We study $α$-adic expansions of numbers in an extension field, that is to say, left infinite representations of numbers in the positional numeration system with the base $α$, where $α$ is an algebraic conjugate of a Pisot number $β$. Based on a result of Bertrand and Schmidt, we prove that a number belongs to $\mathbb{Q}(α)$ if and only if it has an eventually periodic $α$-expansion. Then we consider $α$-adic expansions of elements of the extension ring $\mathbb{Z}[α^{-1}]$ when $β$ satisfies the so-called Finiteness property (F). In the particular case that $β$ is a quadratic Pisot unit, we inspect the unicity and/or multiplicity of $α$-adic expansions of elements of $\mathbb{Z}[α^{-1}]$. We also provide algorithms to generate $α$-adic expansions of rational numbers.
We investigate a parametric extension of the classical s-dimensional Halton sequence, where the bases are special Pisot numbers. In a one- dimensional setting the properties of such sequences have already been in- vestigated by several authors [5, 8, 23, 28]. We use methods from ergodic theory to in order to investigate the distribution behavior of multidimen- sional versions of such sequences. As a consequence it is shown that the Kakutani-Fibonacci transformation is uniquely ergodic.
We investigate the complex spectra \[ X^{\mathcal A}(β)=\left\{\sum_{j=0}^na_jβ^j : n\in{\mathbb N},\ a_j\in{\mathcal A}\right\} \] where $β$ is a quadratic or cubic Pisot-cyclotomic number and the alphabet $\mathcal A$ is given by $0$ along with a finite collection of roots of unity. Such spectra are discrete aperiodic structures with crystallographically forbidden symmetries. We discuss in general terms under which conditions they possess the Delone property required for point sets modeling quasicrystals. We study the corresponding Voronoi tilings and we relate these structures to quasilatti…
Motivated by multiplication algorithms based on redundant number representations, we study representations of an integer $n$ as a sum $n=\sum_k ε_k U_k$, where the digits $ε_k$ are taken from a finite alphabet $Σ$ and $(U_k)_k$ is a linear recurrent sequence of Pisot type with $U_0=1$. The most prominent example of a base sequence $(U_k)_k$ is the sequence of Fibonacci numbers. We prove that the representations of minimal weight $\sum_k|ε_k|$ are recognised by a finite automaton and obtain an asymptotic formula for the average number of representations of minimal weight. Furthermore, we relate…

The fundamental aim of this paper is to describe q-Analogue of p-adic log gamma functions with weight alpha and beta. Moreover, we give relationship between p-adic q-log gamma funtions with weight (α, β) and q-extension of Genocchi numbers with weight alpha and beta and modified q Euler numbers with weight α
Spectra of suitably chosen Pisot-Vijayaraghavan numbers represent non-trivial examples of self-similar Delone point sets of finite local complexity, indispensable in quasicrystal modeling. For the case of quadratic Pisot units we characterize, dependingly on digits in the corresponding numeration systems, the spectra which are bounded distance to an average lattice. Our method stems in interpretation of the spectra in the frame of the cut-and-project method. Such structures are coded by an infinite word over a finite alphabet which enables us to exploit combinatorial notions such as balancedne…
In the present paper, our objective is to treat a p-adic continuous function for an odd prime to inside a p-adic q-analogue of the higher order Dedekind-type sums with weight in connection with modified q-Genocchi polynomials with weight alpha by using p-adic invariant q-integral on Zp.
The rapid development of q-calculus has led to the discovery of new generalizations of Bernstein polynomials and Genocchi polynomials involving q-integers. The present paper deals with weighted q-Bernstein polynomials and q-Genocchi numbers with weight alpha and beta. We apply the method of generating function and p-adic q-integral representation on Zp, which are exploited to derive further classes of Bernstein polynomials and q-Genocchi numbers and polynomials. To be more precise we summarize our results as follows, we obtain some combinatorial relations between q-Genocchi numbers and polynom…
The q-calculus theory is a novel theory that is based on finite difference re-scaling. The rapid development of q-calculus has led to the discovery of new generalizations of q-Euler polynomials involving q-integers. The present paper deals with the modified Dirichlet's type of twisted q-Euler polynomials with weight alpha. We apply the method of generating function and p-adic q-integral representation on Zp, which are exploited to derive further classes of q-Euler numbers and polynomials. To be more precise we summarize our results as follows, we obtain some combinatorial relations between mod…
We study expansions in non-integer negative base -β introduced by Ito and Sadahiro. Using countable automata associated with (-β)-expansions, we characterize the case where the (-β)-shift is a system of finite type. We prove that, if β is a Pisot number, then the (-β)-shift is a sofic system. In that case, addition (and more generally normalization on any alphabet) is realizable by a finite transducer. We then give an on-line algorithm for the conversion from positive base β to negative base -β. When β is a Pisot number, the conversion can be realized by a finite on-line transducer.
We study parallel algorithms for addition of numbers having finite representation in a positional numeration system defined by a base $β$ in $\mathbb{C}$ and a finite digit set $\mathcal{A}$ of contiguous integers containing $0$. For a fixed base $β$, we focus on the question of the size of the alphabet allowing to perform addition in constant time independently of the length of representation of the summands. We produce lower bounds on the size of such alphabet $\mathcal{A}$. For several types of well studied bases (negative integer, complex numbers $ -1 + \imath$, $2 \imath$, and $\imath \sq…
We give some new identities for (h; q)-Genocchi numbers and polynomials by means of the fermionic p-adic q-integral on Zp and the weighted q-Bernstein polynomials.
For $β> 1$ a real algebraic integer ({\it the base}), the finite alphabets $\mathcal{A} \subset \mathbb{Z}$ which realize the identity $\mathbb{Q}(β) = {\rm Per}_{\mathcal{A}}(β)$, where ${\rm Per}_{\mathcal{A}}(β)$ is the set of complex numbers which are $(β, \mathcal{A})$-eventually periodic representations, are investigated. Comparing with the greedy algorithm, minimal and maximal alphabets are defined. The maximal alphabets are shown to be correlated to the asymptotics of the Pierce numbers of the base $β$ and Lehmer's problem. The notion of rewriting trail is introduced to construct inter…
In the present paper, we investigate special generalized q-Euler numbers and polynomials. Some earlier results of T. Kim in terms of q-Euler polynomials with weight alpha can be deduced. For presentation of our formulas we apply the method of generating function and p-adic q-integral representation on Zp. We summarize our results as follows. In section 2, by using combinatorial techniques we present two formulas for q-Euler numbers with weight alpha. In section 3, we derive distribution formula (Multiplication Theorem) for Dirichlet type of q-Euler numbers and polynomials with weight . Moreove…
We provide lower bounds for p-adic valuations of multisums of factorial ratios which satisfy an Apéry-like recurrence relation: these include Apéry, Domb, Franel numbers, the numbers of abelian squares over a finite alphabet, and constant terms of powers of certain Laurent polynomials. In particular, we prove Beukers' conjectures on the p-adic valuation of Apéry numbers. Furthermore, we give an effective criterion for a sequence of factorial ratios to satisfy the p-Lucas property for almost all primes p.
The first aim of this article is to give information about the algebraic properties of alternate bases $\boldsymbolβ=(β_0,\dots,β_{p-1})$ determining sofic systems. We show that a necessary condition is that the product $δ=\prod_{i=0}^{p-1}β_i$ is an algebraic integer and all of the bases $β_0,\ldots,β_{p-1}$ belong to the algebraic field ${\mathbb Q}(δ)$. On the other hand, we also give a sufficient condition: if $δ$ is a Pisot number and $β_0,\ldots,β_{p-1}\in {\mathbb Q}(δ)$, then the system associated with the alternate base $\boldsymbolβ=(β_0,\dots,β_{p-1})$ is sofic. The second aim of th…
Let f be a polynomial of degree at least 2 with coefficients in a number field K, let x_0 be a sufficiently general element of K, and let alpha be a root of f. We give precise conditions under which Newton iteration, started at the point x_0, converges v-adically to the root alpha for infinitely many places v of K. As a corollary we show that if f is irreducible over K of degree at least 3, then Newton iteration converges v-adically to any given root of f for infinitely many places v. We also conjecture that the set of places for which Newton iteration diverges has full density and give some h…
