Erratum: Studying Links via Closed Braids IV: Composite Links and Split Links

Operations on open book foliations

We study b-arc foliation change and exchange move of open book foliations which generalize the corresponding operations in braid foliation theory. We also define a bypass move as an analogue of Honda's bypass attachment operation. As applications, we study how open book foliations change under a stabilization of the open book. We also generalize Birman-Menasco's split/composite braid theorem: Closed braid representatives of a split (resp. composite) link in a certain open book can be converted to a split (resp. composite) closed braid by applying exchange moves finitely many times.

A note on HOMFLY polynomial of positive braid links

For a positive braid link, a link represented as a closed positive braids, we determine the first few coefficients of its HOMFLY polynomial in terms of geometric invariants such as, the maximum euler characteristics, the number of split factors, and the number of prime factors. Our results give improvements of known results for Conway and Jones polynomial of positive braid links. In Appendix, we present a simpler proof of theorem of Cromwell, a positive braid diagram represent composite link if and only if the the diagram is composite.

Singularization of knots and closed braids

We construct the first combinatorial 1-cocycle with values in the $ \mathbb{Z} [x,x^{-1}]$-module of isotopy classes of singular long knots in 3-space with a signed planar double point, and which represents a non trivial cohomology class in the topological moduli space of long knots. It can be interpreted as an invariant with values in a $ \mathbb{Z} [x,x^{-1}]$-module generated by 3-manifolds for each element of infinite order of the mapping class group of the complement of a satellite knot in $S^3$.
