Combinatorial Interpretations of the q-Faulhaber and q-Salie Coefficients

Recently, Guo and Zeng discovered two families of polynomials featuring in a q-analogue of Faulhaber's formula for the sums of powers and a q-analogue of Gessel-Viennot's formula involving Salie's coefficients for the alternating sums of powers. In this paper, we show that these are polynomials with symmetric, nonnegative integral coefficients by refining Gessel-Viennot's combinatorial interpretations.

Disposition Polynomials and Plane Trees

We define the disposition polynomial $R_{m}(x_1, x_2, ..., x_n)$ as $\prod_{k=0}^{m-1}(x_1+x_2+...+x_n+k)$. When $m=n-1$, this polynomial becomes the generating function of plane trees with respect to certain statistics as given by Guo and Zeng. When $x_i=1$ for $1\leq i\leq n$, $R_{m}(x_1, x_2, ..., x_n)$ reduces to the rising factorial $n(n+1)... (n+m-1)$. Guo and Zeng asked the question of finding a combinatorial proof of the formula for the generating function of plane trees with respect to the number of younger children and the number of elder children. Some q-congruences related to 3-adic valuations

In 1992 Strauss, Shallit and Zagier proved that for any positive integer $a$ we have $$\sum_{k=0}^{3^a-1}\binom{2k}{k}=0 (mod 3^{2a})$$ and furthermore $$3^{-2a}}\sum_{k=0}^{3^a-1}\binom{2k}k=1 (mod 3).$$ Recently a $q$-analogue of the former congruence was conjectured by Guo and Zeng. In this paper we prove the Guo-Zeng conjecture and also give a $q$-analogue of the latter congruence.

Arboretum for a generalization of Ramanujan polynomials

In this paper, we expand on the work of Guo and Zeng from 2007 on a generalization of the Ramanujan polynomials and planar trees. We manage to find combinatorial interpretations of this family of polynomials in terms of Greg trees, Cayley trees, and planar trees by constructing bijections that preserve relevant tree statistics.
