In the present paper we discuss the general facts, concerning the Schlesinger system: the (τ)-function, the local factorization of solutions of Fuchsian equations and holomorphic deformations. We introduce the terminology "isoprincipal" for the deformations of Fuchsian equations with general (not necessarily non-resonant) matrix coefficients, corresponding to solutions of the Schlesinger system.

Rational Solutions of the Schlesinger System and Isoprincipal Deformations of Rational Matrix Functions II

In this second article of the series we study holomorphic families of generic rational matrix functions parameterized by the pole and zero loci. In particular, the isoprincipal deformations of generic rational matrix functions are proved to be isosemiresidual. The corresponding rational solutions of the Schlesinger system are constructed and the explicit expression for the related tau function is given. The main tool is the theory of joint system representations for rational matrix functions with prescribed pole and zero structures.

Deformations of Fuchsian Systems of Linear Differential Equations and the Schlesinger System

We consider holomorphic deformations of Fuchsian systems parameterized by the pole loci. It is well known that, in the case when the residue matrices are non-resonant, such a deformation is isomonodromic if and only if the residue matrices satisfy the Schlesinger system with respect to the parameter. Without the non-resonance condition this result fails: there exist non-Schlesinger isomonodromic deformations. Algebro-geometric solutions of the Schlesinger systems and the Poncelet-type polygons in higher dimensions

A new method to construct algebro-geometric solutions of rank two Schlesinger systems is presented. For an elliptic curve represented as a ramified double covering of CP^1, a meromorphic differential is constructed with the following property: the common projection of its two zeros on the base of the covering, regarded as a function of the only moving branch point of the covering, is a solution of a Painleve VI equation. Isomonodromy transformations of linear systems of difference equations

We introduce and study isomonodromy transformations of the matrix linear difference equation Y(z+1)=A(z)Y(z) with polynomial (or rational) A(z). Our main result is a construction of an isomonodromy action of Z^{m(n+1)-1} on the space of coefficients A(z) (here m is the size of matrices and n is the degree of A(z)). Hermite-Pade approximation, isomonodromic deformation and hypergeometric integral

We develop an underlying relationship between the theory of rational approximations and that of isomonodromic deformations. We show that a certain duality in Hermite's two approximation problems for functions leads to the Schlesinger transformations, i.e. transformations of a linear differential equation shifting its characteristic exponents by integers while keeping its monodromy invariant. Discrete Painlevé equations, Orthogonal Polynomials on the Unit Circle and $N$-recurrences for averages over U(N) -- \PVI $τ$-functions

The theory of orthogonal polynomials on the unit circle is developed for a general class of weights leading to systems of recurrence relations and derivatives of the polynomials and their associated functions, and to functional-difference equations of certain coefficient functions appearing in the theory.
