Using the degeneration formula for Donaldson-Thomas invariants, we proved a formula for the change of Donaldson-Thomas invariants of local surfaces under blowing up along points.
We formulate conjectural blowup formulas for Segre and Verlinde numbers on moduli spaces of sheaves on projective surfaces $S$ with $p_g(S)>0$ and $b_1(S)=0$. As applications we give a give a conjectural formula for the Donaldson invariants of $S$ in arbitrary rank, as well as for the $K$-theoretic Donaldson invariants, and some Donaldson invariants with fundamental matters.
In this paper we present a formula which relates the Donaldson invariants of a 4-manifold X with the Donaldson invariants of its blowup X#-CP(2). This blow-up formula is independent of X and involves sigma-functions associated to a naturally arising elliptic function. This, the final version, corrects some earlier misconceptions regarding signs.
We study the Donaldson-Thomas type invariants for the Calabi-Yau threefold Deligne-Mumford stacks under flops. A crepant birational morphism between two smooth Calabi-Yau threefold Deligne-Mumford stacks is called an orbifold flop if the flopping locus is the quotient of weighted projective lines by a cyclic group action. We prove that the Donaldson-Thomas invariants are preserved under orbifold flops.
We develop a virtual cycle approach towards generalized Donaldson-Thomas theory of Calabi-Yau threefolds. Let $\mathcal{M}$ be the moduli stack of Gieseker semistable sheaves of fixed topological type on a Calabi-Yau threefold $W$. We construct an associated Deligne-Mumford stack $\widetilde{\mathcal{M}}$ with an induced semi-perfect obstruction theory of virtual dimension zero and define the generalized Donaldson-Thomas invariant of $W$ via Kirwan blowups to be the degree of the virtual cycle $[\widetilde{\mathcal{M}}]^{\mathrm{vir}}$. We show that it is invariant under deformations of the co…
We investigate blowup formulae in Donaldson-Witten theory with gauge group SU(N), using the theory of hyperelliptic Kleinian functions. We find that the blowup function is a hyperelliptic sigma-function and we describe an explicit procedure to expand it in terms of the Casimirs of the gauge group up to arbitrary order. As a corollary, we obtain a new expression for the contact terms and we show that the correlation functions involving the exceptional divisor are governed by the KdV hierarchy. We also show that, for manifolds of simple type, the blowup function becomes a tau-function for a mult…
Let $X$ and $X'$ be nonsingular projective $3$-folds related by a flop of a disjoint union of $(-2)$-curves. We prove a flop formula relating the Donaldson-Thomas invariants of $X$ to those of $X'$, which implies some simple relations among BPS state counts. As an application, we show that if $X$ satisfies the GW/DT correspondence for primary insertions and descendants of the point class, then so does $X'$. We also propose a conjectural flop formula for general flops.
We prove a comparison formula for the Donaldson-Thomas curve-counting invariants of two smooth and projective Calabi-Yau threefolds related by a flop. By results of Bridgeland any two such varieties are derived equivalent. Furthermore there exist pairs of categories of perverse coherent sheaves on both sides which are swapped by this equivalence. Using the theory developed by Joyce we construct the motivic Hall algebras of these categories. These algebras provide a bridge relating the invariants on both sides of the flop.
We develop theoretical aspects of refined Donaldson-Thomas theory for threefold flops, and use these to determine all DT invariants for a doubly infinite family of length 2 flopping contractions. Our results show that a refined version of the strong-rationality conjecture of Pandharipande-Thomas holds in this setting, and also that refined DT invariants do not classify flops. Our main innovation is the application of tilting theory to better understand the stability conditions and cyclic A-infinity-deformation theory of these spaces. Where possible we work in the motivic setting, but we also c…
The goal of the present paper is to show the transformation formula of Donaldson-Thomas invariants on smooth projective Calabi-Yau 3-folds under birational transformations via categorical method. We also generalize the non-commutative Donaldson-Thomas invariants, introduced by B. Szendr{\H o}i in a local $(-1, -1)$-curve example, to an arbitrary flopping contraction from a smooth projective Calabi-Yau 3-fold. The transformation formula between such invariants and the usual Donaldson-Thomas invariants are also established. These formulas will be deduced from the wall-crossing formula in the spa…
In this paper, we prove a generalization of Orlov's projectivization formula for the derived category $D^b_{\rm coh} (\mathbb{P}(\mathscr{E}))$, where $\mathscr{E}$ does not need to be a vector bundle; Instead, $\mathscr{E}$ is a coherent sheaf which locally admits two-step resolutions. As a special case, this also gives Orlov's generalized universal hyperplane section formula. As applications, (i) we obtain a blowup formula for blowup along codimension two Cohen-Macaulay subschemes, (ii) we obtain new "flop-flop=twist" results for a large class of flops obtained by crepant resolutions of dege…
We study the change of moduli spaces of Gieseker-semistable torsion free rank-$2$ sheaves on algebraic surfaces as we vary the polarizations. When the surfaces are rational with an effective anti-canonical divisor, the moduli spaces are linked by a series of flips (blowups and blowdowns). Using these results, we compute the transition formulas for Donaldson polynomial invariants of rational surfaces. Part of the work is also obtained independently by Matsuki-Wentworth and Ellingsrud-G{\" o}ttsche.
In this paper we calculate the motivic Donaldson-Thomas invariants for (-2)-curves arising from 3-fold flopping contractions in the minimal model programme. We translate this geometric situation into the machinery developed by Kontsevich and Soibelman, and using the results and framework developed previously by the authors we describe the monodromy on these invariants. In particular, in contrast to all existing known Donaldson-Thomas invariants for small resolutions of Gorenstein singularities these monodromy actions are nontrivial.
We study the Donaldson invariants of simply connected $4$-manifolds with $b_+=1$, and in particular the change of the invariants under wall-crossing. We assume the conjecture of Kotschick and Morgan about the shape of the wall-crossing terms (which Oszvath and Morgan are now able to prove), and are determine a generating function for the wall-crossing terms in terms of modular forms. As an application we determine all the Donaldson invariants of the projective plane in terms of modular forms. The main tool are the blowup formulas, which are used to obtain recursive relations.
We show the existence of semiorthogonal decompositions of Donaldson-Thomas categories for $(-1)$-shifted cotangent derived stacks associated with $Θ$-stratifications on them. Our main result gives an analogue of window theorem for categorical DT theory, which has applications to d-critical analogue of D/K equivalence conjecture, i.e. existence of fully-faithful functors (equivalences) under d-critical flips (flops). As an example of applications, we show the existence of fully-faithful functors of DT categories for Pandharipande-Thomas stable pair moduli spaces under wall-crossing at super-rig…
We apply virtual localization to the problem of finding blowup formulae for virtual sheaf-theoretic invariants on a smooth projective surface. This leads to a general procedure that can be used to express virtual enumerative invariants on the blowup in terms of those on the original surface. We use an enhanced master space construction over the moduli spaces of $m$-stable sheaves introduced by Nakajima and Yoshioka. Our work extends their analogous results for the equivariant moduli spaces of framed sheaves on $\mathbb{P}^2$. In contrast to their work, we make no use of GIT methods and work wi…
We study the Donaldson invariants of rational surfaces and their dependence on the chambers in the ample cone. We build on a previous joint paper in which we have expressed the change of the Donaldson invariants on an algebraic surface $S$ under crossing a so-called good wall in terms of certain intersection numbers on Hilbert schemes of points on $S$. In the current paper we assume that $S$ is rational. Thish enables us to apply the Bott residue theorem to evaluate these intersection numbers with the help of a computer. Combining this with the blowup formulas we obtain an algorithm for comput…
We prove a formula for Chow groups of $Quot$-schemes which resolve degeneracy loci of a map between vector bundles, under expected dimension conditions. This result provides a unified way to understand known formulae for various geometric situations such as blowups, Cayley's trick, projectivizations, Grassmannian bundles, flops from Springer type resolutions, as well as provide new phenomena such as formulae for Grassmannain type flips/flops and virtual flips. We also give applications to blowups of determinantal ideals, moduli spaces of linear series on curves, and Hilbert schemes of points o…
We prove the transformation formula of Donaldson-Thomas (DT) invariants counting two dimensional torsion sheaves on Calabi-Yau 3-folds under flops. The error term is described by the Dedekind eta function and the Jacobi theta function, and our result gives evidence of a 3-fold version of Vafa-Witten's S-duality conjecture. As an application, we prove a blow-up formula of DT type invariants on the total spaces of canonical line bundles on smooth projective surfaces. It gives an analogue of the similar blow-up formula in the original S-duality conjecture by Yoshioka, Li-Qin and Göttsche.
We exhaustively analyze the toric symmetries of CP^3 and its toric blowups. Our motivation is to study toric symmetry as a computational technique in Gromov-Witten theory and Donaldson-Thomas theory. We identify all nontrivial toric symmetries. The induced nontrivial isomorphisms lift and provide new symmetries at the level of Gromov-Witten Theory and Donaldson-Thomas Theory. The polytopes of the toric varieties in question include the permutohedron, the cyclohedron, the associahedron, and in fact all graph associahedra, among others.
Given a quiver algebra A with relations defined by a superpotential, this paper defines a set of invariants of A counting framed cyclic A-modules, analogous to rank-1 Donaldson-Thomas invariants of Calabi-Yau threefolds. For the special case when A is the non-commutative crepant resolution of the threefold ordinary double point, it is proved using torus localization that the invariants count certain pyramid-shaped partition-like configurations, or equivalently infinite dimer configurations in the square dimer model with a fixed boundary condition. The resulting partition function admits an inf…

A banana manifold is a compact Calabi-Yau threefold, fibered by Abelian surfaces, whose singular fibers have a singular locus given by a "banana configuration of curves". A basic example is given by $X_{ban}$, the blowup along the diagonal of the fibered product of a generic rational elliptic surface $S\to \mathbb{P}^{1}$ with itself. In this paper we give a closed formula for the Donaldson-Thomas partition function of the banana manifold $X_{ban }$ restricted to the 3-dimensional lattice $Γ$ of curve classes supported in the fibers of $X_{ban}\to \mathbb{P}^{1}$. It is given by \[ Z_Γ(X_{ban}…
