Maximally Frobenius-destabilized vector bundles over smooth algebraic curves

Vector bundles in positive characteristics have a tendency to be destabilized after pulling back by the Frobenius morphism. In this paper, we closely examine vector bundles over curves that are, in an appropriate sense, maximally destabilized by the Frobenius morphism. Then we prove that such bundles of rank 2 exist over any curve in characteristic 3, and are unique up to twisting by a line bundle. We also give an application of such bundles to the study of ample vector bundles, which is valid in all characteristics.

Effective bounds on singular surfaces in positive characteristic

Using the theory of Frobenius singularities, we show that 13mK_X + 45mA is very ample for an ample Cartier divisor A on a Kawamata log terminal surface X with Gorenstein index m, defined over an algebraically closed field of characteristic p>5.

Ample filters of invertible sheaves

Let $X$ be a scheme, proper over a commutative noetherian ring $A$. We introduce the concept of an ample filter of invertible sheaves on $X$ and generalize the most important equivalent criteria for ampleness of an invertible sheaf. We also prove the Theorem of the Base for $X$ and generalize Serre's Vanishing Theorem. We then generalize results for twisted homogeneous coordinate rings which were previously known only when $X$ was projective over an algebraically closed field. Frobenius amplitude and strong vanishing theorems for vector bundles

The primary goal of this paper is to systematically exploit the method of Deligne-Illusie to obtain Kodaira type vanishing theorems for vector bundles and more generally coherent sheaves on algebraic varieties. The key idea is to introduce a number which provides a cohomological measure of the positivity of a coherent sheaf called the Frobenius or F-amplitude. Frobenius-Seshadri constants and characterizations of projective space

We introduce higher-order variants of the Frobenius-Seshadri constant due to Mustaţă and Schwede, which are defined for ample line bundles in positive characteristic. These constants are used to show that Demailly's criterion for separation of higher-order jets by adjoint bundles also holds in positive characteristic. As an application, we give a characterization of projective space using Seshadri constants in positive characteristic, which was proved in characteristic zero by Bauer and Szemberg. We also discuss connections with other characterizations of projective space.

Frobenius splitting and geometry of $G$-Schubert varieties

Let $X$ be an equivariant embedding of a connected reductive group $G$ over an algebraically closed field $k$ of positive characteristic. Let $B$ denote a Borel subgroup of $G$. Partial Regularity and Amplitude

This is a sequel to the paper "Frobenius amplitude and strong vanishing theorems for vector bundles" (math.AG/0202129). We introduce a more elementary variant of the notion of F-amplitude from the earlier paper which we call amplitude. This provides another measure of positivity of a vector bundle which is related to a number of preexisting positivity notions such as k-ampleness or q-convexity. We use this to refine the estimates of F-amplitude from the first paper, and to deduce some further vanishing theorems as a consequence.
