Let $R$ be a standard graded algebra over a field $k$ and $I$ be a homogeneous ideal of $R$. We study the question whether there is a constant $c$ such that $\Soc(H^{j}_{\fm}(R/I^t))_{<-ct}=0$ for all $t\geq 1$ and a variation of this question. We also draw a connection between this question and the notion of gauge-boundedness in prime characteristic.

Characterizing finite length local cohomology in terms of bounds on Koszul cohomology

Let $(R,m, κ)$ be a local ring. We give a characterization of $R$-modules $M$ whose local cohomology is finite length up to some index in terms of asymptotic vanishing of Koszul cohomology on parameter ideals up to the same index. In particular, we show that a quasi-unmixed module $M$ is asymptotically Cohen-Macaulay if and only if $M$ is Cohen-Macaulay on the punctured spectrum if and only if $\sup\{\ell(H^i(f_1, \ldots, f_d;M))\mid \sqrt{f_1, \ldots, f_d} = m \mbox{, } i< d\}<\infty$.

Irrational Asymptotic Behaviour of Castelnuovo-Mumford Regularity

We give examples of nonsingular curves in projective 3 space such that the regularity of powers of their ideal sheaves are highly nonlinear. This is in constrast to the case of an ideal I in a polynomial ring, where the regularity of I^n is a linear polynomial in n for large n.

On asymptotic vanishing behavior of local cohomology

Let $R$ be a standard graded algebra over a field $k$, with irrelevant maximal ideal $\fm$, and $I$ a homogeneous $R$-ideal. We study the asymptotic vanishing behavior of the graded components of the local cohomology modules $\{\HH{i}{\fm}{R/I^n}\}_{n\in \NN}$ for $i<\dim R/I$. A rigidity property of local cohomology modules

The relationships between the invariants and the homological properties of $I$, ${\rm Gin}(I)$ and $I^{\rm lex}$ have been studied extensively over the past decades. A result of A. Conca, J. Herzog and T. Hibi points out some rigid behaviours of their Betti numbers. In this work we establish a local cohomology counterpart of their theorem. To this end, we make use of properties of sequentially Cohen-Macaulay modules and we study a generalization of such concept by introducing what we call partially sequentially Cohen-Macaulay modules, which might be of interest by themselves.

Asymptotic stability of certain sets of associated prime ideals of local cohomology modules

Let $(R,\m)$ be a Noetherian local ring $I, J$ two ideals of $R$ and $M$ a finitely generated $R-$module. It is first shown that for $k\geq -1$ the integer $r_k = \depth_k(I,J^nM/J^{n+1}M)$, it is the length of a maximal $(J^nM/J^{n+1}M)-$sequence in dimension $>k$ in $I$ defined by M. Brodmann and L. T. Nhan \cite{BN}, becomes for large $n$ independent of $n$. The asymptotic behaviour of symbolic generic initial systems of points in general position

Consider the ideal I corresponding to r points in P^2. We study the symbolic generic initial system of I, formed by taking the generic initial ideals of the symbolic powers of I, and its asymptotic behaviour. In particular, we describe the limiting shape of this system explicitly when the points lie in general position using the SHGH Conjecture for more than eight points. The symbolic generic initial system and its limiting shape reflects information about the Hilbert functions of uniform fat point ideals.
