We consider the time-inhomogeneous Markovian jump process introduced by John S. Bell [Phys.Rep. 137, 49] for a lattice quantum field theory, which runs on the associated configuration space. Its jump rates, tailored to give the process the quantum distribution $|Ψ_t|^2$ at all times $t$, typically exhibit singularities. We establish the existence of a unique such process for all times, under suitable assumptions on the Hamiltonian or the initial state vector $Ψ_0$. The proof of non-explosion takes advantage of the special role of the $|Ψ_t|^2$ distribution.
We consider a time inhomogeneous Cox-Ingersoll-Ross diffusion with positive jumps. We exploit a branching property to prove existence of a unique strong solution under a restrictive condition on the jump measure. We give Laplace transforms for the transition probabilities, with an interpretation in terms of limits of mixtures over Gamma laws.
In this paper we consider the $q$-deformed totally asymmetric zero range process ($q$-TAZRP), also known as the $q$-boson (stochastic) particle system, on the ${\mathbb Z}$ lattice, such that the jump rate of a particle depends on the site where it is on the lattice. We derive the transition probability for an $n$ particle process in Bethe ansatz form as a sum of $n!$ $n$-fold contour integrals. Our result generalizes the transition probability formula by Korhonen and Lee for $q$-TAZRP with a homogeneous lattice, and our method follows the same approach as theirs.
We introduce and study the inhomogeneous exponential jump model - an integrable stochastic interacting particle system on the continuous half line evolving in continuous time. An important feature of the system is the presence of arbitrary spatial inhomogeneity on the half line which does not break the integrability. We completely characterize the macroscopic limit shape and asymptotic fluctuations of the height function (= integrated current) in the model. In particular, we explain how the presence of inhomogeneity may lead to macroscopic phase transitions in the limit shape such as shocks or…
We prove the global asymptotic equivalence between the experiments generated by the discrete (high frequency) or continuous observation of a path of a time inhomogeneous jump-diffusion process and a Gaussian white noise experiment. Here, the considered parameter is the drift function, and we suppose that the observation time $T$ tends to $\infty$. The approximation is given in the sense of the Le Cam $Δ$-distance, under smoothness conditions on the unknown drift function. These asymptotic equivalences are established by constructing explicit Markov kernels that can be used to reproduce one exp…
In this paper we introduce non-decreasing jump processes with independent and time non-homogeneous increments. Although they are not Lévy processes, they somehow generalize subordinators in the sense that their Laplace exponents are possibly different Bernštein functions for each time $t$. By means of these processes, a generalization of subordinate semigroups in the sense of Bochner is proposed. Because of time-inhomogeneity, two-parameter semigroups (propagators) arise and we provide a Phillips formula which leads to time dependent generators. The inverse processes are also investigated and …
The contact process is a particular case of birth-and-death processes on infinite particle configurations. We consider the contact models on locally compact separable metric spaces. We prove the existence of a one-parameter set of invariant measures in the critical regime under the condition imposed on the associated Markov jump process. This condition, roughly speaking, requires the separation of any pair of trajectories of this jump process. The general scheme can be applied to the contact process on the lattice in a heterogeneous and random environments as well as to the contact process on …
In this article, we consider time-inhomogeneous diffusive particle systems, whose particles jump from the boundary of a bounded open subset of $\R^d$, $d\geq 1$. We give a sufficient criterion for the family of empirical distributions of such systems to be uniformly tight, independently of the jump location of the particles. As an application, we show that the conditional distribution of a family of time-inhomogeneous and environment-dependent diffusions conditioned not to hit the boundary of a bounded open subset of $\R^d$ is uniformly tight.
A jump process for the positions of interacting quantum particles on a lattice, with time-dependent transition rates governed by the state vector, was first considered by J.S. Bell. We review this process and its continuum variants involving ``minimal'' jump rates, describing particles as they get created, move, and get annihilated. In particular, we sketch a recent proof of global existence of Bell's process. As an outlook, we suggest how methods of this proof could be applied to similar global existence questions, and underline the particular usefulness of minimal jump rates on manifolds wit…
We prove an invariance principle for a tagged particle in a simple exclusion process out of equilibrium. The scaling limit is a time-inhomogeneous process of independent increments, related to the solution of a fractional heat equation.

We consider the PushTASEP (pushing totally asymmetric simple exclusion process, also sometimes called long-range TASEP) with the step initial configuration evolving in an inhomogeneous space. That is, the rate of each particle's jump depends on the location of this particle. We match the distribution of the height function of this PushTASEP with Schur processes. Using this matching and determinantal structure of Schur processes, we obtain limit shape and fluctuation results which are typical for stochastic particle systems in the Kardar-Parisi-Zhang universality class. PushTASEP is a close rel…
Distributional properties -including Laplace transforms- of integrals of Markov processes received a lot of attention in the literature. In this paper, we complete existing results in several ways. First, we provide the analytical solution to the most general form of Gaussian processes (with non-stationary increments) solving a stochastic differential equation. We further derive the characteristic function of integrals of Lévy-processes and Lévy driven Ornstein-Uhlenbeck processes with time-inhomogeneous coefficients based on the characteristic exponent of the corresponding stochastic integral…
The paper considers a continuous-time birth-death process where the jump rate has an asymptotically polynomial dependence on the process position. We obtain a rough exponential asymptotics for the probability of excursions of a re-scaled process contained within a neighborhood of a given continuous non-negative function.
We derive sufficient conditions for the differentiability of all orders for the flow of stochastic differential equations with jumps, and prove related $L^p$-integrability results for all orders. Our results extend similar results obtained in [Kun04] for first order differentiability and rely on the Burkholder-Davis-Gundy inequality for time inhomogeneous Poisson random measures on ${\Bbb R}_+\times {\Bbb R}$, for which we provide a new proof.
Time-inhomogeneous controlled diffusion processes in both cylindrical and noncylindrical domains are considered. Bellman's principle and its applications to proving the continuity of value functions are investigated.

We study the obtainment of closed-form formulas for the distribution of the jumps of a doubly-stochastic Poisson process. The problem is approached in two ways. On the one hand, we translate the problem to the computation of multiple derivatives of the Hazard process cumulant generating function; this leads to a closed-form formula written in terms of Bell polynomials. On the other hand, for Hazard processes driven by Lévy processes, we use Malliavin calculus in order to express the aforementioned distributions in an appealing recursive manner. We outline the potential application of these res…
We reinterpret and generalize conjectures of Lam and Williams as statements about the stationary distribution of a multispecies exclusion process on the ring. The central objects in our study are the multiline queues of Ferrari and Martin. We make some progress on some of the conjectures in different directions. First, we prove their conjectures in two special cases by generalizing the rates of the Ferrari-Martin transitions. Secondly, we define a new process on multiline queues, which have a certain minimality property. This gives another proof for one of the special cases; namely arbitrary j…
We construct a family of non-Gaussian martingales the marginals of which are all Gaussian. We give the predictable quadratic variation of these processes and show they do not have continuous paths. These processes are Markovian and inhomogeneous in time, and we give their infinitesimal generators. Within this family we find a class of piecewise deterministic pure jump processes and describe the laws of jumps and times between the jumps.
The space-fractional and the time-fractional Poisson processes are two well-known models of fractional evolution. They can be constructed as standard Poisson processes with the time variable replaced by a stable subordinator and its inverse, respectively. The aim of this paper is to study non-homogeneous versions of such models, which can be defined by means of the so-called multistable subordinator (a jump process with non-stationary increments), denoted by H. Firstly, we consider the Poisson process time-changed by H and we obtain its explicit distribution and governing equation. Then, by us…
We consider a class of diffusions controlled through the drift and jump size, and driven by a jump Lévy process and a nondegenerate Wiener process, and we study infinite horizon (ergodic) risk-sensitive control problem for this model. We start with the controlled Dirichlet eigenvalue problem in smooth bounded domains, which also allows us to generalize current results in the literature on exit rate control problems. Then we consider the infinite horizon average risk-sensitive minimization problem and maximization problems on the whole domain. Under suitable hypotheses, we establish existence a…
We prove a hydrodynamic limit for the totally asymmetric simple exclusion process with spatially inhomogeneous jump rates given by a speed function that may admit discontinuities. The limiting density profiles are described with a variational formula. This formula enables us to compute explicit density profiles even though we have no information about the invariant distributions of the process. In the case of a two-phase flow for which a suitable p.d.e. theory has been developed we also observe that the limit profiles are entropy solutions of the corresponding scalar conservation law with a di…
We propose a new probabilistic numerical scheme for fully nonlinear equation of Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman (HJB) type associated to stochastic control problem, which is based on the Feynman-Kac representation in [12] by means of control randomization and backward stochastic differential equation with nonpositive jumps. We study a discrete time approximation for the minimal solution to this class of BSDE when the time step goes to zero, which provides both an approximation for the value function and for an optimal control in feedback form. We obtained a convergence rate without any ellipticity con…
We explicitly construct so-called captive jump processes. These are stochastic processes in continuous time, whose dynamics are confined by a time-inhomogeneous bounded domain. The drift and volatility of the captive processes depend on the domain's boundaries which in turn restricts the state space of the process. We show how an insurmountable shell may contain the captive jump process while the process may jump within the restricted domain. In a further development, we also show how - within a confined domain - inner time-dependent corridors can be introduced, which a captive jump process ma…

We consider a time-consistent mean-variance portfolio selection problem of an insurer and allow for the incorporation of basis (mortality) risk. The optimal solution is identified with a Nash subgame perfect equilibrium. We characterize an optimal strategy as solution of a system of partial integro-differential equations (PIDEs), a so called extended Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman (HJB) system. We prove that the equilibrium is necessarily a solution of the extended HJB system. Under certain conditions we obtain an explicit solution to the extended HJB system and provide the optimal trading strategies…
The Poisson process is one of the simplest stochastic processes defined in continuous time, having interesting mathematical properties, leading, in many situations, to applications mathematically treatable. One of the limitations of the Poisson process is the rare events hypothesis; which is the hypothesis of unitary jumps within an infinitesimal window of time. Although that restriction may be avoided by the compound Poisson process, in most situations, we don't have a closed expression for the probability distribution of the increments of such processes, leaving us options such as working wi…
It is well-known from the work of Schönbucher (2005) that the marginal laws of a loss process can be matched by a unit increasing time inhomogeneous Markov process, whose deterministic jump intensity is called local intensity. The Stochastic Local Intensity (SLI) models such as the one proposed by Arnsdorf and Halperin (2008) allow to get a stochastic jump intensity while keeping the same marginal laws. These models involve a non-linear SDE with jumps. The first contribution of this paper is to prove the existence and uniqueness of such processes. This is made by means of an interacting partic…
A multi--state life insurance model is naturally described in terms of the intensity matrix of an underlying (time--inhomogeneous) Markov process which describes the dynamics for the states of an insured person. Between and at transitions, benefits and premiums are paid, defining a payment process, and the technical reserve is defined as the present value of all future payments of the contract. Classical methods for finding the reserve and higher order moments involve the solution of certain differential equations (Thiele and Hattendorf, respectively). In this paper we present an alternative m…
We treat the class of universal Markov processes on the d-dimensional Euklidean space which do not depend on random. For these, as well as for several subclasses, we prove criteria whether a function f, defined on the positive half-line, can be a path of a process in the respective class. This is useful in particular in the construction of (counter-)examples. Furthermore we characterize the processes of this kind, which are homogeneous in space and time. The semimartingale property is characterized in terms of the jumps of a one-dimensional deterministic Markov process. We emphasize the differ…
A compound Poisson process whose randomized time is an independent Poisson process is called compound Poisson process with Poisson subordinator. We provide its probability distribution, which is expressed in terms of the Bell polynomials, and investigate in detail both the special cases in which the compound Poisson process has exponential jumps and normal jumps. Then for the iterated Poisson process we discuss some properties and provide convergence results to a Poisson process. The first-crossing-time problem for the iterated Poisson process is finally tackled in the cases of (i) a decreasin…
Consider a population where individuals give birth at constant rate during their lifetimes to i.i.d. copies of themselves. Individuals bear clonally inherited types, but (neutral) mutations may happen at the birth events. The smallest subtree containing the genealogy of all the extant individuals at a fixed time τ, is called the coalescent point process. We enrich this process with the history of the mutations that appeared over time, and call it the marked coalescent point process. With the help of limit theorems for Lévy processes with marked jumps established in a previous work (arXiv:1305.…
