Let X be a singular affine normal variety with coordinate ring R and assume that there is an R-order admitting a stability structure such that the scheme of relevant semistable representations is smooth, then we construct a partial desingularization of X with classifiable remaining singularities. In dimension 3 this explains the omnipresence of conifold singularities in partial desingularizations of quotient singularities. In higher dimensions we have a small list of singularity types generalizing the role of the conifold singularity.
In this paper we study endomorphism rings of finite global dimension over not necessarily normal commutative rings. These objects have recently attracted attention as noncommutative (crepant) resolutions, or NC(C)Rs, of singularities. We propose a notion of a NCCR over any commutative ring that appears weaker but subsumes all previous notions. Our results yield strong necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of such objects in many cases of interest. We also give new examples of NCRs of curve singularities, regular local rings and normal crossing singularities. Moreover, we introd…
Let $R$ be a noetherian normal domain. We investigate when $R$ admits a faithful module whose endomorphism ring has finite global dimension. This can be viewed as a non-commutative desingularization of $\Spec(R)$. We show that the existence of such modules forces stringent conditions on the Grothendieck group of finitely generated modules over $R$. In some cases those conditions are enough to imply that $\Spec(R)$ has only rational singularities.
In this short paper we study for the skew PBW (Poincaré-Birkhoff-Witt) extensions some homological properties arising in non-commutative algebraic geometry, namely, Auslander-Gorenstein regularity, Cohen-Macaulayness and strongly noetherianity. Skew PBW extensions include a considerable number of non-commutative rings of polynomial type such that classical PBW extensions, quantum polynomial rings, multiplicative analogue of the Weyl algebra, some Sklyanin algebras, operator algebras, diffusion algebras, quadratic algebras in 3 variables, among many others. For some key examples we present the …
This paper continues a research program on constructive investigations of non-commutative Ore localizations, initiated in our previous papers, and particularly touches the constructiveness of arithmetics within such localizations. Earlier we have introduced monoidal, geometric and rational types of localizations of domains as objects of our studies. Here we extend this classification to rings with zero divisors and consider Ore sets of the mentioned types which are commutative enough: such a set either belongs to a commutative algebra or it is central or its elements commute pairwise. By using…
Many rings and algebras arising in quantum mechanics, algebraic analysis, and non-commutative algebraic geometry can be interpreted as skew PBW (Poincaré-Birkhoff-Witt) extensions. In the present paper we study two aspects of these non-commutative rings: its finitely generated projective modules from a matrix-constructive approach, and the construction of the Gröbner theory for its left ideals and modules. These two topics could be interesting in future eventual applications of skew $PBW$ extensions in functional linear systems and in non-commutative algebraic geometry.
We consider the Casimir Invariants related to some a special kind of Lie-algebra extensions, called universal extensions. We show that these invariants can be studied using the equivalence between the universal extensions and the commutative algebras and consider in detail the so called coextension structures, arising in the calculation of the Casimir functions.
In formulating a generalized framework to study certain noncommutative algebras naturally arising in representation theory, K. A. Brown asked if every finitely generated Hopf algebra satisfying a polynomial identity was finite over a normal commutative Hopf subalgebra. In this note we show that Radford's biproduct, applied to the enveloping algebra of the Lie superalgebra pl(1,1), provides a noetherian prime counterexample.
Galois closures of commutative rank n ring extensions were introduced by Bhargava and the second author. In this paper, we generalize the construction to the case of non-commutative rings. We show that non-commutative Galois closures commute with base change and satisfy a product formula. As an application, we give a uniform construction of many of the representations arising in arithmetic invariant theory, including many Vinberg representations.
In this paper we presented some connections between BCK-commutative bounded algebras, MV-algebras, Wajsberg algebras and binary block codes. Using connections between these three algebras, we will associate to each of them a binary block code and, in some circumstances, we will prove that the converse is also true.
In a series of papers \cite{BRV1}, \cite{BRV2}, \cite{BRV3} we introduced full quivers and pseudo-quivers of representations of algebras, and used them as tools in describing PI-varieties of algebras. In this paper we apply them to obtain a complete proof of Belov's solution of Specht's problem for affine algebras over an arbitrary Noetherian ring. The inductive step relies on a theorem that enables one to find a "$\bar q$-characteristic coefficient-absorbing polynomial in each T-ideal $Γ$," i.e., a non-identity of the representable algebra $A$ arising from $Γ$, whose ideal of evaluations in $…
The Rota-Baxter algebra and the shuffle product are both algebraic structures arising from integral operators and integral equations. Free commutative Rota-Baxter algebras provide an algebraic framework for integral equations with the simple Riemann integral operator. The Zinbiel algebras form a category in which the shuffle product algebra is the free object. Motivated by algebraic structures underlying integral equations involving multiple integral operators and kernels, we study commutative matching Rota-Baxter algebras and construct the free objects making use of the shuffle product with m…
In this paper we discuss some open problems of non-commutative algebra and non-commutative algebraic geometry from the approach of skew $PBW$ extensions and semi-graded rings. More exactly, we will analyze the isomorphism arising in the investigation of the Gelfand-Kirillov conjecture about the commutation between the center and the total ring of fractions of an Ore domain. The Serre's conjecture will be discussed for a particular class of skew $PBW$ extensions. The questions about the noetherianity and the Zariski cancellation property of Artin-Schelter regular algebras will be reformulated f…
We introduce some basic concepts for Jacobi-Jordan algebras such as: representations, crossed products or Frobenius/metabelian/co-flag objects. A new family of solutions for the quantum Yang-Baxter equation is constructed arising from any $3$-step nilpotent Jacobi-Jordan algebra. Crossed products are used to construct the classifying object for the extension problem in its global form. For a given Jacobi-Jordan algebra $A$ and a given vector space $V$ of dimension $\mathfrak{c}$, a global non-abelian cohomological object ${\mathbb G} {\mathbb H}^{2} \, (A, \, V)$ is constructed: it classifies,…
We investigate a notion of Azumaya algebras in the context of structured ring spectra and give a definition of Brauer groups. We investigate their Galois theoretic properties, and discuss examples of Azumaya algebras arising from Galois descent and cyclic algebras. We construct examples that are related to topological Hochschild cohomology of group ring spectra and we present a K(n)-local variant of the notion of Brauer groups.
We present a beautiful interplay between combinatorial topology and homological algebra for a class of monoids that arise naturally in algebraic combinatorics. We explore several applications of this interplay. For instance, we provide a new interpretation of the Leray number of a clique complex in terms of non-commutative algebra.
We give a construction that takes a simple linear algebraic group $G$ over a field and produces a commutative, unital, and simple non-associative algebra $A$ over that field. Two attractions of this construction are that (1) when $G$ has type $E_8$, the algebra $A$ is obtained by adjoining a unit to the 3875-dimensional representation and (2) it is effective, in that the product operation on $A$ can be implemented on a computer. A description of the algebra in the $E_8$ case has been requested for some time, and interest has been increased by the recent proof that $E_8$ is the full automorphis…
We identify the quantum isometry groups of spectral triples built on the symmetric groups with length functions arising from the nearest-neighbor transpositions as generators. It turns out that they are isomorphic to certain "doubling" of the group algebras of the respective symmetric groups. We discuss the doubling procedure in the context of regular multiplier Hopf algebras. In the last section we study the dependence of the isometry group of S_n on the choice of generators in the case n=3. We show that two different choices of generators lead to non-isomorphic quantum isometry groups which …
This is a study on pattern Hopf algebras in combinatorial structures. We introduce the notion of combinatorial presheaf, by adapting the algebraic framework of species to the study of substructures in combinatorics. Afterwards, we consider functions that count the number of patterns of objects and endow the linear span of these functions with a product and a coproduct. In this way, any well behaved family of combinatorial objects that admits a notion of substructure generates a Hopf algebra, and this association is functorial. For example, the Hopf algebra on permutations studied by Vargas in …
