (and other geometries in characteristic zero). In this paper, we extend the classical notion of a dg-algebra to define, in particular, the notion of a differential graded algebra in the world of C-infinity rings. The opposite of the category of differential graded C-infinity algebras contains the category of differential graded manifolds as a full subcategory. More generally, this notion of differential graded algebra makes sense for algebras over any (super) Ferm…
