Adjointable monoidal functors and quantum groupoids

Every monoidal functor G: C --> M has a canonical factorization through the category of bimodules over some monoid R in M such that the factor U: C -->_R M_R is strongly unital. Using this result and the characterization of the forgetful functors M_A -->_R M_R of bialgebroids A over R given by Schauenburg together with their bimonad description given by the author recently here we characterize the "long" forgetful functors M_A -->_R M_R --> M of both bialgebroids and weak bialgebras.

Half-balanced braided monoidal categories and Teichmueller groupoids in genus zero

We introduce the notions of a half-balanced braided monoidal category and of its contraction. These notions give rise to an explicit description of the action of the Galois group of QQ on Teichmueller groupoids in genus 0, equivalent to that of L. Schneps. We also show that a prounipotent version of this action is equivalent to a graded action.

The monoidal Eilenberg-Moore construction and bialgebroids

Monoidal functors U:C --> M with left adjoints determine, in a universal way, monoids T in the category of oplax monoidal endofunctors on M. Such monads will be called bimonads. Treating bimonads as abstract "quantum groupoids" we derive Tannaka duality between left adjointable monoidal functors and bimonads. Bialgebroids, i.e., Takeuchi's x_R-bialgebras, appear as the special case when T has also a right adjoint. Street's 2-category of monads then leads to a natural definition of the 2-category of bialgebroids.

Morita base change in quantum groupoids

Let $L$ be a quantum semigroupoid, more precisely a $\times_R$-bialgebra in the sense of Takeuchi. We describe a procedure replacing the algebra $R$ by any Morita equivalent, or in fact more generally any $\sqrt{\text{Morita}}$ equivalent (in the sense of Takeuchi) algebra $S$ to obtain a $\times_S$-bialgebra $\widetilde H$ with the same monoidal representation category.

Representations of matched pairs of groupoids and applications to weak Hopf algebras

We introduce the category of set-theoretic representations of a matched pair of groupoids. This is a monoidal category endowed with a monoidal functor to the category of quivers over the common base of the groupoids in the matched pair (the forgetful functor). We study monoidal functors between two such categories of representations which preserve the forgetful functor. Weak Hopf monoids in braided monoidal categories

We develop the theory of weak bimonoids in braided monoidal categories and show them to be quantum categories in a certain sense. Weak Hopf monoids are shown to be quantum groupoids. Each separable Frobenius monoid R leads to a weak Hopf monoid R \otimes R.

Quivers over a fixed base set form a monoidal category with tensor product given by pullback. The quantum Yang-Baxter equation, or more properly the braid equation, is investigated in this setting. Skew monoidales, skew warpings and quantum categories

Kornel Szlachányi recently used the term skew-monoidal category for a particular laxified version of monoidal category. Algebraic structures in comodule categories over weak bialgebras

We observe that all classical Hamiltonian systems coming from the invariant polynomials on a reductive Lie algebra g can be integrated in a universal way.
