Rank-two graphs whose C^*-algebras are direct limits of circle algebras

We describe a class of rank-2 graphs whose C^*-algebras are AT algebras. For a subclass which we call rank-2 Bratteli diagrams, we compute the K-theory of the C*-algebra. We identify rank-2 Bratteli diagrams whose C*-algebras are simple and have real-rank zero, and characterise the K-invariants achieved by such algebras. We give examples of rank-2 Bratteli diagrams whose C*-algebras contain as full corners the irrational rotation algebras and the Bunce-Deddens algebras.

Minimal dynamical systems on the product of the Cantor set and the circle

We prove that a crossed product algebra arising from a minimal dynamical system on the product of the Cantor set and the circle has real rank zero if and only if that system is rigid. In the case that cocycles take values in the rotation group, it is also shown that rigidity implies tracial rank zero, and in particular, the crossed product algebra is isomorphic to a unital simple AT-algebra of real rank zero. Classification of real rank zero, purely infinite C*-algebras with at most four primitive ideals

Counterexamples to classification of purely infinite, nuclear, separable C*-algebras (in the ideal-related bootstrap class) and with primitive ideal space X using ideal-related K-theory occur for infinitely many finite primitive ideal spaces X, the smallest of which having four points. Ideal-related K-theory is known to be strongly complete for such C*-algebras if they have real rank zero and X has at most four points for all but two exceptional spaces: the pseudo-circle and the diamond space. On the K-theory of twisted higher-rank-graph C*-algebras

We investigate the K-theory of twisted higher-rank-graph algebras by adapting parts of Elliott's computation of the K-theory of the rotation algebras. We show that each 2-cocycle on a higher-rank graph taking values in an abelian group determines a continuous bundle of twisted higher-rank graph algebras over the dual group. We use this to show that for a circle-valued 2-cocycle on a higher-rank graph obtained by exponentiating a real-valued cocycle, the K-theory of the twisted higher-rank graph algebra coincides with that of the untwisted one.

Circle actions on UHF-absorbing $C^*$-algebras

We study circle actions with the Rokhlin property, in relation to their restrictions to finite subgroups. We construct examples showing the following: the restriction of a circle action with the Rokhlin property (even on a real rank zero $C^*$-algebra), need not have the Rokhlin property; and even if every restriction of a given circle action has the Rokhlin property, the circle action itself need not have it.
