We prove Iqbal's conjecture on the relationship between the free energy of closed string theory in local toric geometry and the Wess-Zumino-Witten model. This is achieved by first reformulating the calculations of the free energy by localization techniques in terms of suitable Feynman rule, then exploiting a realization of the Feynman rule by free bosons. We also use a formula of Hodge integrals conjectured by the author and proved jointly with Chiu-Chu Melissa Liu and Kefeng Liu.
We prove that the moduli space of the pseudo holomorphic curves in the A-model on a symplectic torus is homeomorphic to a moduli space of Feynman diagrams in the configuration space of the morphisms in the B-model on the corresponding elliptic curve. These moduli spaces determine the $A_{\infty}$ structure of the both models.
We elaborate on the recent proposal that intersection numbers of certain cohomology classes on the moduli space of genus-zero Riemann surfaces with punctures compute tree-level scattering amplitudes in quantum field theories. The relevant cohomology classes are twisted by representations of the fundamental group that describes how punctures braid around each other on the Riemann surface, which can be used to link it to the space of kinematic invariants. Intersection numbers of said cohomology classes, whose representatives we call twisted forms, can be shown to fully localize on the boundaries…
In this work we study a realization of moduli spaces of framed quiver representations as Grassmannians of submodules devised by Marcus Reineke. Obtained is a generalization of this construction for finite dimensional associative algebras and for quivers with oriented cycles. As an application we get an explicit realization of fibers for the moduli space bundle over the categorical quotient for the quiver $A_{n-1}^{(1)}$.
We apply the technique of localization for vertex algebras to the Segal-Sugawara construction of an ``internal'' action of the Virasoro algebra on affine Kac-Moody algebras. The result is a lifting of twisted differential operators from the moduli of curves to the moduli of curves with bundles, with arbitrary decorations and complex twistings. This construction gives a uniform approach to a collection of phenomena describing the geometry of the moduli spaces of bundles over varying curves: the KZB equations and heat kernels on non-abelian theta functions, their critical level limit giving the …
Tropicalization is a procedure that assigns polyhedral complexes to algebraic subvarieties of a torus. If one fixes a weighted polyhedral complex, one may study the set of all subvarieties of a toric variety that have that complex as their tropicalization. This gives a "tropical realization" moduli functor. We use rigid analytic geometry and the combinatorics of Chow complexes as studied by Alex Fink to prove that when the ambient toric variety is quasiprojective, the moduli functor is represented by a rigid space. As an application, we show that if a polyhedral complex is the tropicalization …
This is a note in which we first review symmetries of moduli spaces of stable meromorphic connections on trivial vector bundles over the Riemann sphere, and next discuss symmetries of their integrable deformations as an application. In the study of the symmetries, a realization of the moduli spaces as quiver varieties is given and plays an essential role.
We study differential forms on an algebraic compactification of a moduli space of metric graphs. Canonical examples of such forms are obtained by pulling back invariant differentials along a tropical Torelli map. The invariant differential forms in question generate the stable real cohomology of the general linear group, as shown by Borel. By integrating such invariant forms over the space of metrics on a graph, we define canonical period integrals associated to graphs, which we prove are always finite and take the form of generalised Feynman integrals. Furthermore, canonical integrals can be …
Kontsevich's 1997 formula for the deformation quantization of Poisson brackets is a Feynman expansion involving volume integrals over moduli spaces of marked disks. We develop a systematic theory of integration on these moduli spaces via suitable algebras of polylogarithms, and use it to prove that Kontsevich's integrals can be expressed as integer-linear combinations of multiple zeta values. Our proof gives a concrete algorithm for calculating the integrals, which we have used to produce the first software package for the symbolic calculation of Kontsevich's formula.
We present an algorithm that computes the number of realizations of a Laman graph on a sphere for a general choice of the angles between the vertices. The algorithm is based on the interpretation of such a realization as a point in the moduli space of stable curves of genus zero with marked points, and on the explicit description, due to Keel, of the Chow ring of this space.
We define complexes of vector bundles on products of moduli spaces of framed rank r torsion-free sheaves on the complex projective plane. The top non-vanishing Chern classes of the cohomology of these complexes yield actions of the r-colored Heisenberg and Clifford algebras on the equivariant cohomology of the moduli spaces. In this way we obtain a geometric realization of the boson-fermion correspondence and related vertex operators.
In the last years the biregular automorphisms of the Deligne-Mumford's and Hassett's compactifications of the moduli space of n-pointed genus g smooth curves have been extensively studied by A. Bruno and the authors. In this paper we give a survey of these recent results and extend our techniques to some moduli spaces appearing as intermediate steps of the Kapranov's and Keel's realizations of $\bar{M}_{0,n}$, and to the degenerations of Hassett's spaces obtained by allowing zero weights.
We introduce a moduli functor for varieties whose tropicalization realizes a given weighted fan and show that this functor is an algebraic space in general, and is represented by a scheme of finite type when the associated toric variety is quasiprojective. We study the geometry of these tropical realization spaces for the matroid fans studied by Ardila and Klivans, and show that the tropical realization space of a matroid fan is a torus torsor over the realization space of the matroid. As a consequence, we deduce that these tropical realization spaces satisfy Murphy's Law.
Let $\mathcal{M}_{n,2n+2}$ be the coarse moduli space of CY manifolds arising from a crepant resolution of double covers of $\mathbb{P}^n$ branched along $2n+2$ hyperplanes in general position. We show that the monodromy group of a good family for $\mathcal{M}_{n,2n+2}$ is Zariski dense in the corresponding symplectic or orthogonal group if $n\geq 3$. In particular, the period map does not give a uniformization of any partial compactification of the coarse moduli space as a Shimura variety whenever $n\geq 3$. This disproves a conjecture of Dolgachev. As a consequence, the fundamental group of …
A new class of infinite dimensional representations of the Yangians $Y(\frak{g})$ and $Y(\frak{b})$ corresponding to a complex semisimple algebra $\frak{g}$ and its Borel subalgebra $\frak{b}\subset\frak{g}$ is constructed. It is based on the generalization of the Drinfeld realization of $Y(\frak{g})$, $\frak{g}=\frak{gl}(N)$ in terms of quantum minors to the case of an arbitrary semisimple Lie algebra $\frak{g}$. The Poisson geometry associated with the constructed representations is described. In particular it is shown that the underlying symplectic leaves are isomorphic to the moduli spaces…
This note outlines the realizable extension problem for weighted graphs and provides results of a detailed analysis of this problem for the weighted graph $(K_{3,3},l)$. This analysis is then utilized to provide a result relating to the connectedness of the moduli space of planar realizations of $(K_{3,3},l)$. The note culminates with two examples which show that in general, realizability and connectedness results relating to the moduli spaces of weighted cycles which are contained in a larger weighted graph cannot be extended to similar results regarding the moduli space of the larger weighte…
It is one of the wonderful ``coincidences'' of the theory of finite groups that the simple group G of order 25920 arises as both a symplectic group in characteristic 3 and a unitary group in characteristic 2. These two realizations of G yield two G-covers of the moduli space of configurations of six points on the projective line modulo PGL_2, via the 3- and 2-torsion of the Jacobians of the double and triple cyclic covers of P^1 branched at those six points. Remarkably these two covers are isomorphic. This was proved over C by transcendental methods by Hunt and Weintraub. We give an algebraic …
It is known that generalized deformation in the sense of Hitchin-Gaultieri is a geometric realization of the degree-2 component of Kontsevich-Barannikov's homological approach to extended deformation. Through extended deformation, one associates a Frobenius structure to the extended moduli space. In this notes, we prove that on primary Kodaira manifolds the restriction of the Frobenius structure on the degree-2 component of the extended moduli space is trivial. It generalizes the author's past observation on Kodaira surface.
This paper deals with moduli spaces of framed principal bundles with connections with irregular singularities over a compact Riemann surface. These spaces have been constructed by Boalch by means of an infinite-dimensional symplectic reduction. It is proved that the symplectic structure induced from the Atiyah--Bott form agrees with the one given in terms of hypercohomology. The main results of this paper adapt work of Krichever and of Hurtubise to give an interpretation of some Hitchin Hamiltonians as yielding Hamiltonian vector fields on moduli spaces of irregular connections that arise from…
We construct geometric realizations of the r-colored bosonic and fermionic Fock space on the equivariant cohomology of the moduli space of framed rank r torsion-free sheaves on CP^2. Using these constructions, we realize geometrically all level one irreducible representations of the affine Lie algebra \hat{gl(r)}. The cyclic group Z_k acts naturally on the moduli space of sheaves, and the fixed-point components of this action are cyclic Nakajima quiver varieties . We realize level k irreducible representations of \hat{gl(r)} on the equivariant cohomology of these quiver varieties.
