Norm closure of classical pseudodifferential operators does not contain Hörmander's class

The L2-norm closure of the algebra of all zero-order classical (or polyhomogeneous) pseudodifferential operators on a closed manifold $X$ is proven not to contain Hörmander's class $Ψ^0(X)$. A set of generators (for that closed algebra) smaller than all zero-order classical pseudos is also described.

The K-theory of bisingular pseudodifferential algebras

In this paper we calculate the K-theory of $C^{\ast}$-algebras given by the norm-closures of spaces of bisingular pseudodifferential operators. We obtain results for the \emph{global} bisingular calculus in the flat ($\Rr^{n_1 + n_2}$) case.

The Chern-Connes Character for pseudodifferential operators on the sphere

We compute the Chern-Connes character (a map from the $K$-theory of a C$^*$-algebra under the action of a Lie group to the cohomology of its Lie algebra) for the $L^2$-norm closure of the algebra of all classical zero-order pseudodifferential operators on the sphere under the canonical action of ${\rm SO}(3)$. We show that its image is $\mathbb{R}$ if the trace is the integral of the principal symbol.

On the Essential Spectrum of Phase-Space Anisotropic Pseudodifferential Operators

A phase-space anisotropic operator in H=L^2(R^n) is a self-adjoint operator whose resolvent family belongs to a natural C*-completion of the space of Hörmander symbols of order zero. Equivalently, each member of the resolvent family is norm-continuous under conjugation with the Schrödinger unitary representation of the Heisenberg group.
