Graph C*-algebras and Z/2Z-quotients of quantum spheres

We consider two Z/2Z-actions on the Podles generic quantum spheres. They yield, as noncommutative quotient spaces, the Klimek-Lesniewski q-disc and the quantum real projective space, respectively. The C*-algebras of all these quantum spaces are described as graph C*-algebras. The K-groups of the thus presented C*-algebras are then easily determined from the general theory of graph C*-algebras. For the quantum real projective space, we also recall the classification of the classes of irreducible *-representations of its algebra and give a linear basis for this algebra.

A maximal cubic quotient of the braid algebra

We study a quotient of the group algebra of the braid group in which the Artin generators satisfy a cubic relation. This quotient is maximal among the ones satisfying such a cubic relation. It is finite-dimensional for at least n at most 5 and we investigate its module structure in this range. We also investigate the proper quotients of it that appear in the realm of quantum groups, and describe another maximal quotient related to the usual Hecke algebras. Canonical Bases for Hecke Algebra Quotients

We establish the existence of an IC basis for the generalized Temperley--Lieb algebra associated to a Coxeter system of arbitrary type. We determine this basis explicitly in the case where the Coxeter system is simply laced and the algebra is finite dimensional.

Quantum Homogeneous Spaces as Quantum Quotient Spaces

We show that certain embeddable homogeneous spaces of a quantum group that do not correspond to a quantum subgroup still have the structure of quantum quotient spaces. We propose a construction of quantum fibre bundles on such spaces. The quantum plane and the general quantum two-spheres are discussed in detail.

Centralizers of the superalgebra osp(1|2): the Brauer algebra as a quotient of the Bannai-Ito algebra

We provide an explicit isomorphism between a quotient of the Bannai--Ito algebra and the Brauer algebra. We clarify also the connection with the action of the Lie superalgebra osp(1|2) on the threefold tensor product of its fundamental representation. Finally, a conjecture is proposed to describe the centralizer of osp(1|2) acting on three copies of an arbitrary finite irreducible representation in terms of a quotient of the Bannai-Ito algebra.

Hopf algebras with enough quotients

A family of algebra maps $H\to A_i$ whose common domain is a Hopf algebra is said to be jointly inner faithful if it does not factor simultaneously through a proper Hopf quotient of $H$. We show that tensor and free products of jointly inner faithful maps of Hopf algebras are again jointly inner faithful, generalizing a number of results in the literature on torus generation of compact quantum groups.

A cellular quotient of the Temperley--Lieb algebra of type $D$

The Temperley--Lieb algebra, invented by Temperley and Lieb in 1971, is a finite dimensional associative algebra that arose in the context of statistical mechanics. Later in 1971, Penrose showed that this algebra can be realized in terms of certain diagrams. Then in 1987, Jones showed that the Temperley--Lieb algebra occurs naturally as a quotient of the Hecke algebra arising from a Coxeter group of type $A$. Representations of finite-dimensional quotient algebras of the 3-string braid group

We consider quotients of the group algebra of the $3$-string braid group $B_3$ by $p$-th order generic polynomial relations on the elementary braids. In cases $p=2,3,4,5$ these quotient algebras are finite dimensional. We give semisimplicity criteria for these algebras and present explicit formulas for all their irreducible representations.

An abelian quotient of the symplectic derivation Lie algebra of the free Lie algebra

We construct an abelian quotient of the symplectic derivation Lie algebra $\mathfrak{h}_{g,1}$ of the free Lie algebra generated by the fundamental representation of $\mathrm{Sp}(2g,\mathbb{Q})$. More specifically, we show that the weight $12$ part of the abelianization of $\mathfrak{h}_{g,1}$ is $1$-dimensional for $g \ge 8$. The computation is done with the aid of computers.

Quantized primitive ideal spaces as quotients of affine algebraic varieties

Given an affine algebraic variety V and a quantization A of its coordinate ring, it is conjectured that the primitive ideal space of A can be expressed as a topological quotient of V. Evidence in favor of this conjecture is discussed, and positive solutions for several types of varieties (obtained in joint work with E. S. Letzter) are described. In particular, explicit topological quotient maps are given in the case of quantum toric varieties.

The structure of quotients of the Onsager algebra by closed ideals

We study the Onsager algebra from the ideal theoretic point of view. A complete classification of closed ideals and the structure of quotient algebras are obtained. We also discuss the solvable algebra aspect of the Onsager algebra through the use of formal Lie algebras.

Presenting quantum Schur algebras as quotients of the quantized universal enveloping algebra of gl(2)

We obtain a presentation of quantum Schur algebras (over the field Q(v)) by generators and relations. This presentation is compatible with the usual presentation of the quantized universal enveloping algebra of the Lie algebra gl(2). We also locate the ``integral'' form of the quantum Schur algebra within the presented algebra and show it has a basis which is closely related to Lusztig's basis of the integral form of the quantized enveloping algebra.

Quantum Sphere via Reflection Equation Algebra

Quantum sphere is introduced as a quotient of the so-called Reflection Equation Algebra. This enables us to construct some line bundles on it by means of the Cayley-Hamilton identity whose a quantum version was discovered in \cite{PS}, \cite{GPS}. A new way to introduce some elements of "braided geometry" on the quantum sphere is discussed.

Schur-Weyl duality, Verma modules, and row quotients of Ariki-Koike algebras

We prove a Schur-Weyl duality between the quantum enveloping algebra of $\mathfrak{gl}_m$ and certain quotient algebras of Ariki-Koike algebras, which we give explicitly. Symmetric chain decomposition for cyclic quotients of Boolean algebras and relation to cyclic crystals

The quotient of a Boolean algebra by a cyclic group is proven to have a symmetric chain decomposition. This generalizes earlier work of Griggs, Killian and Savage on the case of prime order, giving an explicit construction for any order, prime or composite. The combinatorial map specifying how to proceed downward in a symmetric chain is shown to be a natural cyclic analogue of the $\mathfrak{sl}_2$ lowering operator in the theory of crystal bases.
