Several important cases of vector bundles with extra structure (such as Higgs bundles and triples) may be regarded as examples of twisted representations of a finite quiver in the category of sheaves of modules on a variety/manifold/ringed space. We show that the category of such representations is an abelian category with enough injectives by constructing an explicit injective resolution. Using this explicit resolution, we find a long exact sequence that computes the Ext groups in this new category in terms of the Ext groups in the old category. The quiver formulation is directly reflected in the form of the long exact sequence. We also show that under suitable circumstances, the Ext groups are isomorphic to certain hypercohomology groups.
In a previous paper the authors have attached to each Dynkin quiver an associative algebra. The definition is categorical and the algebra is used to construct desingularizations of arbitrary quiver Grassmannians. In the present paper we prove that this algebra is isomorphic to an algebra constructed by Hernandez-Leclerc defined combinatorially and used to describe certain graded Nakajima quiver varieties. This approach is used to get an explicit realization of the orbit closures of representations of Dynkin quivers as affine quotients.
In this note we prove a new explicit formula for the invariants of moduli spaces of twisted Higgs bundles over P^1 and we relate these invariants to the invariants of moduli spaces of representations of some infinite symmetric quiver. The formula can be easily implemented for computations and it is in agreement with the existing conjectures for the invariants of twisted Higgs bundles over curves. Results of this note were presented in Oberwolfach in May 2014.
We define the twisted de Rham cohomology and show how to use it to define the notion of an integral of the form $\int g(x) e^{f(x)}dx$ over an arbitrary ring. We discuss also a definition of a family of integrals and some properties of the homological definition of integral. We show how to use the twisted de Rham cohomology in order to define the Frobenius map on the p-adic cohomology. Finally, we consider two-dimensional topological quantum field theories with general coefficients.
We study the algebraic geometry of twisted Higgs bundles of cyclic type along complex curves. These objects, which generalize ordinary cyclic Higgs bundles, can be identified with representations of a cyclic quiver in a twisted category of coherent sheaves. Referring to the Hitchin fibration, we produce a fibre-wise geometric description of the locus of such representations within the ambient twisted Higgs moduli space. When the genus is 0, we produce a concrete geometric identification of the moduli space as a vector bundle over an associated (twisted) A-type quiver variety; we count the numb…
For a perfect field $k$, we study actions of the absolute Galois group of $k$ on the $\bar{k}$-valued points of moduli spaces of quiver representations over $k$; the fixed locus is the set of $k$-rational points and we obtain a decomposition of this fixed locus indexed by elements in the Brauer group of $k$. We provide a modular interpretation of this decomposition using quiver representations over division algebras, and we reinterpret this description using twisted quiver representations. We also see that moduli spaces of twisted quiver representations give different forms of the moduli space…
We introduce the notion of (twisted) quiver representations in abelian categories and study the category of such representations. We construct standard resolutions and coresolutions of quiver representations and study basic homological properties of the category of representations. These results are applied in the case of parabolic vector bundles and framed coherent sheaves.
Given a double quiver, we study homological algebra of twisted quiver sheaves with the moment map relation using the short exact sequence of Crawley-Boevey, Holland, Gothen, and King. Then in a certain one-parameter space of the stability conditions, we obtain a wall-crossing formula for the generalized Donaldson-Thomas invariants of the abelian category of framed twisted quiver sheaves on a smooth projective curve. To do so, we closely follow the approach of Chuang, Diaconescu, and Pan in the ADHM quiver case, which makes use of the theory of Joyce and Song. The invariants virtually count fra…
Ordinarily, quiver varieties are constructed as moduli spaces of quiver representations in the category of vector spaces. It is also natural to consider quiver representations in a richer category, namely that of vector bundles on some complex variety equipped with a fixed sheaf that twists the morphisms. Representations of A-type quivers in this twisted category --- known in the literature as "holomorphic chains" --- have practical use in questions concerning the topology of the moduli space of Higgs bundles. In that problem, the variety is a Riemann surface of genus at least 2, and the twist…
For the moduli space of Higgs bundles on a Riemann surface of positive genus, critical points of the natural Morse-Bott function lie along the nilpotent cone of the Hitchin fibration and are representations of $\mbox{A}$-type quivers in a twisted category of holomorphic bundles. The critical points that globally minimize the function are representations of $\mbox{A}_1$. For twisted Higgs bundles on the projective line, the quiver describing the bottom of the cone is more complicated. We determine it here. We show that the moduli space is topologically connected whenever the rank and degree are…
The present paper is an extension of a previous paper written in collaboration with Markus Reineke dealing with quiver representations. The aim of the paper is to generalize the theory and to provide a comprehensive theory of Donaldson-Thomas invariants for abelian categories of homological dimension one (without potential) satisfying some technical conditions. The theory will apply for instance to representations of quivers, coherent sheaves on smooth projective curves, and some coherent sheaves on smooth projective surfaces. We show that the (motivic) Donaldson-Thomas invariants satisfy the …
We prove a closed formula counting semistable twisted (or meromorphic) Higgs bundles of fixed rank and degree over a smooth projective curve of genus g, defined over a finite field, when the degree of the twisting line bundle is at least 2g-2; this includes the case of usual Higgs bundles. We obtain at the same time a closed expression for the Donaldson-Thomas invariants of the moduli spaces of twisted Higgs bundles. We similarly deal with twisted quiver bundles of type A (affine or finite), obtaining in particular a Harder-Narasimhan-type formula counting semistable U(p,q)-bundles over any sm…
A twisted quiver bundle is a set of holomorphic vector bundles over a complex manifold, labelled by the vertices of a quiver, linked by a set of morphisms twisted by a fixed collection of holomorphic vector bundles, labelled by the arrows. When the manifold is Kaelher, quiver bundles admit natural gauge-theoretic equations, which unify many known equations for bundles with extra structure. In this paper we prove a Hitchin--Kobayashi correspondence for twisted quiver bundles over a compact Kaehler manifold, relating the existence of solutions to the gauge equations to a stability criterion, and…
We study the Ext modules in the category of left modules over a twisted algebra of a finite quiver over a ringed space $(X,\mathcal O_X)$, allowing for the presence of relations. We introduce a spectral sequence which relates the Ext modules in that category with the Ext modules in the category of $\mathcal O_X$-modules. Contrary to what happens in the absence of relations, this spectral sequence in general does not degenerate at the second page. We also consider local Ext sheaves. Under suitable hypotheses, the Ext modules are represented as hypercohomology groups
In this paper, we study moduli spaces of representations of certain quivers with relations. For quivers without relations and other categories of homological dimension one, a lot of information is known about the cohomology of their moduli spaces of objects. On the other hand, categories of higher homological dimension remain more mysterious from this point of view, with few general methods. In this paper, we will see how some of the methods used to study quivers can be extended to work for representations of any (noncommutative) monomial algebra with relations of length two. In particular, we…
We prove a general representation stability result for polynomial coefficient systems which lets us prove representation stability and secondary homological stability for many families of groups with polynomial coefficients. This gives two generalizations of classical homological stability theorems with twisted coefficients. We apply our results to prove homological stability for hyperelliptic mapping class groups with twisted coefficients, prove new representation stability results for congruence subgroups, establish secondary homological stability for groups of diffeomorphisms of surfaces vi…
A $\mathrm{U}(p,q)$-Higgs bundle on a Riemann surface (twisted by a line bundle) consists of a pair of holomorphic vector bundles, together with a pair of (twisted) maps between them. Their moduli spaces depend on a real parameter $α$. In this paper we study wall crossing for the moduli spaces of $α$-polystable twisted $\mathrm{U}(p,q)$-Higgs bundles. Our main result is that the moduli spaces are birational for a certain range of the parameter and we deduce irreducibility results using known results on Higgs bundles. Quiver bundles and the Hitchin-Kobayashi correspondence play an essential rol…
We explore methods for constructing normal forms of indecomposable quiver representations. The first part of the paper develops homological tools for recursively constructing families of indecomposable representations from indecomposables of smaller dimension vector. This is then specialized to the situation of tree modules, where the existence of a special basis simplifies computations and gives nicer normal forms. Motivated by a conjecture of Kac, we use this to construct cells of indecomposable representations as deformations of tree modules. The second part of the paper develops geometric …
We describe supersymmetric A-branes and B-branes in open N=(2,2) dynamically gauged nonlinear sigma models (GNLSM), placing emphasis on toric manifold target spaces. For a subset of toric manifolds, these equivariant branes have a mirror description as branes in gauged Landau-Ginzburg models with neutral matter. We then study correlation functions in the topological A-twisted version of the GNLSM, and identify their values with open Hamiltonian Gromov-Witten invariants. Supersymmetry breaking can occur in the A-twisted GNLSM due to nonperturbative open symplectic vortices, and we canonically B…
We study moduli spaces of (semi-)stable representations of one-point extensions of quivers by rigid representations. This class of moduli spaces unifies Grassmannians of subrepresentations of rigid representations and moduli spaces of representations of generalized Kronecker quivers. With homological methods, we find numerical criteria for non-emptiness and results on basic geometric properties, construct generating semi-invariants, expand the Gel'fand MacPherson correspondence, and derive a formula for the Poincare polynomial in singular cohomology of these moduli spaces.
We study the moduli space of twisted quasimaps from a fixed smooth projective curve to a Nakajima's quiver variety and the moduli space of $δ$-stable framed twisted quiver bundles with moment map relations. We show that they carry symmetric obstruction theories and when $δ$ is large enough, they exactly coincide. These results generalize works of D.E. Diaconescu about the ADHM quiver, in the framework of the quasimap theory of I. Ciocan-Fontanine, D. Maulik and the author.
Given a polynomial $W$ with an isolated singularity, we can consider the Jacobian ring as an invariant of the singularity. If in addition we have a group action on the polynomial ring with $W$ fixed, we are led to consider the twisted Jacobian ring which reflects the equivariant structure as well. Our main result is to show that the twisted Jacobian ring is isomorphic to an endomorphism ring of the "twisted diagonal" matrix factorization. As an application, we suggest a way to investigate Floer theory of Lagrangian submanifolds which represent homological mirror functors.
In this paper, we develop a differential-graded symplectic (Batalin-Vilkovisky) version of the framework of Crawley-Boevey, Etingof and Ginzburg on noncommutative differential geometry based on double derivations to construct non-commutative analogues of the Courant algebroids introduced by Liu, Weinstein and Xu. Adapting geometric constructions of Ševera and Roytenberg for (commutative) graded symplectic supermanifolds, we express the BRST charge, given in our framework by a `homological double derivation', in terms of Van den Bergh's double Poisson algebras for graded bi-symplectic non-commu…
Let $X$ be a closed symplectic manifold equipped a Lagrangian torus fibration over a base $Q$. A construction first considered by Kontsevich and Soibelman produces from this data a rigid analytic space $Y$, which can be considered as a variant of the $T$-dual introduced by Strominger, Yau, and Zaslow. We prove that the Fukaya category of tautologically unobstructed graded Lagrangians in $X$ embeds fully faithfully in the derived category of (twisted) coherent sheaves on $Y$, under the technical assumption that $π_2(Q)$ vanishes (all known examples satisfy this assumption). The main new tool is…
We study threefolds $Y$ fibred by $A_m$-surfaces over a curve $S$ of positive genus. An ideal triangulation of $S$ defines, for each rank $m$, a quiver $Q(Δ_m)$, hence a $CY_3$-category $(C,W)$ for any potential $W$ on $Q(Δ_m)$. We show that for $ω$ in an open subset of the Kähler cone, a subcategory of a sign-twisted Fukaya category of $(Y,ω)$ is quasi-isomorphic to $(C,W_{[ω]})$ for a certain generic potential $W_{[ω]}$. This partially establishes a conjecture of Goncharov concerning `categorifications' of cluster varieties of framed $PGL_{m+1}$-local systems on $S$, and gives a symplectic g…
We study macroscopically two dimensional $\mathcal{N}=(2,2)$ supersymmetric gauge theories constructed by compactifying the quiver gauge theories with eight supercharges on a product $\mathbb{T}^{d} \times \mathbb{R}^{2}_ε$ of a $d$-dimensional torus and a two dimensional cigar with $Ω$-deformation. We compute the universal part of the effective twisted superpotential. In doing so we establish the correspondence between the gauge theories, quantization of the moduli spaces of instantons on $\mathbb{R}^{2-d} \times \mathbb{T}^{2+d}$ and singular monopoles on $\mathbb{R}^{2-d} \times \mathbb{T}^…
This paper sets out basic properties of motivic twisted K-theory with respect to degree three motivic cohomology classes of weight one. Motivic twisted K-theory is defined in terms of such motivic cohomology classes by taking pullbacks along the universal principal BG_m-bundle for the classifying space of the multiplicative group scheme. We show a Kuenneth isomorphism for homological motivic twisted K-groups computing the latter as a tensor product of K-groups over the K-theory of BG_m. The proof employs an Adams Hopf algebroid and a tri-graded Tor-spectral sequence for motivic twisted K-theor…
