We present a nonlinear realization of the 5-graded Lie algebra associated to a Kantor triple system. Any simple Lie algebra can be realized in this way, starting from an arbitrary 5-grading. In particular, we get a unified realization of the exceptional Lie algebras f_4, e_6, e_7, e_8, in which they are respectively related to the division algebras R, C, H, O.

Left unital Kantor triple systems and structurable algebras

Left unital Kantor triple systems will be shown to correspond to structurable algebras endowed with an involutive automorphism. A related result is proved for (-1,-1) Freudenthal-Kantor triple systems. Some consequences for the associated 5-graded Lie algebras and superalgebras are deduced too. In particular, left unital (-1,-1) Freudenthal-Kantor triple systems are shown to be intimately related to Lie superalgebras graded over the root system of type B(0,1).

Special Freudenthal-Kantor triple systems and Lie algebras with dicyclic symmetry

Lie algebras endowed with an action by automorphisms of the dicyclic group of degree 3 are considered. The close connections of these algebras with Lie algebras graded over the nonreduced root system BC1, with J-ternary algebras and with Freudenthal-Kantor triple systems are explored.

(-1,-1)-Balanced Freudenthal Kantor triple systems and noncommutative Jordan algebras

A noncommutative Jordan algebra of a specific type is attached to any (-1,-1)-balanced Freudenthal Kantor triple system, in such a way that the triple product in this system is determined by the binary product in the algebra. Over fields of characteristic zero, the simple noncommutative Jordan algebras of this type are classified.

A generalization of the Kantor-Koecher-Tits construction

The Kantor-Koecher-Tits construction associates a Lie algebra to any Jordan algebra. We generalize this construction to include also extensions of the associated Lie algebra. In particular, the conformal realization of so(p+1,q+1) generalizes to so(p+n,q+n), for arbitrary n, with a linearly realized subalgebra so(p,q). We also show that the construction applied to 3x3 matrices over the division algebras R, C, H, O gives rise to the exceptional Lie algebras f4, e6, e7, e8, as well as to their affine, hyperbolic and further extensions.

Fine gradings on Kantor systems of Hurwitz type

We give a classification up to equivalence of the fine group gradings by abelian groups on the Kantor pairs and triple systems associated to Hurwitz algebras (i.e., unital composition algebras), under the assumption that the base field is algebraically closed of characteristic different from 2. The universal groups and associated Weyl groups are computed. We also determine, in the case of Kantor pairs, the induced (fine) gradings on the associated Lie algebras given by the Kantor construction.

Dynkin Diagrams and Short Peirce Gradings of Kantor Pairs

In a recent article with Oleg Smirnov, we defined short Peirce (SP) graded Kantor pairs. For any such pair P, we defined a family, parameterized by the Weyl group of type BC_2, consisting of SP-graded Kantor pairs called Weyl images of P. In this article, we classify finite dimensional simple SP-graded Kantor pairs over an algebraically closed field of characteristic 0 in terms of marked Dynkin diagrams, and we show how to compute Weyl images using these diagrams. Generalized conformal realizations of Kac-Moody algebras

We present a construction which associates an infinite sequence of Kac-Moody algebras, labeled by a positive integer n, to one single Jordan algebra. Algebras with ternary law of composition and their realization by cubic matrices

We study partially and totally associative ternary algebras of first and second kind. Assuming the vector space underlying a ternary algebra to be a topological space and a triple product to be continuous mapping we consider the trivial vector bundle over a ternary algebra and show that a triple product induces a structure of binary algebra in each fiber of this vector bundle. Lie tori of type B_2 and graded-simple Jordan structures covered by a triangle

We classify two classes of B_2-graded Lie algebras which have a second compatible grading by an abelian group A: (a) graded-simple Lie algebras for A torsion-free and (b) division-A-graded Lie algebras. Our results describe the centreless cores of a class of affine reflection Lie algebras, hence apply in particular to the centreless cores of extended affine Lie algebras, the so-called Lie tori, for which we recover results of Allison-Gao and Faulkner. Semi-infinite cohomology and Hecke algebras

This paper provides a homological algebraic foundation for generalizations of classical Hecke algebras introduced in math.QA/9805134. These new Hecke algebras are associated to triples of the form (A,B,e), where A is an associative algebra containing subalgebra B with character e.
