We show that the relative Farrell-Jones assembly map from the family of finite subgroups to the family of virtually cyclic subgroups for algebraic K-theory is split injective in the setting where the coefficients are additive categories with group action. This generalizes a result of Bartels for rings as coefficients. We give an explicit description of the relative term. This enables us to show that it vanishes rationally if we take coefficients in a regular ring. Crossed product approach to equivariant localization algebras

The goal of this article is to provide a bridge between the gamma element method for the Baum--Connes conjecture (the Dirac dual-Dirac method) and the controlled algebraic approach of Roe and Yu (localization algebras). For any second countable, locally compact group G, we study the reduced crossed product algebras of the representable localization algebras for proper G-spaces. Topological K-homology for non-proper actions and assembly maps

For a countable discrete group $G$, we construct a new and concrete model for the equivariant topological $K$-homology theory of $G$, which is defined for all $G$-actions, not just for proper $G$-actions. The construction of our model combines some of the ideas from the localization algebra approach to the coarse Baum-Connes conjecture and the controlled algebra approach to the Farrell-Jones conjecture. Coassembly and the $K$-theory of finite groups

We study the $K$-theory and Swan theory of the group ring $R[G]$, when $G$ is a finite group and $R$ is any ring or ring spectrum. In this setting, the well-known assembly map for $K(R[G])$ has a companion called the coassembly map. We prove that their composite is the equivariant norm of $K(R)$. This gives a splitting of both assembly and coassembly after $K(n)$-localization, a new map between Whitehead torsion and Tate cohomology, and a partial computation of $K$-theory of representations in the category of spectra.

The equivariant index theorem in entire cyclic cohomology

Let G be a locally compact group acting smoothly and properly by isometries on a complete Riemannian manifold M, with compact quotient. There is an assembly map which associates to any G-equivariant K-homology class on M, an element of the topological K-theory of a suitable Banach completion B of the convolution algebra of continuous compactly supported functions on G.
