We establish basic properties of cluster algebras associated with oriented bordered surfaces with marked points. In particular, we show that the underlying cluster complex of such a cluster algebra does not depend on the choice of coefficients, describe this complex explicitly in terms of "tagged triangulations" of the surface, and determine its homotopy type and its growth rate.
In the terms of an `$n$-periodic derived category', we describe explicitly how the orbit category of the bounded derived category of an algebra with respect to powers of the shift functor embeds in its triangulated hull. We obtain a large class of algebras whose orbit categories are strictly smaller than their triangulated hulls and a realization of the phenomenon that an automorphism need not induce the identity functor on the associated orbit category.
Let $R$ be any ring with identity. We show that the homotopy category of all acyclic chain complexes of pure-projective $R$-modules is a compactly generated triangulated category. We do this by constructing abelian model structures that put this homotopy category into a recollement with two other compactly generated triangulated categories: The usual derived category of $R$ and the pure derived category of $R$. This also gives a new model for the derived category.
We construct geometric realization for non-exceptional mutation-finite cluster algebras by extending the theory of Fomin and Thurston to skew-symmetrizable case. Cluster variables for these algebras are renormalized lambda lengths on certain hyperbolic orbifolds. We also compute growth rate of these cluster algebras, provide positivity of Laurent expansions of cluster variables, and prove sign-coherence of c-vectors.
We study tilting complexes over preprojective algebras of Dynkin type. We classify all tilting complexes by giving a bijection between tilting complexes and the braid group of the corresponding folded graph. In particular, we determine the derived equivalence class of the algebra. For the results, we develop the theory of silting-discrete triangulated categories and give a criterion of silting-discreteness.
By using the approach in \cite{XX2006} to Hall algebras arising in homologically finite triangulated categories, we find an `almost' associative multiplication structure for indecomposable objects in a 2-periodic triangulated category. As an application, we give a new proof of the theorem of Peng and Xiao in \cite{PX2000} which provides a way of realizing symmetrizable Kac-Moody algebras and elliptic Lie algebras via 2-periodic triangulated categories.
The cluster category is a triangulated category introduced for its combinatorial similarities with cluster algebras. We prove that a cluster algebra A of finite type can be realized as a Hall algebra, called the exceptional Hall algebra, of the cluster category. This realization provides a natural basis for A. We prove new results and formulate conjectures on `good basis' properties, positivity, denominator theorems and toric degenerations.
We investigate the conditions that are sufficient to make the Ext-algebra of an object in a (triangulated) category into a Frobenius algebra and compute the corresponding Nakayama automorphism. As an application, we prove the conjecture that hdet($μ_A$) = 1 for any noetherian Artin-Schelter regular (hence skew Calabi-Yau) algebra A.
For any cluster algebra whose underlying combinatorial data can be encoded by a bordered surface with marked points, we construct a geometric realization in terms of suitable decorated Teichmueller space of the surface. On the geometric side, this requires opening the surface at each interior marked point into an additional geodesic boundary component. On the algebraic side, it relies on the notion of a non-normalized cluster algebra and the machinery of tropical lambda lengths. Our model allows for an arbitrary choice of coefficients which translates into a choice of a family of integral lami…
We derive an algorithm for mutating quivers of 2-CY tilted algebras that have loops and 2-cycles, under certain specific conditions. Further, we give the classification of the 2-CY tilted algebras coming from standard algebraic 2-CY triangulated categories with a finite number of indecomposables. These form a class of algebras that satisfy the setup for our mutation algorithm.
By viewing $\tilde{A}$ and $\tilde{D}$ type cluster algebras as triangulated surfaces, we find all cluster variables in terms of either (i) the frieze pattern (or bipartite belt) or (ii) the periodic quantities previously found for the cluster map associated with these frieze patterns. We show that these cluster variables form friezes which are precisely the ones found in [1] by applying the cluster character to the associated cluster category.
In the acyclic case, we establish a one-to-one correspondence between the tilting objects of the cluster category and the clusters of the associated cluster algebra. This correspondence enables us to solve conjectures on cluster algebras. We prove a multiplicativity theorem, a denominator theorem, and some conjectures on properties of the mutation graph. As in the previous article, the proofs rely on the Calabi-Yau property of the cluster category.
We study the maximal rigid subcategories in $2-$CY triangulated categories and their endomorphism algebras. Cluster tilting subcategories are obviously maximal rigid; we prove that the converse is true if the $2-$CY triangulated categories admit a cluster tilting subcategory. As a generalization of a result of [KR], we prove that any maximal rigid subcategory is Gorenstein with Gorenstein dimension at most 1. Similar as cluster tilting subcategory, one can mutate maximal rigid subcategories at any indecomposable object. If two maximal rigid objects are reachable via mutations, then their endom…
For any finite-dimensional algebra $A$ over a field $k$ with finite global dimension, we investigate the root category $\cR_A$ as the triangulated hull of the 2-periodic orbit category of $A$ via the construction of B. Keller in "On triangulated orbit categories". This is motivated by Ringel-Hall Lie algebras associated to 2-periodic triangulated categories. As an application, we study the Ringel-Hall Lie algebras for a class of finite-dimensional $k$-algebras with global dimension 2, which turn out to give an alternative answer for a question of GIM Lie algebras by Slodowy in "Beyond Kac-Mood…
We show that a tilting module over the endomorphism algebra of a cluster-tilting object in a 2-Calabi-Yau triangulated category lifts to a cluster-tilting object in this 2-Calabi-Yau triangulated category. This generalizes a recent work of D. Smith for cluster categories.
Recently, Nakaoka and Palu introduced a notion of extriangulated categories. This is a unification of exact categories and triangulated categories. In this paper, we generalize the definitions of Hall algebras of exact categories and triangulated categories to extriangulated categories.
With applications in mind to the representations and cohomology of block algebras, we examine elements of the graded center of a triangulated category when the category has a Serre functor. These are natural transformations from the identity functor to powers of the shift functor that commute with the shift functor We show that such natural transformations which have support in a single shift orbit of indecomposable objects are necessarily of a kind previously constructed by Linckelmann. Under further conditions, when the support is contained in only finitely many shift orbits, sums of transfo…
The concept of Koszul differential graded algebra (Koszul DG algebra) is introduced. Koszul DG algebras exist extensively, and have nice properties similar to the classic Koszul algebras. A DG version of the Koszul duality is proved. When the Koszul DG algebra $A$ is AS-regular, the Ext-algebra $E$ of $A$ is Frobenius. In this case, similar to the classical BGG correspondence, there is an equivalence between the stable category of finitely generated left $E$-modules, and the quotient triangulated category of the full triangulated subcategory of the derived category of right DG $A$-modules cons…
Co-t-structures were introduced about ten years ago as a type of mirror image of t-structures. Like t-structures, they permit to divide an object in a triangulated category T into a "left part" and a "right part", but there are crucial differences. For instance, a bounded t-structure gives rise to an abelian subcategory of T, while a bounded co-t-structure gives rise to a so-called silting subcategory. This brief survey will emphasise three philosophical points. First, bounded t-structures are akin to the canonical example of "soft" truncation of complexes in the derived category. Secondly, bo…
For a Calabi-Yau triangulated category $\mathcal{C}$ of Calabi-Yau dimension $d$ with a $d-$cluster tilting subcategory $\mathcal{T}$, it is proved that the decomposition of $\mathcal{C}$ is determined by the special decomposition of $\mathcal{T}$, namely, $\mathcal{C}=\oplus_{i\in I}\mathcal{C}_i$, where $\mathcal{C}_i, i\in I$ are triangulated subcategories, if and only if $\mathcal{T}=\oplus_{i\in I}\mathcal{T}_i,$ where $\mathcal{T}_i, i\in I$ are subcategories with $Hom_{\mathcal{C}}(\mathcal{T}_i[t],\mathcal{T}_j)=0, \forall 1\leq t\leq d-2$ and $i\not= j.$ This induces that the Gabriel …
In a previous paper, the author compute the dimension of Hochschild cohomology groups of Jacobian algebras from (unpunctured) triangulated surfaces, and gave a geometric interpretation of those numbers in terms of the number of internal triangles, the number of vertices and the existence of certain kind of boundaries. The aim of this note is computing the cyclic (co)homology and the Hochschild homology of the same family of algebras and giving an interpretation of those dimensions through elements of the triangulated surface.
The article is devoted to homological complexes. Smashly graded modules and complexes are studied over nonassociative algebras with metagroup relations. Smashed tensor products of homological complexes are investigated. Their homotopisms and homologisms are scrutinized.
Let $\A$ be a finitary hereditary abelian category with enough projectives. We study the Hall algebra of complexes of fixed size over projectives. Explicitly, we first give a relation between Hall algebras of complexes of fixed size and cyclic complexes. Secondly, we characterize the Hall algebra of complexes of fixed size by generators and relations, and relate it to the derived Hall algebra of $\A$. Finally, we give the integration map on the Hall algebra of $2$-term complexes over projectives.
