In this paper, we characterize unitary representations of the fundamental group of a punctured sphere whose generators can be decomposed into products of two Lagrangian involutions. Our main result is that such representations are exactly the elements of the fixed-point set of an anti-symplectic involution defined on the moduli space of unitary representations of this fundamental group. Consequently, it is a Lagrangian submanifold of this representation space.
Our main result is the $\mathcal{C}^0$-rigidity of the area spectrum and the Maslov class of Lagrangian submanifolds. This relies on the existence of punctured pseudoholomorphic discs in cotangent bundles with boundary on the zero section, whose boundaries represent any integral homology class. We discuss further applications of these punctured discs in symplectic geometry.
We use a neck stretching argument for holomorphic curves to produce symplectic disks of small area and Maslov class with boundary on Lagrangian submanifolds of nonpositive curvature. Applications include the proof of Audin's conjecture on the Maslov class of Lagrangian tori in linear symplectic space, the construction of a new symplectic capacity, obstructions to Lagrangian embeddings into uniruled symplectic manifolds, a quantitative version of Arnold's chord conjecture, and estimates on the size of Weinstein neighbourhoods. The main technical ingredient is transversality for the relevant mod…
In this article, we modify the classical Floer complex $CF(L_0,L_1)$ of a pair of two compact exact Lagrangian submanifolds $L_0,L_1$ of an exact symplectic 2-manifold $M$ into a $\mathbb{Z}_2[T]$-complex $CF_h(L_0,L_1)$, whose differential keeps track of how many times a pseudo-holomorphic strip passes through a distinguished point $h\in M$. We show that this complex is invariant under Hamiltonian isotopy, and we prove that its barcode, if it exists, is the same as both barcodes $\mathcal{B}(CF(L_0,L_1;M))$ and $\mathcal{B}(CF(L_0,L_1;M\setminus \{h \}))$. This allows us to extend a conjectur…
We show that the space of anti-symplectic involutions of a monotone $S^2\times S^2$ whose fixed points set is a Lagrangian sphere is connected. This follows from a stronger result, namely that any two anti-symplectic involutions in that space are Hamiltonian isotopic.
We study the Floer cohomology of the Dehn twist along a real Lagrangian sphere in a symplectic manifold endowed with an anti-symplectic involution. We prove that there exists a distinguished element in the Floer group that is a fixed point of the automorphism induced by the involution. Our methods of proof are based on Mak-Wu's cobordism and Floer-theoretic considerations.
The main purpose of the present paper is a study of orientations of the moduli spaces of pseudo-holomorphic discs with boundary lying on a \emph{real} Lagrangian submanifold, i.e., the fixed point set of an anti-symplectic involutions $τ$ on a symplectic manifold. We introduce the notion of $τ$-relatively spin structure for an anti-symplectic involution $τ$, and study how the orientations on the moduli space behave under the involution $τ$. We also apply this to the study of Lagrangian Floer theory of real Lagrangian submanifolds. In particular, we study unobstructedness of the $τ$-fixed point…
This paper constructs and studies the Rabinowitz (wrapped) Fukaya category, a categorical invariant of exact cylindrical Lagrangians in a Liouville manifold whose cohomological morphisms, ``Rabinowitz wrapped Floer homology groups" measure the failure of wrapped Floer cohomology to satisfy Poincare duality (and in particular vanish for any pair with at least one compact Lagrangian). Our main result, answering a conjecture of Abouzaid, relates the Rabinowitz and usual wrapped Fukaya category by way of a general construction introduced by Efimov, the categorical formal punctured neighborhood of …
In this paper, we construct a Lagrangian submanifold of the moduli space associated to the fundamental group of a punctured Riemann surface (the space of representations of this fundamental group into a compact connected Lie group). This Lagrangian submanifold is obtained as the fixed-point set of an anti-symplectic involution defined on the moduli space. The notion of decomposable representation provides a geometric interpretation of this Lagrangian submanifold.
We consider Lagrangian Floer cohomology for a pair of Lagrangian submanifolds in a symplectic manifold M. Suppose that M carries a symplectic involution, which preserves both submanifolds. Under various topological hypotheses, we prove a localization theorem for Floer cohomology, which implies a Smith-type inequality for the Floer cohomology groups in M and its fixed point set. Two applications to symplectic Khovanov cohomology are included.
Consider a Maslov zero Lagrangian submanifold diffeomorphic to a Lie group on which an anti-symplectic involution acts by the inverse map of the group. We show that the Fukaya $A_\infty$ endomorphism algebra of such a Lagrangian is quasi-isomorphic to its de Rham cohomology tensored with the Novikov field. In particular, it is unobstructed, formal, and its Floer and de Rham cohomologies coincide. Our result implies that the smooth fibers of a large class of singular Lagrangian fibrations are unobstructed and their Floer and de Rham cohomologies coincide. This is a step in the SYZ and family Fl…
We construct fiber-preserving anti-symplectic involutions for a large class of symplectic manifolds with Lagrangian torus fibrations. In particular, we treat the K3 surface and the quintic threefold. We interpret our results as corroboration of the view that in homological mirror symmetry, an anti-symplectic involution is the mirror of duality. In the same setting, we construct fiber-preserving symplectomorphisms that can be interpreted as the mirror to twisting by a holomorphic line bundle.
We study hamiltonian actions of compact groups in the presence of compatible involutions. We show that the lagrangian fixed point set on the symplectically reduced space is isomorphic to the disjoint union of the involutively reduced spaces corresponding to involutions on the group strongly inner to the given one. Our techniques imply that the solution to the eigenvalues of a sum problem for a given real form can be relayed to the quasi-split real form in the same inner class. We also consider invariant quotients with respect to the corresponding real form of the complexified group.
We prove that the count of Maslov index 2 $J$-holomorphic discs passing through a generic point of a real Lagrangian submanifold in a closed spherically monotone symplectic manifold must be even. As a corollary, we exhibit a genuine real symplectic phenomenon in terms of involutions, namely that the Chekanov torus $\mathbb{T}_{\text{Chek}}$ in $S^2\times S^2$, which is a monotone Lagrangian torus not Hamiltonian isotopic to the Clifford torus $\mathbb{T}_{\text{Clif}}$, can be seen as the fixed point set of a smooth involution, but not of an antisymplectic involution.
It is known that every nonorientable surface $Σ$ has an orientable double cover $\tildeΣ$. The covering map induces an involution on the moduli space $\tilde{\M}$ of gauge equivalence classes of flat $G$-connections on $\tildeΣ$. We identify the relation between the moduli space $\M$ and the fixed point set of the moduli space $\tilde{\M}$. In particular, $\M$ is isomorphic to the fixed point set of $\tilde{\M}$ if and only if the order of the center of $G$ is odd. One important application is that we give a way to construct a minimal Lagrangian submanifold of the moduli space $\tilde{\M}$.
Can a given Lagrangian submanifold be realized as the fixed point set of an anti-symplectic involution? If so, it is called \emph{real}. We give an obstruction for a closed Lagrangian submanifold to be real in terms of the displacement energy of nearby Lagrangians. Applying this obstruction to toric fibres, we obtain that the central fibre of many (and probably all) toric monotone symplectic manifolds is real only if the corresponding moment polytope is centrally symmetric. Furthermore, we embed the Chekanov torus in all toric monotone symplectic manifolds and show that it is exotic and not re…
We present a solution to the problem of defining genus zero open Gromov-Witten invariants with boundary constraints for a Lagrangian submanifold of arbitrary dimension. Previously, such invariants were known only in dimensions $2$ and $3$ from the work of Welschinger. Our approach does not require the Lagrangian to be fixed by an anti-symplectic involution, but can use such an involution, if present, to obtain stronger results. Also, non-trivial invariants are defined for broader classes of interior constraints and Lagrangian submanifolds than previously possible even in the presence of an ant…
We define a new family of open Gromov-Witten type invariants based on intersection theory on the moduli space of pseudoholomorphic curves of arbitrary genus with boundary in a Lagrangian submanifold. We assume the Lagrangian submanifold arises as the fixed points of an anti-symplectic involution and has dimension 2 or 3. In the strongly semi-positive genus 0 case, the new invariants coincide with Welschinger's invariant counts of real pseudoholomorphic curves. Furthermore, we calculate the new invariant for the real quintic threefold in genus 0 and degree 1 to be 30.

The quintic threefold $X$ is the most studied Calabi-Yau $3$-fold in the mathematics literature. In this paper, using Čech-to-derived spectral sequences, we investigate the mod $2$ and integral cohomology groups of a real Lagrangian $\breve{L}_{\mathbb{R}}$, obtained as the fixed locus of an anti-symplectic involution in the mirror to $X$. We show that $\breve{L}_{\mathbb{R}}$ is the disjoint union of a $3$-sphere and a rational homology sphere. Analysing the mod $2$ cohomology further, we deduce a correspondence between the mod $2$ Betti numbers of $\breve{L}_{\mathbb{R}}$ and certain counts …
