Preserving the Lindelöf property under forcing extensions

We investigate preservation of the Lindelöf property of topological spaces under forcing extensions. We give sufficient conditions for a forcing notion to preserve several strengthenings of the Lindelöf property, such as indestructible Lindelöf property, the Rothberger property and being a Lindelöf P-space.

Cardinal sequences and Cohen real extensions

We show that if we add any number of Cohen reals to the ground model then, in the generic extension, a locally compact scattered space has at most (2^{aleph_0})^V many levels of size omega. We also give a complete ZFC characterization of the cardinal sequences of regular scattered spaces. Although the classes of the regular and of the 0-dimensional scattered spaces are different, we prove that they have the same cardinal sequences.

Thin-very tall compact scattered spaces which are hereditarily separable

We strengthen the property $Δ$ of a function $f:[ω_2]^2\rightarrow [ω_2]^{\leq ω}$ considered by Baumgartner and Shelah. This allows us to consider new types of amalgamations in the forcing used by Rabus, Juhász and Soukup to construct thin-very tall compact scattered spaces. We consistently obtain spaces $K$ as above where $K^n$ is hereditarily separable for each $n\in\N$. Compact Spaces with a $P$-base

In the paper, we investigate (scattered) compact spaces with a $P$-base for some poset $P$. More specifically, we prove that, under the assumption $ω_1<\mathfrak{b}$, any compact space with an $ω^ω$-base is first-countable and any scattered compact space with an $ω^ω$-base is countable. These give positive solutions to Problems 8.6.9 and 8.7.7 in \cite{Banakh2019}. Using forcing, we also prove that in a model of $ω_1<\mathfrak{b}$, there is a non-first-countable compact space with a $P$-base for some poset $P$ with calibre~$ω_1$.

A convergence on Boolean algebras generalizing the convergence on the Aleksandrov cube

We compare the forcing related properties of a complete Boolean algebra B with the properties of the convergences $λ_s$ (the algebraic convergence) and $λ_{ls}$ on B generalizing the convergence on the Cantor and Aleksandrov cube respectively. In particular we show that $λ_{ls}$ is a topological convergence iff forcing by B does not produce new reals and that $λ_{ls}$ is weakly topological if B satisfies condition $(\hbar)$ (implied by the ${\mathfrak t}$-cc). Compact spaces, lattices, and absoluteness: a survey

Given a compact space in a fixed universe of set theory, one can naturally define its interpretation in any ZFC extension of the universe. We investigate the stability of some classes of compact spaces with respect to extensions of this sort. We show that the class of Eberlein/Gul'ko compacta is stable (= absolute). On the other hand, there are examples of Corson compacta which are no longer Corson in some forcing extensions. All the material comes from the author's notes written between 2004 -- 2006.
