The classical representation of random variables as the Ito integral of nonanticipative integrands is extended to include Banach space valued random variables on an abstract Wiener space equipped with a filtration induced by a resolution of the identity on the Cameron-Martin space.
The Ito integral is replaced in this case by an extension of the divergence to random operators, and the operators involved in the representation are adapted with respect to this filtration in a suitably defined sense.
However, the published paper contains a mistake which restricts the validity of the main result, as described in the added Erratum.
In this paper we explore the fundamentals of the Martingale Representation Theorem (MRT) and a closely related result, the Clark-Ocone formula. We also investigate how far these theorems can be taken, notably beyond the regular Sobolev spaces, through changes of measures and enlargement of filtrations. We look at Brownian motion (B.M.) driven continuous martingales as well as Jump and Levy process-driven martingales.
In this paper, we construct a Malliavin derivative for functionals of square-integrable Lévy processes and derive a Clark-Ocone formula. The Malliavin derivative is defined via chaos expansions involving stochastic integrals with respect to Brownian motion and Poisson random measure. As an illustration, we compute the explicit martingale representation for the maximum of a Lévy process.
In this article, we investigate the convergence rate of the discrete-time Clark--Ocone formula provided by Akahori--Amaba--Okuma [1]. In that paper, they mainly focus on the $L_{2}$-convergence rate of the first-order error estimate related to the tracking error of the delta hedge in mathematical finance. Here, as two extensions, we estimate "the higher order error" for Wiener functionals with an integrability index $2$ and "an arbitrary differentiability index."
In this paper, we will establish a discrete-time version of Clark(-Ocone-Haussmann) formula, which can be seen as an asymptotic expansion in a weak sense. The formula is applied to the estimation of the error caused by the martingale representation. In the way, we use another distribution theory with respect to Gaussian rather than Lebesgue measure, which can be seen as a discrete Malliavin calculus.
We generalise the Clark-Ocone formula for functions to give analogous representations for differential forms on the classical Wiener space. Such formulae provide explicit expressions for closed and co-closed differential forms and, as a by-product, a new proof of the triviality of the L^2 de Rham cohomology groups on the Wiener space, alternative to Shigekawa's approach [16] and the chaos-theoretic version [18]. This new approach has the potential of carrying over to curved path spaces, as indicated by the vanishing result for harmonic one-forms in [6]. For the flat path group, the generalised…
In this paper we first prove a Clark--Ocone formula for any bounded measurable functional on Poisson space. Then using this formula, under some conditions on the intensity measure of Poisson random measure, we prove a variational representation formula for the Laplace transform of bounded Poisson functionals, which has been conjectured by Dupuis and Ellis [A Weak Convergence Approach to the Theory of Large Deviations (1997) Wiley], p. 122.
We provide a suitable framework for the concept of finite quadratic variation for processes with values in a separable Banach space $B$ using the language of stochastic calculus via regularizations, introduced in the case $B= \R$ by the second author and P. Vallois. To a real continuous process $X$ we associate the Banach valued process $X(\cdot)$, called {\it window} process, which describes the evolution of $X$ taking into account a memory $τ>0$. The natural state space for $X(\cdot)$ is the Banach space of continuous functions on $[-τ,0]$. If $X$ is a real finite quadratic variation process…
We prove an extension of the Ocone-Karatzas integral representation, valid for all $BV$ functions on the classical Wiener space. We establish also an elementary chain rule formula and combine the two results to compute explicit integral representations for some classes of $BV$ composite random variables.
Hedging strategies in bond markets are computed by martingale representation and the Clark-Ocone formula under the choice of a suitable of numeraire, in a model driven by the dynamics of bond prices. Applications are given to the hedging of swaptions and other interest rate derivatives, and our approach is compared to delta hedging when the underlying swap rate is modeled by a diffusion process.
The Clark-Ocone formula in the theory of discrete-time chaotic calculus holds only for square integrable functionals of discrete-time normal noises. In this paper, we aim at extending this formula to generalized functionals of discrete-time normal noises. Let $Z$ be a discrete-time normal noise that has the chaotic representation property. We first prove a result concerning the regularity of generalized functionals of $Z$. Then, we use the Fock transform to define some fundamental operators on generalized functionals of $Z$, and apply the above mentioned regularity result to prove the continui…
An explicit martingale representation for random variables described as a functional of a Levy process will be given. The Clark-Ocone theorem shows that integrands appeared in a martingale representation are given by conditional expectations of Malliavin derivatives. Our goal is to extend it to random variables which are not Malliavin differentiable. To this end, we make use of Ito's formula, instead of Malliavin calculus. As an application to mathematical finance, we shall give an explicit representation of locally risk-minimizing strategy of digital options for exponential Levy models. Since…
In this paper Clark-Ocone representation for solution to measure-valued equation with interaction is studied. It is proven that the integrand is absolutely continuous with respect to Lebesgue measure.
Let H be a separable real Hilbert space and let F = (F_t)_{t\in [0,T]} be the augmented filtration generated by an H-cylindrical Brownian motion W_H on [0,T]. We prove that if E is a UMD Banach space, 1\leq p<\infty, and f\in D^{1,p}(E) is F_T-measurable, then f = \E f + \int_0^T P_F(Df) dW_H where D is the Malliavin derivative and P_F is the projection onto the F-adapted elements in a suitable Banach space of L^p-stochastically integrable L(H,E)-valued processes.
In a 2006 article (\cite{A1}), Allouba gave his quadratic covariation differentiation theory for Itô's integral calculus. He defined the derivative of a semimartingale with respect to a Brownian motion as the time derivative of their quadratic covariation and a generalization thereof. He then obtained a systematic differentiation theory containing a fundamental theorem of stochastic calculus relating this derivative to Itô's integral, a differential stochastic chain rule, a differential stochastic mean value theorem, and other differentiation rules. Here, we use this differentiation theory to …
In this article, some properties of complex Wiener-Itô multiple integrals and complex Ornstein-Uhlenbeck operators and semigroups are obtained. Those include Stroock's formula, Hu-Meyer formula, Clark-Ocone formula and the hypercontractivity of complex Ornstein-Uhlenbeck semigroups. As an application, several expansions of the fourth moments of complex Wiener-Itô multiple integrals are given.
We prove sufficient conditions, ensuring that a sequence of multiple Wiener-Itô integrals (with respect to a general Gaussian process) converges stably to a mixture of normal distributions. Our key tool is an asymptotic decomposition of contraction kernels, realized by means of increasing families of projection operators. We also use an infinite-dimensional Clark-Ocone formula, as well as a version of the correspondence between "abstract" and "concrete" filtered Wiener spaces, in a spirit similar to Üstünel and Zakai (1997).
In this paper we apply Clark-Ocone formula to deduce an explicit integral representation for the renormalized self-intersection local time of the $d$% -dimensional fractional Brownian motion with Hurst parameter $H\in (0,1)$. As a consequence, we derive the existence of some exponential moments for this random variable.
In present article we prove the existence of multiple self-intersection local times, describe its Ito-Wiener expansion and establish Clark representation for the class of Gaussian integrators generated by operators with a finite dimensional kernel.
The purpose of this note is to prove a central limit theorem for the $L^2$-modulus of continuity of the Brownian local time obtained in \cite{CLMR}, using techniques of stochastic analysis. The main ingredients of the proof are an asymptotic version of Knight's theorem and the Clark-Ocone formula for the $L^2$-modulus of the Brownian local time.
We consider a Poisson process $η$ on a measurable space $(\BY,\mathcal{Y})$ equipped with a partial ordering, assumed to be strict almost everwhwere with respect to the intensity measure $λ$ of $η$. We give a Clark-Ocone type formula providing an explicit representation of square integrable martingales (defined with respect to the natural filtration associated with $η$), which was previously known only in the special case, when $λ$ is the product of Lebesgue measure on $\R_+$ and a $σ$-finite measure on another space $\BX$. Our proof is new and based on only a few basic properties of Poisson p…
We present a construction of the basic operators of stochastic analysis (gradient and divergence) for a class of discrete-time normal martingales called obtuse random walks. The approach is based on the chaos representation property and discrete multiple stochastic integrals. We show that these operators satisfy similar identities as in the case of the Bernoulli randoms walks. We prove a Clark-Ocone-type predictable representation formula, obtain two covariance identities and derive a deviation inequality. We close the exposition by an application to option hedging in discrete time.
We derive Stein approximation bounds for functionals of uniform random variables, using chaos expansions and the Clark-Ocone representation formula combined with derivation and finite difference operators. This approach covers sums and functionals of both continuous and discrete independent random variables. For random variables admitting a continuous density, it recovers classical distance bounds based on absolute third moments, with better and explicit constants. We also apply this method to multiple stochastic integrals that can be used to represent U-statistics, and include linear and quad…
In this paper we introduce a simple space-filtration discretization scheme on Wiener space which allows us to study weak decompositions and smooth explicit approximations for a large class of Wiener functionals. We show that any Wiener functional has an underlying robust semimartingale skeleton which under mild conditions converges to it. The discretization is given in terms of discrete-jumping filtrations which allow us to approximate nonsmooth processes by means of a stochastic derivative operator on the Wiener space. As a by-product, we provide a robust semimartingale approximation for weak…
We prove new upper and lower bounds for Banach space-valued stochastic integrals with respect to a compensated Poisson random measure. Our estimates apply to Banach spaces with non-trivial martingale (co)type and extend various results in the literature. We also develop a Malliavin framework to interpret Poisson stochastic integrals as vector-valued Skorohod integrals, and prove a Clark-Ocone representation formula.
Suppose $B$ is a Brownian motion and $B^n$ is an approximating sequence of rescaled random walks on the same probability space converging to $B$ pointwise in probability. We provide necessary and sufficient conditions for weak and strong $L^2$-convergence of a discretized Malliavin derivative, a discrete Skorokhod integral, and discrete analogues of the Clark-Ocone derivative to their continuous counterparts. Moreover, given a sequence $(X^n)$ of random variables which admit a chaos decomposition in terms of discrete multiple Wiener integrals with respect to $B^n$, we derive necessary and suff…
This article focuses on a new concept of quadratic variation for processes taking values in a Banach space $B$ and a corresponding covariation. This is more general than the classical one of Métivier and Pellaumail. Those notions are associated with some subspace $χ$ of the dual of the projective tensor product of $B$ with itself. We also introduce the notion of a convolution type process, which is a natural generalization of the Itô process and the concept of $\bar ν_0$-semimartingale, which is a natural extension of the classical notion of semimartingale. The framework is the stochastic calc…

Recently, functional Itō calculus has been introduced and developed in finite dimension for functionals of continuous semimartingales. With different techniques, we develop a functional Itō calculus for functionals of Hilbert spacevalued diffusions. In this context, we first prove a path-dependent Itō's formula, then we show applications to classical solutions of path-dependent Kolmogorov equations in Hilbert spaces and derive a Clark-Ocone type formula. Finally, we explicitly verify that all the theory developed can be applied to a class of diffusions driven by SDEs with a path-dependent drif…
An integration by parts formula is the foundation for stochastic analysis on path spaces over a (finite dimensional) Riemannian manifold or over $R^n$, from which we may deduce the operator $d$ is closable and define the Laplacian operator on path spaces. A useful formula on the Riemannian manifold is $$dP_tf(v)=(1/t)E f(x_t) \int_0^t \langle d\{x_s\}, v_s\rangle ,$$ for $P_t$ the heat semi-group, $x_t$ the BM, $v_t$ the derivative flow or its conditional expectation (which is a damped parallel translation), $d\{x_s\}$ is the martingale part of $x_t$. As a meta theorem, this leads to the Clark…
We develop a nonanticipative calculus for functionals of a continuous semimartingale, using an extension of the Ito formula to path-dependent functionals which possess certain directional derivatives. The construction is based on a pathwise derivative, introduced by Dupire, for functionals on the space of right-continuous functions with left limits. We show that this functional derivative admits a suitable extension to the space of square-integrable martingales. This extension defines a weak derivative which is shown to be the inverse of the Ito integral and which may be viewed as a nonanticip…
This paper discusses a new notion of quadratic variation and covariation for Banach space valued processes (not necessarily semimartingales) and related Itô formula. If $\X$ and $\Y$ take respectively values in Banach spaces $B_{1}$ and $B_{2}$ and $χ$ is a suitable subspace of the dual of the projective tensor product of $B_{1}$ and $B_{2}$ (denoted by $(B_{1}\hat{\otimes}_πB_{2})^{\ast}$), we define the so-called $χ$-covariation of $\X$ and $\Y$. If $\X=\Y$, the $χ$-covariation is called $χ$-quadratic variation. The notion of $χ$-quadratic variation is a natural generalization of the one int…
