Adjoint and Frobenius Pairs of Functors for Corings

We investigate adjoint and Frobenius pairs between categories of comodules over rather general corings. We particularize to the case of the adjoint pair of functors associated to a morphism of corings over different base rings, which leads to a reasonable notion of Frobenius coring extension. When applied to corings stemming from entwining structures, we obtain new results in this setting and in graded ring theory.

Representation stacks, D-branes and noncommutative geometry

In this note we prove that the spec(C)-points of the representation Artin-stack [rep_n R/PGL_n] of n-dimensional representations of an affine algebra R correspond to algebra morphisms R-->A where A is an Azumaya algebra of degree n over C. We connect this to the study of D-branes and Azumaya noncommutative geometry, developed by Chien-Hao Liu and Shing-Tung Yau in a series of papers from arXiv:0709.1515 to arXiv:1003.1178

Universal enveloping algebras of Lie-Rinehart algebras as a left adjoint functor

We prove how the universal enveloping algebra constructions for Lie-Rinehart algebras and anchored Lie algebras are naturally left adjoint functors. This provides a conceptual motivation for the universal properties these constructions satisfy. As a supplement, the categorical approach offers new insights into the definitions of Lie-Rinehart algebra morphisms, of modules over Lie-Rinehart algebras and of the infinitesimal gauge algebra of a module.

On the quantum groups and semigroups of maps between noncommutative spaces

We define algebraic families of (all) morphisms which are purely algebraic analogs of quantum families of (all) maps introduced by P.M. Soltan. Also, algebraic families of (all) isomorphisms are introduced. By using these notions we construct two classes of Hopf-algebras which may be interpreted as the quantum group of all maps from a finite space to a quantum group, and the quantum group of all automorphisms of a finite NC space. Noncommutative geometry of rational elliptic curves

We study an interplay between operator algebras and geometry of rational elliptic curves. Namely, let $\mathcal{O}_B$ be the Cuntz-Krieger algebra given by square matrix $B=(b-1, ~1, ~b-2, ~1)$, where $b$ is an integer greater or equal to two. It is proved, that there exists a dense self-adjoint sub-algebra of $\mathcal{O}_B$, which is isomorphic (modulo an ideal) to a twisted homogeneous coordinate ring of the rational elliptic curve $\mathcal{E}({\Bbb Q})=\{(x,y,z) \in {\Bbb P}^2({\Bbb C}) ~|~ y^2z=x(x-z)(x-{b-2\over b+2}z)\}$.

A Kochen-Specker theorem for integer matrices and noncommutative spectrum functors

We investigate the possibility of constructing Kochen-Specker uncolorable sets of idempotent matrices whose entries lie in various rings, including the rational numbers, the integers, and finite fields. Most notably, we show that there is no Kochen-Specker coloring of the $n \times n$ idempotent integer matrices for $n \geq 3$, thereby illustrating that Kochen-Specker contextuality is an inherent feature of pure matrix algebra.
