"Brave New" Algebraic Geometry and global derived moduli spaces of ring spectra

We develop homotopical algebraic geometry (see math.AG/0207028) in the special context where the base symmetric monoidal model category is the category S of spectra, i.e. what might be called, after Waldhausen, ``brave new algebraic geometry''. We discuss various model topologies on the model category of commutative algebras in S, the associated theories of geometric S-stacks (a geometric S-stack being an analog of Artin notion of algebraic stack in Algebraic Geometry), and finally show how to define global moduli spaces of associative ring spectra structures and a moduli space related to topological modular forms as geometric S-stacks.

Brave new local moduli for ordinary K3 surfaces

It is shown that the K3 spectra which refine the local rings of the moduli stack of ordinary p-primitively polarized K3 surfaces in characteristic p allow for an Eoo structure which is unique up to equivalence. This uses the Eoo obstruction theory of Goerss and Hopkins and the description of the deformation theory of such K3 surfaces in terms of their Hodge F-crystals due to Deligne and Illusie. Furthermore, all automorphism of such K3 surfaces can be realized by Eoo maps which are unique up to homotopy, and this can by rigidified to an action if the automorphism group is tame.

Weierstrass cycles and tautological rings in various moduli spaces of algebraic curves

We analyze Weierstrass cycles and tautological rings in moduli space of smooth algebraic curves and in moduli spaces of integral algebraic curves with embedded disks with special attention to moduli spaces of curves having genus $\leq 6$. In particular, we show that our general formula gives a good estimate for the dimension of Weierstrass cycles for lower genera.

Etale homotopy types of moduli stacks of algebraic curves with symmetries

Using the machinery of etale homotopy theory a' la Artin-Mazur we determine the etale homotopy types of moduli stacks over $\bar{\Q}$ parametrizing families of algebraic curves of genus g greater than 1 endowed with an action of a finite group G of automorphisms, which comes with a fixed embedding in the mapping class group, such that in the associated complex analytic situation the action of G is precisely the differentiable action induced by this specified embedding of G in the mapping class group.

The irreducible components of the moduli space of dihedral covers of algebraic curves

In this paper we introduce a new invariant for the action of a finite group $G$ on a compact complex curve of genus $g$. With the aid of this invariant we achieve the classification of the components of the moduli space of curves with an effective action by the dihedral group $D_n$. Moduli stacks of algebraic structures and deformation theory

We connect the homotopy type of simplicial moduli spaces of algebraic structures to the cohomology of their deformation complexes. Then we prove that under several assumptions, mapping spaces of algebras over a monad in an appropriate diagram category form affine stacks in the sense of Toen-Vezzosi's homotopical algebraic geometry. Poisson geometry of the moduli of local systems on smooth varieties

We study the moduli of G-local systems on smooth but not necessarily proper complex algebraic varieties. We show that, when suitably considered as derived algebraic stacks, they carry natural Poisson structures, generalizing the well known case of curves. We also construct symplectic leaves of this Poisson structure by fixing local monodromies at infinity, and show that a new feature, called strictness, appears as soon as the divisor at infinity has non-trivial crossings.

Cohomology of the moduli stack of algebraic vector bundles

Let $\mathscr{V}\mathrm{ect}_n$ be the moduli stack of vector bundles of rank $n$ on schemes. We prove that, if $E$ is a Zariski sheaf of ring spectra which is equipped with finite quasi-smooth transfers and satisfies the projective bundle formula, then $E^*(\mathscr{V}\mathrm{ect}_{n,S})$ is freely generated by Chern classes $c_1,\dotsc,c_n$ over $E^*(S)$ for any scheme $S$. Examples include all multiplicative localizing invariants.

Moduli spaces and algebraic cycles in real algebraic geometry

This thesis intends to make a contribution to the theories of algebraic cycles and moduli spaces over the real numbers. In the study of the subvarieties of a projective algebraic variety, smooth over the field of real numbers, the cycle class map between the Chow ring and the equivariant cohomology ring plays an important role. An algebraic approach to virtual fundamental cycles on moduli spaces of pseudo-holomorphic curves

We develop techniques for defining and working with virtual fundamental cycles on moduli spaces of pseudo-holomorphic curves which are not necessarily cut out transversally.
