We show that the one-sided Dyck shift has a unique tail invariant topologically $σ$-finite measure (up to scaling). This invariant measure of the one sided Dyck turns out to be a shift-invariant probability. Furthermore, it is one of the two ergodic probabilities obtaining maximal entropy. For the two sided Dyck shift we show that there are exactly three ergodic double-tail invariant probabilities. We show that the two sided Dyck has a double-tail invariant probability, which is also shift invariant, with entropy strictly less than the topological entropy.
In a previous paper by the author, it was shown that the One sided Dyck is uniquely ergodic with respect to the one sided-tail relation, where the tail invariant probability is also shift invariant and obtains the topological entropy. In this paper we show that the two sided Dyck has a double-tail invariant probability, which is also shift invariant, with entropy strictly less than the topological entropy. We also prove that this probability, along with the two equilibrium probabilities of the Dyck shift are the only ergodic double-tail invariant probabilities for the Dyck shift.
We introduce a class of coded systems that we construct from sofic systems and Dyck shifts and we study a class of subshifts that we obtain by excluding words of length two from Dyck shifts. We derive expressions for zeta functions and topological entropy. We derive an expression for the zeta function of certain subshifts that we obtain by excluding words from Dyck shifts and of certain subshifts that we obtain by excluding words from the subshifts that are constructed from full shifts and Dyck shifts.
We study the neutral periodic points of the Markov-Dyck shifts of finite strongly connected directed graphs. Under certain hypothesis on the structure of the graphs we show, that the topological conjugacy of their Markov-Dyck shifts implies the isomorphism of the graphs.
We describe structural properties of strongly connected finite directed graphs, that are invariants of the topological conjugacy of their Markov-Dyck shifts. For strongly connected finite directed graphs with these properties topological conjugacy of their Markov-Dyck shifts implies isomorphism of the graphs.
A necessary and sufficient condition is given for the existence of an embedding of an irreducible subshift of finite type into the Fibonacci-Dyck shift
We study subshift that arise by excluding words of length two from Dyck shifts. The words that are to be excluded are taken from a finite set that is not literal-uniform.
We give piecewise affine maps on the unit cube whose symbolic representation is the Dyck shift. This leads to a different way of verifying the chaotic nature of this system, including the computation of entropy.
For a given finite directed graph $G$, there are two types of Markov-Dyck shifts, the Markov-Dyck shift $D_G^V$ of vertex type and the Markov-Dyck shift $D_G^E$ of edge type. It is shown that, if $G$ does not have multi-edges, the former is a finite-to-one factor of the latter, and they have the same topological entropy. An expression for the zeta function of a Markov-Dyck shift of vertex type is given. It is different from that of the Markov-Dyck shift of edge type.
The Markov-Dyck shifts arise from finite directed graphs. An expression for the zeta function of a Markov-Dyck shift is given. The derivation of this expression is based on a formula in Keller (G. Keller, {\it Circular codes, loop counting, and zeta-functions}, J. Combinatorial Theory {\bf 56} (1991), pp. 75--83). For a class of examples that includes the Fibonacci-Dyck shift the zeta functions and topological entropy ae determined.
Let $F$ be the Fibonacci matrix $ \bigl[\begin{smallmatrix} 1 & 1 1 & 0 \\ \end{smallmatrix}\bigr] $. The Fibonacci Dyck shift is a subshsystem of the Dyck shift $D_2$ constrained by the matrix $F$. Let ${{\frak L}^{Ch(D_F)}}$ be a $λ$-graph system presenting the subshift $D_F$, that is called the Cantor horizon $λ$-graph system for $D_F$. We will study the $C^*$-algebra ${\cal O}_{{\frak L}^{Ch(D_F)}}$ associated with $ {{\frak L}^{Ch(D_F)}} $. It is simple purely infinite and generated by four partial isometries with some operator relations. We will compute the K-theory of the $C^*$-algebra.…
A $λ$-graph system is a labeled Bratteli diagram with some additional structure, which presents a subshift and yields a $C^*$-algebra. In this paper, we construct a $λ$-graph system from a pushdown automaton, such that the accepted language by the automaton coincides with the language of admissible words of the presented subshift by the $λ$-graph system. The $λ$-graph systems for pushdown automata accepting the languages of Markov-Dyck shifts and sofic-Dyck shifts are presented.
The class of normal subshifts includes irreducible infinite topological Markov shifts, irreducible infinite sofic shifts, synchronized systems, Dyck shifts, $β$-shifts, substitution minimal shifts, and so on. We will characterize one-sided topological conjugacy classes of normal subshifts in terms of the associated $C^*$-algebras and its gauge actions with potentials.
We will introduce a notion of normal subshifts. A subshift $(Λ,σ)$ is said to be normal if it satisfies a certain synchronizing property called $λ$-synchronizing and is infinite as a set. We have lots of purely infinite simple $C^*$-algebras from normal subshifts including irreducible infinite sofic shifts, Dyck shifts, $β$-shifts, and so on. Eventual conjugacy of one-sided normal subshifts and topological conjugacy of two-sided normal subshifts are characterized in terms of the associated $C^*$-algebras and the associated stabilized $C^*$-algebras with its diagonals and gauge actions, respect…
For SFTs, any equilibrium measure is Gibbs, as long a $f$ has $d$-summable variation. This is a theorem of Lanford and Ruelle. Conversely, a theorem of Dobru{š}in states that for strongly-irreducible subshifts, shift-invariant Gibbs-measures are equilibrium measures. Here we prove a generalization of the Lanford-Ruelle theorem: for all subshifts, any equilibrium measure for a function with $d$-summable variation is "topologically Gibbs". This is a relaxed notion which coincides with the usual notion of a Gibbs measure for SFTs. In the second part of the paper, we study Gibbs and equilibrium me…
We prove that the Karoubi envelope of a shift --- defined as the Karoubi envelope of the syntactic semigroup of the language of blocks of the shift --- is, up to natural equivalence of categories, an invariant of flow equivalence. More precisely, we show that the action of the Karoubi envelope on the Krieger cover of the shift is a flow invariant. An analogous result concerning the Fischer cover of a synchronizing shift is also obtained. From these main results, several flow equivalence invariants --- some new and some old --- are obtained. We also show that the Karoubi envelope is, in a natur…
We show how the fine structure in shift-tail equivalence, appearing in the noncommutative geometry of Cuntz-Krieger algebras developed by the first two authors, has an analogue in a wide range of other Cuntz-Pimsner algebras. To illustrate this structure, and where it appears, we produce an unbounded representative of the defining extension of the Cuntz-Pimsner algebra constructed from a finitely generated projective bi-Hilbertian module, extending work by the third author with Robertson and Sims. As an application, our construction yields new spectral triples for Cuntz- and Cuntz-Krieger alge…
