More forcing notions imply diamond

We prove that the Sacks forcing collapses the continuum onto the dominating number d, answering the question of Carlson and Laver. Next we prove that if a proper forcing of the size at most continuum collapses omega_2 then it forces diamond_{omega_1} .

Bounding by canonical functions, with CH

We show that that a certain class of semi-proper iterations does not add omega-sequences. As a result, starting from suitable large cardinals one can obtain a model in which the Continuum Hypothesis holds and every function from omega_1 to omega_1 is bounded by a canonical function on a club, and so omega_1 is the omega_2-nd canonical function.

A set X which is a subset of the Cantor set has property (s) (Marczewski (Spzilrajn)) iff for every perfect set P there exists a perfect set Q contained in P such that Q is a subset of X or Q is disjoint from X.
