The total homology of the loop space of the configuration space of ordered distinct n points in R^m has a structure of a Hopf algebra defined by the 4-term relations if m>2. We describe a relation of between the cohomology of this loop space and the set of finite type invariants for the pure braid group with n strands. Based on this we give expressions of certain link invariants as integrals over cycles of the above loop space.

Inertia Orbifolds, Configuration Spaces and the Ghost Loop Space

In this paper we define and study the "ghost loop orbifold" of an orbifold $X$ consisting of those loops that remain constant in the coarse moduli space of $X$. We construct a configuration space model for the ghost loop orbifold using an idea of G. Segal. From this we exhibit the relation between the Hochschild and cyclic homologies of the inertia orbifold of $X$ (that generate the so-called twisted sectors in string theory) and the ordinary and equivariant homologies of the ghost loop orbifold. Milnor invariants of string links, trivalent trees, and configuration space integrals

We study configuration space integral formulas for Milnor's homotopy link invariants, showing that they are in correspondence with certain linear combinations of trivalent trees. Our proof is essentially a combinatorial analysis of a certain space of trivalent "homotopy link diagrams" which corresponds to all finite type homotopy link invariants via configuration space integrals. The Homology of Configuration Spaces of Trees with Loops

We show that the homology of ordered configuration spaces of finite trees with loops is torsion free. We introduce configuration spaces with sinks, which allow for taking quotients of the base space. Furthermore, we give a concrete generating set for all homology groups of configuration spaces of trees with loops and the first homology group of configuration spaces of general finite graphs. An important technique in the paper is the identification of the $E^1$-page and differentials of Mayer-Vietoris spectral sequences for configuration spaces.

Configuration spaces on the sphere and higher loop spaces

We show that the homology over a field of the space of free maps from the n-sphere to the n-fold suspension of X depends only on the cohomology algebra of X and compute it explicitly. We compute also the homology of the closely related labelled configuration space on the n-sphere with labels in X and of its completion, that depends only on the homology of X. In many but not all cases the homology of the configuration space coincides with the homology of the mapping space. In particular we obtain the homology of the unordered configuration spaces on a sphere.

Configuration spaces are not homotopy invariant

We present a counterexample to the conjecture on the homotopy invariance of configuration spaces. More precisely, we consider the lens spaces $L_{7,1}$ and $L_{7,2}$, and prove that their configuration spaces are not homotopy equivalent by showing that their universal coverings have different Massey products.

Loop homological invariants associated to real projective spaces

Let A be a based subspace of Y. Under the assumptions that Y is path-connected and that the reduced diagonal map of A induces the zero map in all mod 2 reduced homology groups, we compute a formula for the mod 2 reduced Poincaré series of the loop space $Ω((A \wedge \mathbb{RP}^\infty) \cup_{A \wedge \mathbb{RP}^1} (Y \wedge \mathbb{RP}^1))$. Here $\mathbb{RP}^\infty$ and $\mathbb{RP}^1$ denote the infinite real projective space and the real projective line respectively.

Remarks on invariants of hamiltonian loops

In this note the interrelations between several natural morphisms on the $π_1$ of groups of Hamiltonian diffeomorphisms are investigated. As an application, the equality of the (non-linear) Maslov index of loops of quantomorphisms of prequantizations of $\C P^n$ and the Calabi-Weinstein invariant is shown, settling affirmatively a conjecture by A. Loop space homology associated to the mod 2 Dickson invariants

The spaces BG_2 and BDI(4) have the property that their mod 2 cohomology is given by the rank 3 and 4 Dickson invariants respectively. Associated with these spaces one has for q odd the classifying spaces of the finite groups BG_2(q)and the exotic family of classifying spaces of 2-local finite groups BSol(q). In this article compute the mod 2 loop space homology of the 2-completed classifying space of G_2(q) and of BSol(q) for all odd primes q, as algebras over the Steenrod algebra, and the associated Bockstein spectral sequences.
