Indices of Coincidence Isometries of the Hyper Cubic Lattice $Z^n$

The problem of computing the index of a coincidence isometry of the hyper cubic lattice $\mathbb{Z}^{n}$ is considered. The normal form of a rational orthogonal matrix is analyzed in detail, and explicit formulas for the index of certain coincidence isometries of $\mathbb{Z}^{n}$ are obtained. These formulas generalize the known results for $n\le 4$.

Similarity and Coincidence Isometries for Modules

The groups of (linear) similarity and coincidence isometries of certain modules in d-dimensional Euclidean space, which naturally occur in quasicrystallography, are considered. It is shown that the structure of the factor group of similarity modulo coincidence isometries is the direct sum of cyclic groups of prime power orders that divide d. In particular, if the dimension d is a prime number p, the factor group is an elementary Abelian p-group. This generalizes previous results obtained for lattices to situations relevant in quasicrystallography.

Quasi-Isometries, Boundaries and JSJ-Decompositions of Relatively Hyperbolic Groups

We demonstrate the quasi-isometry invariance of two important geometric structures for relatively hyperbolic groups: the coned space and the cusped space. As applications, we produce a JSJ-decomposition for relatively hyperbolic groups which is invariant under quasi-isometries and outer automorphisms, as well as a related splitting of the quasi-isometry groups of relatively hyperbolic groups.

Quasi-isometries Between Groups with Two-Ended Splittings

We construct `structure invariants' of a one-ended, finitely presented group that describe the way in which the factors of its JSJ decomposition over two-ended subgroups fit together. For groups satisfying two technical conditions, these invariants reduce the problem of quasi-isometry classification of such groups to the problem of relative quasi-isometry classification of the factors of their JSJ decompositions. Factoring isometries of quadratic spaces into reflections

Let $V$ be a vector space endowed with a non-degenerate quadratic form $Q$. If the base field $\mathbb{F}$ is different from $\mathbb{F}_2$, it is known that every isometry can be written as a product of reflections. In this article, we detail the structure of the poset of all minimal length reflection factorizations of an isometry. Counting problems in graph products and relatively hyperbolic groups

We study properties of generic elements of groups of isometries of hyperbolic spaces. Under general combinatorial conditions, we prove that loxodromic elements are generic (i.e. they have full density with respect to counting in balls for the word metric) and translation length grows linearly. We provide applications to a large class of relatively hyperbolic groups and graph products, including right-angled Artin groups and right-angled Coxeter groups.

A note on complex-hyperbolic Kleinian groups

Let $Γ$ be a discrete group of isometries acting on the complex hyperbolic $n$-space $\mathbb{H}^n_\mathbb{C}$. In this note, we prove that if $Γ$ is convex-cocompact, torsion-free, and the critical exponent $δ(Γ)$ is strictly lesser than $2$, then the complex manifold $\mathbb{H}^n_\mathbb{C}/Γ$ is Stein. We also discuss several related conjectures.
