An asymptotic link between LUE and GUE and its spectral interpretation

We use a matrix central-limit theorem which makes the Gaussian Unitary Ensemble appear as a limit of the Laguerre Unitary Ensemble together with an observation due to Johansson in order to derive new representations for the eigenvalues of GUE. For instance, it is possible to recover the celebrated equality in distribution between the maximal eigenvalue of GUE and a last-passage time in some directed brownian percolation. Similar identities for the other eigenvalues of GUE also appear.

Edgeworth Expansion of the Largest Eigenvalue Distribution Function of GUE and LUE

We derive expansions of the Hermite and Laguerre kernels at the edge of the spectrum of the finite n Gaussian Unitary Ensemble (GUEn) and the finite n Laguerre Unitary Ensem- ble (LUEn), respectively. Using these large n kernel expansions, we prove an Edgeworth type theorem for the largest eigenvalue distribution function of GUEn and LUEn. In our Edgeworth expansion, the correction terms are expressed in terms of the same Painleve II function appearing in the leading term, i.e. in the Tracy-Widom distribution. We conclude with a brief discussion of the universality of these results.

PDEs satisfied by extreme eigenvalues distributions of GUE and LUE

In this paper we study, $\textsf{Prob}(n,a,b),$ the probability that all the eigenvalues of finite $n$ unitary ensembles lie in the interval $(a,b)$. On the Scaling Limits of Determinantal Point Processes with Kernels Induced by Sturm-Liouville Operators

By applying an idea of Borodin and Olshanski [J. Algebra 313 (2007), 40-60], we study various scaling limits of determinantal point processes with trace class projection kernels given by spectral projections of selfadjoint Sturm-Liouville operators. Instead of studying the convergence of the kernels as functions, the method directly addresses the strong convergence of the induced integral operators. We present a random matrix interpretation of the distribution functions which have appeared in the study of the one-dimensional polynuclear growth (PNG) model with external sources. The Spectral Norm of Random Inner-Product Kernel Matrices

We study an "inner-product kernel" random matrix model, whose empirical spectral distribution was shown by Xiuyuan Cheng and Amit Singer to converge to a deterministic measure in the large $n$ and $p$ limit.
