We make a first step towards a classification of simple generalized Harish-Chandra modules which are not Harish-Chandra modules or weight modules of finite type. For an arbitrary algebraic reductive pair of complex Lie algebras $(\g,\k)$, we construct, via cohomological induction, the fundamental series $F^\cdot (\p,E)$ of generalized Harish-Chandra modules. We then use $F^\cdot (\p,E)$ to characterize any simple generalized Harish-Chandra module with generic minimal $\k$-type. More precisely, we prove that any such simple $(\g,\k)$-module of finite type arises as the unique simple submodule of an appropriate fundamental series module $F^s(\p,E)$ in the middle dimension $s$. Under the stronger assumption that $\k$ contains a semisimple regular element of $\g$, we prove that any simple $(\g,\k)$-module with generic minimal $\k$-type is necessarily of finite type, and hence obtain a reconstruction theorem for a class of simple $(\g,\k)$-modules which can a priori have infinite type. We also obtain generic general versions of some classical theorems of Harish-Chandra, such as the Harish-Chandra admissibility theorem. The paper is concluded by examples, in particular we compute the genericity condition on a $\k$-type for any pair $(\g,\k)$ with $\k\simeq s\ell (2)$.
Let $\frak g$ be a reductive Lie algebra over $\bold C$. We say that a $\frak g$-module $M$ is a generalized Harish-Chandra module if, for some subalgebra $\frak k \subset\frak g$, $M$ is locally $\frak k$-finite and has finite $\frak k$-multiplicities. We believe that the problem of classifying all irreducible generalized Harish-Chandra modules could be tractable. In this paper, we review the recent success with the case when $\frak k$ is a Cartan subalgebra. We also review the recent determination of which reductive in $\frak g$ subalgebras $\frak k$ are essential to a classification. Finall…
We study cohomological induction for a pair $(\frak g,\frak k)$, $\frak g$ being an infinite dimensional locally reductive Lie algebra and $\frak k \subset\frak g$ being of the form $\frak k_0 + C_\gg(\frak k_0)$, where $\frak k_0\subset\frak g$ is a finite dimensional reductive in $\frak g$ subalgebra and $C_{\gg} (\frak k_0)$ is the centralizer of $\frak k_0$ in $\frak g$. We prove a general non-vanishing and $\frak k$-finiteness theorem for the output. This yields in particular simple $(\frak g,\frak k)$-modules of finite type over $\frak k$ which are analogs of the fundamental series of ge…
In this series of papers we want to discuss the highest weight ${\frak k}_r$-finite representations of the pair $({\frak g}_r,{\frak k}_r)$ consisting of ${\frak g}_r$, a real form of a complex basic Lie superalgebra of classical type ${\frak g}$ (${\frak g}\neq A(n,n)$), and the maximal compact subalgebra ${\frak k}_r$ of ${\frak} g_{r,0}$. These representations will be concretely realized through spaces of sections of holomorphic vector bundles on the associated Hermitian superspaces. In this part we shall discuss only the infinitesimal theory of the pair $({\frak g}_r, {\frak k}_r)$. We tre…
Characteristic cycles, leading term cycles, associated varieties and Harish-Chandra cells are computed for the family of highest weight Harish-Chandra modules for Sp(2n, R) having regular integral infinitesimal character.
In this paper we discuss the highest weight $\frak k_r$-finite representations of the pair $(\frak g_r,\frak k_r)$ consisting of $\frak g_r$, a real form of a complex basic Lie superalgebra of classical type $\frak g$ (${\frak g}\neq A(n,n)$), and the maximal compact subalgebra $\frak k_r$ of $\frak g_{r,0}$, together with their geometric global realizations. These representations occur, as in the ordinary setting, in the superspaces of sections of holomorphic super vector bundles on the associated Hermitian superspaces $G_r/K_r$.
We study Harish-Chandra representations of Yangian for gl(2). We prove an analogue of Kostant theorem showing that resterited Yangians for gl(2) are free modules over certain maximal commutative subalgebras. We also study the categories of generic Harish-Chandra modules, describe their simple modules and indecomposable modules in tame blocks.
In this paper, it is proved that all irreducible Harish-Chandra modules over the $\Q$ Heisenberg-Virasoro algebra are of intermediate series (all weight spaces are 1-dimensional).
In this paper we continue the study of the category of modular Harish-Chandra bimodules initiated by Bezrukavnikov and Riche and also study the modular version of the BGG category $\mathcal{O}$. We prove a version of the Bezrukavnikov-Mirkovic-Rumynin localization theorem for the Harish-Chandra bimodules and for the category $\mathcal{O}$. We also relate the category of Harish-Chandra bimodules to the affine Hecke category building on the prior work of Bezrukavnikov and Riche.
In this paper, using the theory of $\A$-cover developed in \cite{B1,BF1}, we completely classify all simple Harish-Chandra modules over the high rank $W$-algebra $W(2,2)$. As a byproduct, we obtain the classification of simple Harish-Chandra modules over the classical $W$-algebra $W(2,2)$ studied in \cite{LGZ,CLW,GLZ1}.
Characteristic cycles and leading term cycles of irreducible highest weight Harish-Chandra modules of regular integral infinitesimal character are determined. In the simply laced cases they are irreducible, but in the nonsimply laced cases they are more complicated.
Many examples are given of irreducible Harish-Chandra modules for type C having reducible leading term cycles. Examples are also given of irreducibles in category O having reducible associated varieties in type C.
We show that the coefficients of Kazhdan-Lusztig-Vogan polynomials attached to certain blocks of Harish-Chandra modules satisfy a monotonicity property relative to the closure order on K-orbits in the flag variety.
We show that all the K-finite matrix elements of irreducible Harish-Chandra modules can can be expressed in spherical functions using finite number of operations
We study the effect of the Howe correspondence on Harish-Chandra series for type I dual pairs ($\mathbf{U}_m(\mathbb{F}_q),\mathbf{U}_n(\mathbb{F}_q$)) and ($\mathbf{Sp}_{2m}(\mathbb{F}_q),\mathbf{O}^\pm_{2n}(\mathbb{F}_q)$), where $\mathbb{F}_q$ denotes the finite field with $q$ elements ($q$ odd). We use the Lusztig correspondence to reduce the study of the Howe correspondence between Harish-Chandra series to a correspondence between unipotent Harish-Chandra series. Finally, we provide two applications of these results.
We show how to compute annihilators and associated varieties of simple Harish-Chandra modules for Sp(p,q) with trivial infinitesimal character from a pair of domino tableaux attached to a parameter for such a module.
In this paper, we give a new approach to classify all simple Harish-Chandra modules for the N=1 Ramond algebra based on the so called A-cover theory developed in \cite{BF}
An elementary and self-contained approach to smooth Frechet globalizations of Harish-Chandra modules is presented. We provide applications to the theory of Eisenstein series and Automatic Continuity.
We survey some results on tensor products of irreducible Harish-Chandra bimodules. It turns out that such tensor products are semisimple in suitable Serre quotient categories. We explain how to identify the resulting semisimple tensor categories and describe some applications to representation theory.
The distribution of the unipotent modules (in non-defining prime characteristic) of the finite unitary groups into Harish-Chandra series is investigated. We formulate a series of conjectures relating this distribution with the crystal graph of an integrable module for a certain quantum group. Evidence for our conjectures is presented, as well as proofs for some of their consequences for the crystal graphs involved. In the course of our work we also generalize Harish-Chandra theory for some of the finite classical groups, and we introduce their Harish-Chandra branching graphs.
In this paper we study the category of Harish-Chandra bimodules $HC_{χ,ψ}$ in the Deligne category $\text{Rep}(GL_t)$. In particular, we answer Question 3.25 posed in Pavel Etingof's paper arXiv:1407.0373 and determine for which central characters $χ$ and $ψ$ this category is not zero.
We formulate and prove a Paley-Wiener theorem for Harish-Chandra modules for a real reductive group. As a corollary we obtain a new and elementary proof of the Helgason conjecture.
We construct categories of Harish-Chandra bimodules for affine Lie algebras analogous to Harish-Chandra bimodules with infinitesimal characters for simple Lie algebras, addressing an old problem raised by I. Frenkel and Malikov. Under an integrality hypothesis, we establish monoidal equivalences between blocks of our affine Harish-Chandra bimodules and versions of the affine Hecke category. To do so, we introduce a new singular localization onto Whittaker flag manifolds. The argument for the latter specializes to a somewhat alternative treatment of regular localization, and identifies the cate…
We prove a general existence result for infinite-dimensional admissible (g;k)-modules, where g is a reductive finite-dimensional complex Lie algebra and k is a reductive in g algebraic subalgebra.
We give a cohomological treatment of a character theory for (g,K)-modules. This leads to a nice formalism extending to large categories of not necessarily admissible (g,K)-modules. Due to results of Hecht, Schmid and Vogan the classical results of Harish-Chandra's global character theory extend to this general setting. As an application we consider a general setup, for which we show that algebraic characters answer discretely decomposable branching problems.
We prove a category equivalence between algebraic supergroups and Harish-Chandra pairs over a commutative ring which is $2$-torsion free. The result is applied to re-construct the Chevalley $\mathbb{Z}$-supergroups constructed by Fioresi and Gavarini [8] and by Gavarini [9, 10]. For a wide class of algebraic supergroups we describe their representations by using their super-hyperalgebras.
In the modular representation theory of finite unitary groups when the characteristic $\ell$ of the ground field is a unitary prime, the $\hat{\mathfrak{sl}}_e$-crystal on level $2$ Fock spaces graphically describes the Harish-Chandra branching of unipotent representations restricted to the tower of unitary groups. However, how to determine the cuspidal support of an arbitrary unipotent representation has remained an open question. We show that for $\ell$ sufficiently large, the $\mathfrak{sl}_\infty$-crystal on the same level $2$ Fock spaces provides the remaining piece of the puzzle for the …
Over an arbitrary field of characteristic $\ne 2$, we define the notion of Harish-Chandra pairs, and prove that the category of those pairs is anti-equivalent to the category of algebraic affine supergroup schemes. The result is applied to characterize some classes of affine supergroup schemes such as those which are (a) simply connected, (b) unipotent or (c) linearly reductive in positive characteristic.
We continue the study of Harish-Chandra bimodules in the setting of the Deligne categories $\mathrm{Rep}(G_t)$, that was started in the previous work of the first author (arXiv:2002.01555). In this work we construct a family of Harish-Chandra bimodules that generalize simple finite dimensional bimodules in the classical case. It turns out that they have finite $K$-type, which is a non-vacuous condition for the Harish-Chandra bimodules in $\mathrm{Rep}(G_t)$. The full classification of (simple) finite $K$-type bimodules is yet unknown. This construction also yields some examples of central char…
The irreducible characters of a finite reductive group are partitioned into Harish-Chandra series that are labelled by cuspidal pairs. In this note, we describe how one can algorithmically calculate those cuspidal pairs using results of Lusztig.
In this paper, we introduce the Harish-Chandra homomorphism for the quantum superalgebra $\mathrm{U}_q(\mathfrak{g})$ associated with a simple basic Lie superalgebra $\mathfrak{g}$ and give an explicit description of its image. We use it to prove that the center of $\mathrm{U}_q(\mathfrak{g})$ is isomorphic to a subring of the ring $J(\mathfrak{g})$ of exponential super-invariants in the sense of Sergeev and Veselov, establishing a Harish-Chandra type theorem for $\mathrm{U}_q(\mathfrak{g})$. As a byproduct, we obtain a basis of the center of $\mathrm{U}_q(\mathfrak{g})$ with the aid of quasi-…
In this paper, we classify simple strong Harish-Chandra modules over the Lie superalgebra $W_{m,n}$ of vector fields on $\C^{m|n}$. Any such module is the unique simple submodule of some tensor module $F(P,V)$ for a simple weight module $P$ over the Weyl superalgebra $\mathcal K_{m,n}$ and a simple weight module $V$ over the general linear superalgebra $\gl_{m,n}$.
In this paper, we classify all simple Harish-Chandra modules over the super affine-Virasoro algebra $\widehat{\mathcal{L}}=\mathcal{W}\ltimes(\mathfrak{g}\otimes \mathcal{A})\oplus \mathbb{C}C$, where $\mathcal{A}=\mathbb{C}[t^{\pm 1}]\otimesΛ(1)$ is the tensor superalgebra of the Laurent polynomial algebra in even variable $t$ and the Grassmann algebra in odd variable $ξ$, $\mathcal{W}$ is the Lie superalgebra of superderivations of $\mathcal{A}$, and $\mathfrak{g}$ is a finite-dimensional perfect Lie superalgebra.
It is well-known that the Harish-Chandra transform, $f\mapsto\mathcal{H}f,$ is a topological isomorphism of the spherical (Schwartz) convolution algebra $\mathcal{C}^{p}(G//K)$ (where $K$ is a maximal compact subgroup of any arbitrarily chosen group $G$ in the Harish-Chandra class and $0<p\leq2$) onto the (Schwartz) multiplication algebra $\bar{\mathcal{Z}}({\mathfrak{F}}^ε)$ (of $\mathfrak{w}-$invariant members of $\mathcal{Z}({\mathfrak{F}}^ε),$ with $ε=(2/p)-1$). The same cannot however be said of the full Schwartz convolution algebra $\mathcal{C}^{p}(G),$ except for few specific examples o…
We study the analogue of the Harish-Chandra homomorphism where the universal enveloping algebra is replaced by the Clifford algebra, $Cl(g)$, of a semisimple Lie algebra $g$. Two main goals are achieved. First, we prove that there is a Harish-Chandra type isomorphism between the subalgebra of $g$-invariants in $Cl(g)$ and the Clifford algebra of the Cartan subalgebra of $g$. Second, the Cartan subalgebra is identified, via this isomorphism, with a graded space of the so-called primitive skew-symmetric invariants of $g$. This leads to a distinguished orthogonal basis of the Cartan subalgebra, w…
For any reductive Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$ and commutative, associative, unital algebra $S$, we give a complete classification of the simple weight modules of $\mathfrak{g}\otimes S $ with finite weight multiplicities. In particular, any such module is parabolically induced from a simple admissible module for a Levi subalgebra. Conversely, all modules obtained in this way have finite weight multiplicities. These modules are isomorphic to tensor products of evaluation modules at distinct maximal ideals of $S$. Our results also classify simple Harish-Chandra modules up to isomorphism for all c…
The notion of a Harish-Chandra bimodule, i.e. finitely generated $U(\mathfrak{g})$-bimodule with locally finite adjoint action, was generalized to any filtered algebra in a work of Losev [Ivan Losev, Dimensions of irreducible modules over W-algebras and Goldie ranks. arXiv:1209.1083]. Similarly to the classical case we can define the notion of a unitarizable bimodule. We investigate a question when the regular bimodule, i.e. the algebra itself, for a deformation of Kleinian singularity of type $A$ is unitarizable. We obtain a partial classification of unitarizable regular bimodules.
In his first 1958 paper on zonal spherical functions Harish-Chandra proved an extremely delicate convergence theorem which was basic to his subsequent definition of his Schwartz space and his theory of cusp forms. This paper gives elementary proofs that a related integral converges for for groups of real rank one, several groups of real rank 2 (including $SO(n,2), Sp_4(R)$ and $Sp_4(C)$), $GL(n,R)$ and $GL(n,C)$. In fact, a stronger result has been proved in <cite>raphael</cite>. Applications of the question are also studied.
In this paper an integral transform between spaces of nonstandard test functions on the affine space of dimension n is constructed. The integral transform satisfies a summation formula of Poisson type, which is derived from an analogue of the Arthur-Selberg trace formula for the Lie algebra of n by n matrices.
In this paper we classify the irreducible Harish-Chandra bimodules with full support over filtered quantizations of conical symplectic singularities under the condition that none of the slices to codimension 2 symplectic leaves has type $E_8$. More precisely, we show that the top quotient $\overline{\operatorname{HC}}(\mathcal{A}_λ)$ of the category of Harish-Chandra bimodules over the quantization $\mathcal{A}_λ$ with parameter $λ$ embeds into the category of representations of the algebraic fundamental group, $Γ$, of the open leaf. The image coincides with the representations of $Γ/Γ_λ$, whe…
In this paper we construct two kinds of infinite-dimensional 3-Lie algebras from a given commutative associative algebra, and show that they are all canonical Nambu 3-Lie algebras. We relate their inner derivation algebras to Witt algebras, and then study the regular representations of these 3-Lie algebras and the natural representations of the inner derivation algebras. In particular, for the second kind of 3-Lie algebras, we find that their regular representations are Harish-Chandra modules, and the inner derivation algebras give rise to intermediate series modules of the Witt algebras and c…
