Subquotients of Hecke C^*-algebras

The Bost-Connes Hecke C^*-algebra can be regarded as a direct limit of subalgebras involving finite sets of primes. Each of these finite-prime analogues of the Bost-Connes algebra is a crossed product by a semigroup N^F, where F is finite. We describe composition series of ideals for these semigroup crossed products in which the intermediate subquotients are finite direct sums of classifiable AT-algebras. We then use similar techniques to identify subquotients of the Bost-Connes algebra as classifiable AT-algebras.

As recently pointed out by Gabe, a fundamental paper by Elliott and Kucerovsky concerning the absorption theory for C*-algebras contains an error, and as a consequence we must report that Lemma 4.5 in "Classifying C*-algebras with both finite and infinite subquotients" J. Classifying $C^*$-algebras with both finite and infinite subquotients

We give a classification result for a certain class of $C^{*}$-algebras $\mathfrak{A}$ over a finite topological space $X$ in which there exists an open set $U$ of $X$ such that $U$ separates the finite and infinite subquotients of $\mathfrak{A}$. We will apply our results to $C^{*}$-algebras arising from graphs.

Filtrated K-theory for real rank zero C*-algebras

Hecke algebras of semidirect products

We consider group-subgroup pairs in which the group is a semidirect product and the subgroup is contained in the normal part. We give conditions for the pair to be a Hecke pair and we show that the enveloping Hecke algebra and Hecke C*-algebra are canonically isomorphic to semigroup crossed products, generalizing earlier results of Arledge, Laca and Raeburn and of Brenken.

Representations of Hecke algebras and dilations of semigroup crossed products

We consider a family of Hecke C*-algebras which can be realised as crossed products by semigroups of endomorphisms. We show by dilating representations of the semigroup crossed product that the category of representations of the Hecke algebra is equivalent to the category of continuous unitary representations of a totally disconnected locally compact group.

On enveloping C*-algebras of Hecke algebras

We give a sufficient condition for a $^*$-algebra with a specified basis to have an enveloping $C^*$-algebra. Particularizing to the setting of a Hecke algebra $\h(G,\gm)$, we show that under a suitable assumption not only we can assure that an enveloping $C^*$-algebra $C^*(G, \gm)$ exists, but also that it coincides with $C^*(L^1(G,\gm))$, the enveloping $C^*$-algebra of the $L^1$-Hecke algebra. Hecke algebras from groups acting on trees and HNN extensions

We study Hecke algebras of groups acting on trees with respect to geometrically defined subgroups. In particular, we consider Hecke algebras of groups of automorphisms of locally finite trees with respect to vertex and edge stabilizers and the stabilizer of an end relative to a vertex stabilizer, assuming that the actions are sufficiently transitive. Fourier transforms of $C^*$-algebras of nilpotent Lie groups

For any nilpotent Lie group $G$ we provide a description of the image of its $C^*$-algebra through its operator-valued Fourier transform. Quasi-symmetric group algebras and C*-completions of Hecke algebras
