In this paper we construct a Floer-homology invariant for a natural and wide class of sutured manifolds that we call balanced. This generalizes the Heegaard Floer hat theory of closed three-manifolds and links. Our invariant is unchanged under product decompositions and is zero for nontaut sutured manifolds. As an application, an invariant of Seifert surfaces is given and is computed in a few interesting cases.

We show that the bordered-sutured Floer invariant of the complement of a tangle in an arbitrary 3-manifold $Y$, with minimal conditions on the bordered-sutured structure, satisfies an unoriented skein exact triangle. This generalizes a theorem by Manolescu for links in $S^3$. We discuss generalizations of Ozsvath-Szabo's spectral sequence relating Khovanov homology and Heegaard Floer homology, focusing attention on an explicit relationship between natural Z (resp., 1/2 Z) gradings appearing in the two theories. These two gradings have simple representation-theoretic (resp., geometric) interpretations, which we also review.
Recently, Ozsváth and Szabó introduced some algebraic constructions computing knot Floer homology in the spirit of bordered Floer homology, including a family of algebras B(n) and, for a generator of the braid group on n strands, a certain type of bimodule over B(n). We define analogous bimodules for singular crossings. We extend Perutz's Lagrangian matching invariants to 3-manifolds which are not necessarily fibred using the technology of holomorphic quilts. We construct maps on hat Heegaard Floer homology for cobordisms decorated with graphs. The graph TQFT allows for cobordisms with disconnected ends. Our construction uses Juhász's sutured Floer TQFT. We compute the maps for several elementary graph cobordisms. As an application, we compute the action of the fundamental group on hat Heegaard Floer homology.

We show a connection between a surgery exact sequence in knot Floer homology and the sequence derived in [18]. As a consequence of this relationship we see that the exact sequence in [18] also works with coherent orientations and admits refinements with respect to spinc-structures. As an application of this discussion, we prove that the ranks of the image and kernel of certain cobordism maps between knot Floer homologies can be computed combinatorially by relating them to a count of certain moduli spaces of holomorphic disks.

In this paper, we discuss a rigidity property for holomorphic disks in Teichmüller space. In fact, we give a refinement of Tanigawa's rigidity theorem. We will also treat the rigidity property of holomorphic disks for complex manifolds. We observe the rigidity property is valid for bounded strictly pseudoconvex domains with $C^{2}$-boundaries, but the rigidity property does not hold for product manifolds.
