We prove the Arnold-Givental conjecture for a class of Lagrangian submanifolds in Marsden-Weinstein quotients which are fixpoint sets of some antisymplectic involution. For these Lagrangians the Floer homology cannot in general be defined by standard means due to the bubbling phenomenon. To overcome this difficulty we consider moment Floer homology whose boundary operator is defined by counting solutions of the symplectic vortex equations on the strip which have better compactness properties than the original Floer equations.

In this article, we give proofs on the Arnold Lagrangian intersection conjecture on the cotangent bundles, Arnold-Givental Lagrangian intersection conjecture and the Arnold fixed point conjecture.
The objective of this paper is to clarify the relationships between the quantum D-module and equivariant Floer theory. Equivariant Floer theory was introduced by Givental in his paper ``Homological Geometry''. He conjectured that the quantum D-module of a symplectic manifold is isomorphic to the equivariant Floer cohomology for the universal cover of the free loop space. First, motivated by the work of Guest, we formulate the notion of ``abstract quantum D-module''which generalizes the D-module defined by the small quantum cohomology algebra. Second, we define the equivariant Floer cohomology …
We present another view dealing with the Arnold-Givental conjecture on a real symplectic manifold $(M, ω, τ)$ with nonempty and compact real part $L={\rm Fix}(τ)$. For given $Λ\in (0, +\infty]$ and $m\in\N\cup\{0\}$ we show the equivalence of the following two claims: (i) $\sharp(L\capϕ^H_1(L))\ge m$ for any Hamiltonian function $H\in C_0^\infty([0, 1]\times M)$ with Hofer's norm $\|H\|<Λ$; (ii) $\sharp {\cal P}(H,τ)\ge m$ for every $H\in C^\infty_0(\R/\Z\times M)$ satisfying $H(t,x)=H(-t,τ(x))\;\forall (t,x)\in\mathbb{R}\times M$ and with Hofer's norm $\|H\|<2Λ$, where ${\cal P}(H, τ)$ is the…
In this article we consider a variant of Rabinowitz Floer homology in order to define a homological count of discriminant points for paths of contactomorphisms. The growth rate of this count can be seen as an analogue of Givental's nonlinear Maslov index. As an application we prove a Bott-Samelson type obstruction theorem for positive loops of contactomorphisms.
In the approach to Gromov-Witten theory developed by Givental, genus-zero Gromov-Witten invariants of a manifold X are encoded by a Lagrangian cone in a certain infinite-dimensional symplectic vector space. We give a construction of this cone, in the spirit of S^1-equivariant Floer theory, in terms of S^1-equivariant Gromov-Witten theory of the product X \times P^1. This gives a conceptual understanding of the "dilaton shift": a change-of-variables which plays an essential role in Givental's theory.
We prove that the rank of the cohomology of a closed symplectic manifold with coefficients in a field of characteristic $p$ is smaller than the number of periodic orbits of any non-degenerate Hamiltonian flow. Following Floer, the proof relies on constructing a homology group associated to each such flow, and comparing it with the homology of the ambient symplectic manifold. The proof does not proceed by constructing a version of Floer's complex with characteristic $p$ coefficients, but uses instead the canonical (stable) complex orientations of moduli spaces of Floer trajectories to construct…
We generalize and refine the hyperkähler Arnold conjecture, which was originally established, in the non-degenerate case, for three-dimensional time by Hohloch, Noetzel and Salamon by means of hyperkähler Floer theory. In particular, we prove the conjecture in the case where the time manifold is a multidimensional torus and also establish the degenerate version of the conjecture. Our method relies on Morse theory for generating functions and a finite-dimensional reduction along the lines of the Conley-Zehnder proof of the Arnold conjecture for the torus.
In this paper we calculate the Lagrangian Floer homology $HF(L_0, L_1 : {\mathbb Z}_2)$ of a pair of real forms $(L_0,L_1)$ in a monotone Hermitian symmetric space $M$ of compact type in the case where $L_0$ is not necessarily congruent to $L_1$. In particular, we have a generalization of the Arnold-Givental inequality in the case where $M$ is irreducible. As its application, we prove that the totally geodesic Lagrangian sphere in the complex hyperquadric is globally volume minimizing under Hamiltonian deformations.
The purpose of this mostly expository paper is to discuss a connection between Nielsen fixed point theory and symplectic Floer homology theory for symplectomorphisms of surface and a calculation of Seidel's symplectic Floer homology for different mapping classes. We also describe symplectic zeta functions and asympltotic symplectic invariant. A generalisation of the Poincare- Birkhoff fixed point theorem and Arnold conjecture is proposed.
Embedded contact homology (ECH) is a kind of Floer homology for contact three-manifolds. Taubes has shown that ECH is isomorphic to a version of Seiberg-Witten Floer homology (and both are conjecturally isomorphic to a version of Heegaard Floer homology). This isomorphism allows information to be transferred between topology and contact geometry in three dimensions. In this article we first give an overview of the definition of embedded contact homology. We then outline its applications to generalizations of the Weinstein conjecture, the Arnold chord conjecture, and obstructions to symplectic …
We study the following rigidity problem in symplectic geometry:can one displace a Lagrangian submanifold from a hypersurface? We relate this to the Arnold Chord Conjecture, and introduce a refined question about the existence of relative leaf-wise intersection points, which are the Lagrangian-theoretic analogue of the notion of leaf-wise intersection points defined by Moser. Our tool is Lagrangian Rabinowitz Floer homology, which we define first for Liouville domains and exact Lagrangian submanifolds with Legendrian boundary. We then extend this to the `virtually contact' setting. By means of …
For any closed symplectic manifold, we show that the number of 1-periodic orbits of a nondegenerate Hamiltonian thereon is bounded from below by a version of total Betti number over Z of the ambient space taking account of the total Betti number over Q and torsions of all characteristic. The proof is based on constructing a Hamiltonian Floer theory over the Novikov ring with integer coefficients, which generalizes our earlier work for constructing integer-valued Gromov-Witten type invariants. In the course of the construction, we build a Hamiltonian Floer flow category with compatible smooth g…
According to the Arnold conjectures and Floer's proofs, there are non-trivial lower bounds for the number of periodic solutions of Hamiltonian differential equations on a closed symplectic manifold whose symplectic form vanishes on spheres. We use an iterated graph construction and Lagrangian Floer homology to show that these lower bounds also hold for certain Hamiltonian delay equations.
We use Floer homology to study the Hofer-Zehnder capacity of neighborhoods near a closed symplectic submanifold M of a geometrically bounded and symplectically aspherical ambient manifold. We prove that, when the unit normal bundle of M is homologically trivial in degree dim(M) (for example, if codim(M) > dim(M)), a refined version of the Hofer-Zehnder capacity is finite for all open sets close enough to M. We compute this capacity for certain tubular neighborhoods of M by using a squeezing argument in which the algebraic framework of Floer theory is used to detect nontrivial periodic orbits. …
The present authors introduced the notion of \emph{weakly unobstructed} Lagrangian submanifolds and constructed their \emph{potential function} $\mathfrak{PO}$ purely in terms of $A$-model data in [FOOO2]. In this paper, we carry out explicit calculations involving $\mathfrak{PO}$ on toric manifolds and study the relationship between this class of Lagrangian submanifolds with the earlier work of Givental [Gi1] which advocates that quantum cohomology ring is isomorphic to the Jacobian ring of a certain function, called the Landau-Ginzburg superpotential. Combining this study with the results fr…
The embedded contact homology (ECH) of a 3-manifold with a contact form is a variant of Eliashberg-Givental-Hofer's symplectic field theory, which counts certain embedded J-holomorphic curves in the symplectization. We show that the ECH of T^3 is computed by a combinatorial chain complex which is generated by labeled convex polygons in the plane with vertices at lattice points, and whose differential involves `rounding corners'. We compute the homology of this combinatorial chain complex. The answer agrees with the Ozsvath--Szabo Floer homology HF^+(T^3).
I outline the history and the original proof of the Arnold conjecture on fixed points of Hamiltonian maps for the special case of the torus, leading to a sketch of the proof for general symplectic manifolds and to Floer homology. This is the written version of my talk at the Geometric Dynamics Days 2017 (February 3-4) at the RUB in Bochum.
Partially motivated by the study of topological Hamiltonian dynamics, we prove various $C^0$-aspects of the Lagrangian spectral invariants and the basic phase functions $f_H$, that is, a natural graph selector constructed by Lagrangian Floer homology of $H$ (relative to the zero section $o_N$). In particular, we prove that $$ γ^{lag}(ϕ_H^1(o_N)): = ρ^{lag}(H;1) - ρ^{lag}(H;[pt]^\#) \to 0 $$ as $ϕ_H^1 \to id$, \emph{provided} $H$'s satisfy $\supp X_H \subset D^R(T^*N) \setminus o_B$ for some $R > 0$ and a closed subset $B \subset N$ with nonempty interior. We also study the relationship between…
