We consider a certain class of Herglotz-Nevanlinna matrix-valued functions which can be realized as the Weyl-Titchmarsh matrix-valued function of some symmetric operator and its self-adjoint extension. New properties of Weyl -Titchmarsh matrix-valued functions as well as a new version of the functional model in such realizations are presented. In the case of periodic Herglotz-Nevanlinna matrix-valued functions we provide a complete characterization of their realizations in terms of the corresponding functional model. We also obtain properties of a symmetric operator and its self-adjoint extension generating periodic Weyl-Titchmarsh matrix-valued function. We study pairs of operators (a symmetric operator and its self-adjoint extension) with constant Weyl-Titchmarsh matrix-valued functions and establish connections between such pairs of operators and representations of the canonical commutation relations for unitary groups of operators in Weyl's form. As a consequence of such an approach we obtain the Stone-von Neumann theorem for two unitary groups of operators satisfying the commutation relations as well as some extension and refinement of the classical functional model for generators of those groups. Our examples include multiplication operators in weighted spaces, first and second order differential operators, as well as the Schrödinger operator with linear potential and its perturbation by bounded periodic potential.
We study general (not necessarily Hamiltonian) first-order symmetric systems $J y'(t)-B(t)y(t)=\D(t) f(t)$ on an interval $[a,b> $ with the regular endpoint $a$. The deficiency indices $n_\pm$ of the corresponding minimal relation $\Tmi$ may be arbitrary (possibly unequal). Our approach is based on the concept of a decomposing boundary triplet, which enables one to parametrize various classes of extensions of $\Tmi$ (self-adjoint, $m$-dissipative, etc.) in terms of boundary conditions imposed on regular and singular values of a function $y\in \dom \tma$ at the endpoints $a$ and $b$ respectivel…
We study general (not necessarily Hamiltonian) first-order symmetric systems $J y'(t)-B(t)y(t)=\D(t) f(t)$ on an interval $\cI=[a,b> $ with the regular endpoint $a$. It is assumed that the deficiency indices $n_\pm(\Tmi)$ of the minimal relation $\Tmi$ in $\LI$ satisfy $n_-(\Tmi)\leq n_+(\Tmi)$. By using a Nevanlinna boundary parameter $τ=τ(ł)$ at the singular endpoint $b$ we define self-adjoint and $ł$-depending Nevanlinna boundary conditions which are analogs of separated self-adjoint boundary conditions for Hamiltonian systems. With a boundary value problem involving such conditions we asso…
We study general (not necessarily Hamiltonian) first-order symmetric systems $J y'-B(t)y=\D(t) f(t)$ on an interval $\cI=[a,b\rangle $ with the regular endpoint $a$. It is assumed that the deficiency indices $n_\pm(\Tmi)$ of the minimal relation $\Tmi$ satisfy $n_+(\Tmi)< n_-(\Tmi)$. We define $ł$-depending boundary conditions which are analogs of separated self-adjoint boundary conditions for Hamiltonian systems. With a boundary value problem involving such conditions we associate an exit space self-adjoint extension $\wt T$ of $\Tmi$ and the $m$-function $m(\cd)$, which is an analog of the T…
We consider a class of pseudodifferential operators defined on the product of two closed manifolds, with crossed vector valued symbols. We study the asymptotic expansion of Weyl counting function of positive selfadjoint operators in this class. Exploiting a general Theorem of J. Aramaki, we determine the first term of the asymptotic expansion of Weyl counting function and, in a special case, we find the second term. We finish with some examples, emphasizing connections with problems of analytic number theory, in particular with Dirichlet Divisor Problem.
In this paper, we study harmonic analysis on the affine Poincaré group $\mathcal{P}_{aff}$, which is a non-unimodular group, and obtain pseudo-differential operators with operator valued symbols. More precisely, we study the boundedness properties of pseudo-differential operators on $\mathcal{P}_{aff}$. We also provide a necessary and sufficient condition on the operator-valued symbols such that the corresponding pseudo-differential operators are in the class of Hilbert--Schmidt operators. Consequently, we obtain a characterization of the trace class pseudo-differential operators on the Poinca…
In this article, we study two different types of operators, the localization operator and Weyl transform, on the reduced Heisenberg group with multidimensional center $\mathcal{G}$. The group $\mathcal{G}$ is a quotient group of non-isotropic Heisenberg group with multidimensional center $\mathcal{H}^m$ by its center subgroup. Firstly, we define the localization operator using a wavelet transform on $\mathcal{G}$ and obtain the product formula for the localization operators. Next, we define the Weyl transform associated to the Wigner transform on $\mathcal{G}$ with the operator-valued symbol. …
Let $G$ be a unimodular type I second countable locally compact group and $\hat G$ its unitary dual. We introduce and study a global pseudo-differential calculus for operator-valued symbols defined on $G\times\hat G$, and its relations to suitably defined Wigner transforms and Weyl systems. We also unveil its connections with crossed products $C^*$-algebras associated to certain $C^*$-dynamical systems, and apply it to the spectral analysis of covariant families of operators. Applications are given to nilpotent Lie groups, in which case we relate quantizations with operator-valued and scalar-v…
In these lecture notes we present connections between the theory of iterated function systems, in particular those attractors that are graphs of multivariate real-valued fractal functions, foldable figures and affine Weyl groups, and wavelet sets.
In this paper, we find a polynomial-type Jost solution of a self-adjoint matrix-valued discrete Dirac system. Then we investigate analytical properties and asymptotic behavior of this Jost solution. Using the Weyl compact perturbation theorem, we prove that matrix-valued discrete Dirac system has continuous spectrum filling the segment $[-2,2].$ Finally, we examine the properties of the eigenvalues of this Dirac system and we prove that it has a finite number of simple real eigenvalues.
Schrödinger operators with nonlocal $δ$-interaction are studied with the use of the Lax-Phillips scattering theory methods. The condition of applicability of the Lax-Phillips approach in terms of non-cyclic functions is established. Two formulas for the $S$-matrix are obtained. The first one deals with the Krein-Naimark resolvent formula and the Weyl-Titchmarsh function, whereas the second one is based on modified reflection and transmission coefficients. The $S$-matrix $S(z)$ is analytical in the lower half-plane $\mathbb{C_-}$ when the Schrödinger operator with nonlocal $δ$-interaction is po…
We develop an abstract framework for the investigation of quantization and dequantization procedures based on orthogonality relations that do not necessarily involve group representations. To illustrate the usefulness of our abstract method we show that it behaves well with respect to the infinite tensor products. This construction subsumes examples coming from the study of magnetic Weyl calculus, the magnetic pseudo-differential Weyl calculus, the metaplectic representation on locally compact abelian groups, irreducible representations associated with finite-dimensional coadjoint orbits of so…
We study a transform, inspired by coherent state transforms, from the Hilbert space of Clifford algebra valued square integrable functions $L^2({\mathbb R}^m,dx)\otimes {\mathbb C}_{m}$ to a Hilbert space of solutions of the Weyl equation on ${\mathbb R}^{m+1}= {\mathbb R} \times {\mathbb R}^m$, namely to the Hilbert space ${\mathcal M}L^2({\mathbb R}^{m+1},dμ)$ of ${\mathbb C}_m$-valued monogenic functions on ${\mathbb R}^{m+1}$ which are $L^2$ with respect to an appropriate measure $dμ$. We prove that this transform is a unitary isomorphism of Hilbert spaces and that it is therefore an analo…
Let $l[y]$ be a formally selfadjoint differential expression of an even order on the interval $[0,b> \;(b\leq \infty)$ and let $L_0$ be the corresponding minimal operator. By using the concept of a decomposing boundary triplet we consider the boundary problem formed by the equation $l[y]-ły=f\;(f\in L_2[0,b>)$ and the Nevanlinna $ł$-depending boundary conditions with constant values at the regular endpoint 0. For such a problem we introduce the concept of the $m$-function, which in the case of selfadjoint decomposing boundary conditions coincides with the classical characteristic (Titchmarsh-W…
We investigate the group $\mathcal{H}_\mathbb{C}$ of complexified Heisenberg matrices with entries from an infinite-dimensional complex Hilbert space $H$. Irreducible representations of the Weyl--Schr{ö}dinger type on the space $L^2_χ$ of quadratically integrable $\mathbb{C}$-valued functions are described. Integrability is understood with respect to the projective limit $χ=\varprojlimχ_i$ of probability Haar measures $χ_i$ defined on groups of unitary $i\times i$-matrices $U(i)$. The measure $χ$ is invariant under the infinite-dimensional group $U(\infty)=\bigcup U(i)$ and satisfies the abstr…
The abstract theory of boundary triples is applied to the classical Jacobi differential operator and its powers in order to obtain the Weyl $m$-function for several self-adjoint extensions with interesting boundary conditions: separated, periodic and those that yield the Friedrichs extension. These matrix-valued Nevanlinna--Herglotz $m$-functions are, to the best knowledge of the author, the first explicit examples to stem from singular higher-order differential equations. The creation of the boundary triples involves taking pieces, determined in a previous paper, of the principal and non-prin…
